Yesterday was one heckuva day, once I got rolling with the NewBerry Auto. When the light came back on at 9:00 I went in right away to dig out the first seed I could find to check viability. The one I found isn’t striped, but it’s clearly good to go. I want to start one as soon as I possibly can, but I’m not sure how soon I can start it. I think I read somewhere that popping fresh seeds is totally fine, and we mostly only dry seeds like we do so they ship and store better, and keep for longer. If I’m wrong and you know it, please let me know.
There’s so much pot from just this one plant. It took about 4.5-5 hours just to deleaf it all, and I was only going after fan leaves and really easy to reach sugar leaves. I’ve found that dry trimming works better for me, and involves a little less cleaning of my scissors. All jokes aside, I had to take an actual lunch break while processing this plant. Stopped when I was about two hours in and left for Taco Bell.
The three branches that are holding seeds are in my WeDryer, which should have them dry enough for seed shucking in 4-5 days. I might wait a little longer though, since she’s a fair bit more dense than other plants I’ve made seeds with. I’m thinking about making a “guess how many seeds and win a prize” post, somewhere, when they’re closer to ready. If I do, I’ll set it up so there’s a winner by weight, and a winner by quantity of seeds. I love giving stuff away, and I love love love “pick a number” guessing games. Not sure what exactly I’d offer as prizes, other than seeds, but I’ll figure out something cool. I do have a pH/EC pen and a TDS pen that I’m not using. I’d be tickled pink to see those go to someone that will use them.
The Grape Slurri. I dunno what to do with her. When I removed the container the NewBerry was in, a BUNCH of salt and nutrient residue from the outside of the container scraped off the fabric and into the water in the tray. I could see the little white crystal chunks in there and it didn’t look like anything I want to plunk a pot into. So, tonight when my old lady gets home, I’ll be pulling the Twisted Puppy out of the tray and cleaning the whole system, then reassembling the whole thing and mixing up 12 gallons of nutrient water to refill the res tank. Then, maybe, the Grape Slurri will start living tray life and actually do something with herself. Maybe.
I think that’s everything I needed to get out in regards to yesterday. I had so much fun watching that plant grow, despite the issues I caused her. I have a single fem seed left for straight NewBerry Auto, if anyone wants to try it before they buy it. I’d damn near start a fan-club if someone wanted to take that seed and run it alongside a NewBerry Black, for comparisons sake. I don’t think I could manage it in my current rig. She wants and needs space to spread out, and I just can’t give it to her running the way I run.
I’ll try to get pics of the Pentagram ladies sometime before Danksgiving. They’re pushing pistils really hard now, and might end up looking damn near identical. The Twisted Tree girls in 1 gallon pots are all steady rocking along. For sure for sure two distinct phenos, possibly three, in the Chem Cookies testers. The tall girl is gonna be a friggin MONSTER. And that Cheese Cookies female is gonna be gorgeous, and really dense I think. She’s stacking so tight, it’s kinda freaky. I’m trying to drought the whole tent and get all four of the 1 gallon plants watered on the same day to check who drinks fastest, and to see how they respond to being a bit thirsty. TTA does good work with their gear, so I’m sure they’ll be fine.
Happy Monday y’all!
