See? This is why I should probably start watching these videos (any videos, really) and listening to podcasts and shit. I just really can’t stand them haha. They take so long. A video that takes thirty minutes I could read in, like, six. Same with podcasts. And the whole time I’m listening to/watching them, all I can think is,”I could be listening to music right now…”
Having said that, Jeremy wasn’t even doing videos when I bought that seed sprouter thing haha. At least, I don’t think he was. BAS was for sure not what they are now back then.
@minitiger Ya its possible the SST would not do the most good for them. When it comes to small plants, I mainly used those teas to try assisting them through the tail end of overwatering stress/shock if things got bad.
@BeagleZ Hey hey hey… Enough making fun of my plastic cup…
Ya the Quillaja extract is damn expensive (something like 660$ for 1kg?) and like you said its not needed all the time. I have spent money/time sourcing and testing Quillaja extract powder to buy in bulk, waiting on my order actually heh. Just don’t want to worry about buying any here and there for years.
Funny thing is I will most likely use it less than usual because of changes I am making in the veg room (Mini SIP’s), but it will still be nice to have on hand. Also splitting the order with my gaming buddy.
This right here is exactly why I have mixed feelings about Jeremy’s videos. The videos are often mostly worthwhile and on point, but other times they’re just about hawking products that no one really needs and only make an appearance in his videos because he’s looking to sell add-ons. I don’t fault him for marketing his company…but when someone presents themselves as a knowledge source then in the next breath hawks unnecessary and possibly worthless products, respect is lost on my side of the screen.
Yeah, dude, for sure. The first (and maybe only) time I watched one of his videos, I was like,”Damn, those beady eyes remind me of someone… Who is it…?” Took me a couple days to realize who it was. Remember that dude who wrote that book “A Million Little Pieces”? James Frey. And Oprah freaked out about him and had him on the show and promoted the fuck out of his “memoir”? And then it turned out he’d made it all up and it was fake and she made him come back a few weeks later and, like, apologize?
I’m only aware of this, btw, because I used to date a chick who was fucking obsessed with Oprah haha, she watched that show every day and I saw both of those episodes. And while I watched the first one, I was like,”This dude’s totally full of shit. Look at his eyes. He’s a liar.” And my girl gave me so much shit, like,”How dare you?!? Oprah doesn’t fuck around!” haha. And then it turned out I was right.
Anyway, that guy’s eyes look EXACTLY like Jeremy from BAS’ eyes. Which is why I’ve been a little skeptical of him ever since I saw my first video of his. Don’t ever trust somebody with beady eyes haha.
And don’t forget Dr. Oz. That dude is full of shit too…and Oprah’s production studio gave him a show of his own that he used as a platform to hawk products with big claims & dubious research/science backing.
Oh, for SURE. Oprah’s a moron. Wasn’t she also responsible for the rise of Dr. Phil? I mean, how many passes do dipshits like her get? James Frey, Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil… Clearly, her judgment’s lacking haha. And why does she need so many “doctors”??? Hahaha…
Sorry, @BeagleZ, for turning this into a thing, but yeah, fuck Oprah. Still, if you watch the very first interview she did with that James Frey dude, you’ll see the “beady eyes” thing I’m talking about. I looked around for it to see about posting it here (again, sorry, @BeagleZ haha), but all I could find were the later “apology” videos, where he was looking more contrite. That first interview, though, he looks EXACTLY the same as Jeremy from BAS. It’s uncanny.
Oprah’s all about good television. Why do you think she became a meme?
I don’t think she cared as much about what people said on her show as she did about her ratings and her own image. When it turned out that James Frey was a liar, she pulled him back on to save her own reputation.
Well, yeah, dude, of course. That’s all that matters. She promoted a “memoir” that turned out to be bullshit, of course she had to “restore” her image with a verbal scolding on live television. That’s good tv, too!! Haha. Still, anybody who’s ever had an addict in their life or been an addict or whatever could’ve listened to that dude James Frey talk and realized immediately that he was full of shit.
Anyway, ugh…. I think I’m just all stoked for the draft and trying to not overdo it on the pre-gaming haha. Distracting myself with Oprah stories from 20 years ago and shit hahaha…
Same here. Every sports writer thinks they can predict the draft better than they could pick their March Madness brackets. Getting round 1 done and in the books will be a relief.
I remember the exodus that took place on ICMag when people were getting banned in the ROLS thread which resulted in a relocation to LivingOrganicSoil (LOS) aka BuildASoil’s forums. At the time it was a private forum but no idea what ever happened to it or if it even still exists. There always seemed to be a bit of cognitive dissonance present in those mocking bottled nutrient culture while simultaneously pushing their own magic potions (aloe powders, coconut powders, malted barley, etc). Gardening can be as simple or complex as you want to make it though so ultimately it doesn’t affect me. To my mind Youtube(IG/Facebook etc also) is probably one of the worst places to learn how to garden, with community gardens a close second.
Duuuuude, I knoooowwwww… I actually wrote a comment on The Athletic a few days ago (“mini’s posting all over the place! Big surprise!” haha) about the ridiculous onslaught of twelve-mock-drafts-a-day bullshit. And yet, I still read all of them haha…
I like Thibodeaux at number two for y’all (unless Aidan Hutchinson is still there) and Lewis Cine at number 32, though. Unless Nakobe Dean’s still available at 32, in which case, gotta take him. I watch a ton of SEC football, Gators fan, that Dean dude is real good.
And I’ll just sit back and wait until fucking midnight tomorrow for the Rams to make their first pick… haha.
Yeah, I really don’t do too much over the course of a grow. Not by design, really, so much as I’m just like,”I think my soil mix is all good, what else do I need to do?” I’ll occasionally water in some aloe or coconut or whatever, but I mean, it does seem like maybe it’s a little bit of a racket.
