Yeah I’ve never done heat because open flames flammable liquids kaboom and the best I can point you is…a long time.
I’d suggest using as little ISO as possible to speed up the process but maybe that’s not even desirable for extraction? I dunno, but it’s not my preferred method.
I used to make butane alot. But I never had a proper purge so I’m sure I was smoking some of that shit. Worked though hah.
As far as alcohol extractions I’ve only ever used a fan blowing over the top of the container. Using everclear. It wasn’t to a high enough concentration to be an ignition concern overall. Below lel for sure.
I did pick up an induction stove top for this purpose though…im not sure if I ever used it on not, I don’t ghink I did. But flameless heat.
Haha I was leaning towards using Everclear myself. Just pretend I’m a Florida State alumni douche and tell them I’m going up with other alumni for a game and making a tub of hunch punch. Grab five or the bottles. How long does it take sitting with a fan on it? Fan, we’re talking just a normal circular fan blowing air over the top? I’m in no hurry for the evaporation or anything, just curious how long. Also, I was curious does the temp while evaporating matter? As in, if I sit it in my garage with a fan on it, the heat won’t degrade the extract or anything? Huge thanks to everyone for any help or info they’ve contributed!
Estimated power restoration is now 12:02. Also, initially 2,200ish were listed without power in the area and now just 282, so I guess I’m one of the lucky 282 who had the more difficult to fix issue from the storm.
If anything I think the heat would add to the decarb process. But it’s going to take a while with a fan especially if you have 5 bottles worth lol. I think a half pint took a couple days give or take. The more surface area the more evaporation
Ohhhhh, okay. I thought you guys were talking weeks or months. But, if I can just leave it in the garage I don’t care how long it takes. Haha I kind of figured the heat wouldn’t matter since many do it by applying heat, but wanted to make sure. Thanks!
Question, how much yield do you think is being lost using regular ice and bubble bags (up to 20+% return on dry cured buds sometimes) as opposed to dry ice? Butane?
I really like the idea of using water for extractions and have yet to find a better high but I am always willing to try different stuff.
If you ask me it’s not about yield being lost it’s about being able to control what you collect. With bubble i have the power to choose what I collect and discard what I consider trash. Can’t do that with a sieve.
But probably some yield is lost, because of those cuts.
No clue on yield, but you get a lot more with dry ice. Butane seemed to get a lot too, but I stayed far away whenever they were actually blasting tubes, so I can’t tell you exactly what came from a qp of flower or anything like that. Bubble is the best quality and gives you the best rosin, but dry ice hash with good flower can be really really good as well and you’ll have a lot more. Also, none of the drying mess and stuff. Mess around with what micron bags you like and how much you shake it and stuff. It’s a heck of a lot easier than doing bubble.
I hesitate to use dry ice because of the potential danger of me being very high making hash. However i am intrigued at not having to dry the stuff out. Most of the Canadians I know use snow man piss and zamboni scrapings hockey rink ice for best practices. I suppose I could do it sober but than it may start to feel like work…
Trying to let these things ride on just water and gypsum for another ten or so days. Happy/surprised I don’t see any other mold or signs of it. Was really expecting things to go bad quickly.
