Barefoot And Blazed's Benevolent Buds

The 5x5 flower tent. The two big ones in back are Gelato Hashplant on the left and the huge GG4 x Black Domina on the right. L to R up front are the GG4 x Black Domina which is near harvest, and two Orange Goji:

This pic is from a week ago with the trichomes just starting to form on the fan leaves of the Gelato Hashplant:

Has it really been two weeks since my last update?

I chopped the big GG4XBD. It yielded 4.75oz. I let it hang 3 days, chopped into branches which went into paper sacks for a day, trimmed everything, then have spent several days letting the harvest dry a few hours, then back into the jar. It was 70%rh this morning. I’m guessing maybe one or two more days to get it stable where I need it. After failing miserably to dry and cure correctly, I’m trying to stay on top of it now.

The veg tent has four Gelato HP and one Orange Goji that have been topped and LST’ed and are ready to move into the flower tent as soon as there is space.
I’ve recently been given clones by a couple local grower friends: “Chemdog” (origins unknown), The New, Purple Alien, PuTang, and WUG (Why U Gelly?, a Gelato cross):

The flower tent has one remaining big plant, Gelato Hashplant, which is 7 weeks into flower. Once that comes down I’ll have an even canopy and can set up my SCROG net.

Orange Goji, also 7 weeks in flower, but taking it’s time. Maybe the Octopot made the Gelato HP develop bigger and faster?

Orange Goji up close. Finally seeing some pistils change color.

I had two Purple Poison Cookie plants from @SamwellBB but it turns out one was a boy so it was trashed. The remaining PPC is the “leaf lettuce” pheno. It has looked like this it’s entire life. I’m intrigued to see what kind of flowers it will produce

On the edibles front, I made four dozen chocolate chip cookies that turned out quite strong. I also took a stab at peanut butter cups. The effects are great but I’ll execute the recipe better next time.

Just found a few more pics:

Gelato HP took forever for pistils to change color

Here you can really see the height difference, compared to the Orange Goji in the foreground which is the same age

Admittedly, the Gelato HP is in an 18" tall Octopot…

And finally here is some bud porn from the other Orange Goji plant. The leaves are more pale but the buds are stacking nicely.

How is the construction coming on your house?

The contractors finished 95% of the job by the end of 2020. It was a HUGE project! They took out a load-bearing wall replacing it with an engineered beam, installed a brand new kitchen (gutted to the studs, all new cabinets and countertops, and new appliances other than the dishwasher), and a remodel of the master bedroom to include an entirely new bathroom and walk-in closet. Some new windows were installed, along with a stair railing and new flooring throughout the entire upstairs.

I lived and worked out of the basement during all of that construction. I became so habituated to the dust and noise that I haven’t been as motivated as I should be to apply all the finishing touches. That’s another way of saying I’m a lazy stoner who is perfectly happy to sit on the couch even if that couch happens to be in the middle of a construction zone.

The main hold-up to finish the house is getting bulky furniture out my gf’s house (she lives 45 minutes away). It’ll require renting a truck, and getting a friend or two to assist. It’ll be a day-long effort, and we won’t want to do it if the weather is shitty. We also want to wait until everyone is vaccinated…

I am so incredibly lucky. So many things had to go right for me to be where I am today, and I’m so thankful and appreciative. One year ago today I was living in a different house and wasn’t growing cannabis. My gf and I traveled to Toronto in early March to visit her family and barely made it back across the border before it was closed due to the virus. I moved in April (on 4/20!), and planted my first seed May 1st. My garden is doing great, despite the occasional bonehead move on my part. I think I’ve come a really long way thanks to everyone on this forum. I don’t belong to any others. This place feels right…

I decided to check trichomes on the Gelato Hashplant this morning. I think I’m still on pace to harvest this coming weekend.

That plant went into 12/12 on January 3rd, along with two Orange Gojis. Those have looked significantly less mature - very little color change in the pistils - but I snipped a leaf to check under the microscope and…

Damn!!! It got chopped right away.

The second Orange Goji isn’t close to finishing yet. Another week or two most likely.

This weekend I prepped four Gelato Hashplants and one Orange Goji to move into the flower tent. I took some cuttings, and up-potted a few clones.

The perpetual machine is chugging along, but I’m itching to do a pheno hunt. I think I’ve narrowed it down to one of these Bodhi strains: Black Triangle, Cherry Queen, Cobra Lips, or Smart Move.

Love Gelato. I am just now curing some out.
Nice trichome pics.

… you don’t use the leaves to check trichomes bro, you gotta check the calyx’s only. The leaves are usually amber weeks before the buds ready. Hope its all good for ya regardless :crossed_fingers:

Good lookin’ out! I checked a calyx too and there’s enough amber to justify the chop. Not nearly as much as in the leaf pic though!

If anyone has opinions on which Bodhi pack to pop, I’m all ears. I chose those because they are unlike what I’ve been growing recently.

My vote is either Cobra Lips or Smart Move…
Can’t go wrong with the Cherry Queen or Black Triangle though, there’s a few of those floating around here however, so if you wanted to see or show off something new, yeah one of those two ^^
