Random updates before I forget them.
During the very end of flower the first Chocolate Blitz made the basement reek of gluey, solventy grossness. Smelled almost exactly like soldering, if you know that smell at all. Sweet and hot and rank. I thought a light was about to meltdown and the solder was softening, but I was the plant. Doesn’t smell like that at all in the jar. Smell in the jar is very bitter dry smell with citrus. Smells like a light roast coffee almost. I was packing a bowl and my wife walked in the kitchen and asked if I was making coffee milk haha. Only burned it a couple times, but is very laid back happy weed. Leaves the air in the room smelling like incense and spice for hours afterwards.
Only had a couple bowls of the first PCB X A5HT, but oh fuck is it promising. Not energetic really, but motivating. Starts a little inward focused then becomes really clear headed. Makes you want to do all the little things you’ve put off for the past week. Also make me more of a smartass, hard though that may be to believe. Like silly stupid one liners galore. I burned one the other day and my wife said “what are you smoking? You need to smoke this all the time, it makes you silly as hell, I feel like I’m hanging out with a girl.” So take that for what you will haha. I really like it so far.
Maaaaan, then I may have to plant some of my Chocolate Blitz seeds haha. It’s looking like everything I planted on October 1 is a total loss, transplanted the eight remaining “plants” that looked like they might do something into half-gallons a couple days ago, but I don’t have high hopes. I was looking at my list this morning, trying to decide what else to plant and the Chocolate Blitz caught my eye for sure. Your smoke report is only increasing my curiosity haha.
And I still haven’t tried the PCB x A5T, just been smoking on Iamyou’s BB x Silver Lotus all week, but you’re making me wanna get into that one next for sure haha. I was thinking I’d get into one of the Diesel crosses, but I like silly weed haha. I need to feel silly for a few days.

It is really nice weed. I can’t quite put my finger on exactly how it makes me feel. Just broadly “at peace” maybe a bit spacey? Hard to describe, I’ll have to smoke more and see where it takes me. The burdens of research haha. But seriously, the smell that this plant leaves in the air was shocking to me. I normally hate the smell of old smoke, but this really leaves the room smelling like incense. I’ve only had a couple toots of the second plant, but it does not seem to leave the air smelling the same way, just smells like normal old smoke.
This really is silly, giggly, fun weed. Just what I was hoping it would be. It is a stay up all night shooting the shit strain, not like, spun and energetic, but not conducive to sleep at all haha. Just wanna while the hours away cracking wise.
Now that you mention it, there was some changing the words to songs to be about the cats, and singing it to them. They were unimpressed. I thought I was funny as hell.
The party is officially starting! One Hillbilly Fighter is above ground, helmet gone! Two Long Bottom Fighter above ground, helmets till on. Look tight af too, I’ll help them a little tomorrow if they haven’t made progress. Was nothing above ground 10 hours ago before I left for work.
The PCB X NWHP looks like really good mids haha. Flashing back to high school, half tempted to buy a honey Dutch while I’m out running errands today. The nic in the leaf would probably kill me though.
Got one more HF above ground, and one pushed itself totally out of the soil with the tap root, reburied that one gently. So that’s both LBF and 2 of 4 HF above ground with on reburied, and one as of yet unseen.
Remember how I started this first coco grow with the intention of keeping it simple, growing known strains, more or less not fucking around?
Nope.
I am soaking a couple beans that will end up in the solo cup challenge running here. Running some compact, quick flowering plants, right? Nope. X1 Maui Wowie fem and x1 Mexican Widow fem (Acapulco gold x white widow). I’m even soaking them first, instead of just dropping them straight into the pots like I normally do, so I’m completely off kilter. And they’re in just coco and perlite, not seed starter, so there are no nutes at all, so I’ll have to start feeding pretty soon out of the gate.
Here we go!
Yeah, hoping I don’t fuck it up haha. Only photo fems I had, and I wanted exactly two more plants.(EDIT: this is not to imply I only planted them only because they were fems, quite the opposite, I am very interested, but as a coco “rookie”, there is some apprehension with popping valuable things haha) And if I planted x4 seeds, all would have been ladies, and we know I would have to keep them.
The Maui is from @Sebringthese, I believe. though I got them from @misterbee. The Mexican is from @GrouchyOldMan, I might be the first to grow them? Big thanks to all those folks for their generosity here.
I’m gonna take some clones when I can so I can still taste them if everything goes south.

I don’t know that I’m a glutton for punishment, but certainly can’t argue against that with a straight face. The whole challenge thing is really just the perfect excuse to do something I really wanted to anyway, which is have more plants haha. And a chance to fail very publicly, now that I think about it haha. But yeah, lotsa learning opportunities for me in the near future I expect.
So pleased that the Mexican Widow is going to hit the dirt @potpotpot! That mix is so unlikely I have no idea what you’ll get!
Her genetics include an Acapulco Gold by @lambchopedd (Reg, Photo), pollinated by a White Widow from ILGM (Reg, Fem), that I cloned then reversed using STS.
Both of those lines are very stable and good examples of their strain. I’ve grown the ILGM widow a dozen times and I cherish that bud!
Maybe a breeder/expert can weigh in on whether this combo is likely to be female? I’m guessing 50/50 reg.
@potpotpot I found a few more MW seeds breaking down the AG buds, so let me know if you have germination problems.
They will be 100% female (XX). You reversed a female with two X chromosomes and pollinated another female with two X chomosomes. The only combination is two X chomosomes, there will be no true males (XY) because there was no Y chomosome in the mix.
And therein lies the fun part! No matter which way she leans, she oughta be a winner.
I’ll post updates to the challenge thread as they are needed over there, but I’ll be logging the plant on a more day to day basis in this thread, if you wanna keep an eye on.
