BeagleZ Corner

Ok y’all, help wanted…

Two of my GSDf6 seedlings are really struggling. Can’t figure out what’s going on, same mix as everything else, and everything else is Banging.
So I dunno… maybe a virus of some sort, maybe there’s a weird pheno in the mix…

The other GSD and a SaintsCrossing to see the comparison to everything else, everything popped pretty much the same time, within a day or 2 of each other so they are all the same age…

That’s a tough one to tell. I might just LITFA could just be some early growth weirdness, they may grow out of it in thier own. If they get to like 4 nodes and still look like that I’d be more concerned at that point

Ah man, that comparison shot is a gut check for sure. No other differences in treatment, handling, or medium? If there’s nothing you can identify, then I’m with Legs here. LITFA.
2 runts of the same strain… It might be worth looking into some other grows journals online and seeing if others have encountered this. There should be a few since those beans just had a big promotional drop.

Yeah man, everything exactly the same! It’s got me scratching my head for sure. Only these 2 out of 12 , and both same cultivar…

Was thinking about giving them a weee spritz of LABs but I’ll hold off for a few days.

Yeah, was looking around on IG as well but not seeing much so far, but finding someone posting truth on IG would be a small miracle lol

Could be the GSD side of the genetics possibly? I have seen other people have decent rates, but I lost 6 of my COPA AOGxGSD F6 tester seeds when popping. 2 survived and I had 2 as backup I did not pop. The 2 survivors are doing alright, cloned them 2 days ago.

Have you watered with a compost tea? Any time I have some stragglers or just weird-looking plants and I water with a compost tea (four gallons of water, 1.5 cups EWC/compost, 1/3 cup molasses, brewed for about thirty hours), they almost immediately snap out of their funk and take off.

I know compost teas have kind of fallen out of favor with the little online organic cannabis grower community in the past few years, but I’ve seen the results with my own eyes. I’ll always use them. In fact, I should probably start brewing one in the next couple days for my seedlings haha.

I haven’t done a tea on them yet but I have given everything JMS.

I don’t get the pushback on teas. I love them and it’s proven. Your multiplying life exponentially and putting all that to work in your soil, I don’t get what is not to understand

Good call, I’ll start a tea this evening with a mix of the farm black gold and my EWC.
Thanks for the suggestion @minitiger !

Could be… have you heard of any one else having issues out the gate @bassman5420 ?

Only 1-2 people that I can remember mentioning it.

The first time (really the only time, as I’m not real active on more than one grow site at a time) I noticed people kind of disparaging teas was on the no till thread on grasscity that Mountain Organics started a few years back (which is a great thread, compost tea pushback notwithstanding haha). I think it’s kind of curious that at the same time he started ridiculing compost teas, he also started manufacturing and selling his own bottled shit. COINCIDENCE??? Haha.

Some compost tea could be good. My best recovery brew seemed to be SST with aloe added. Also a few cases where malted barley/kelp/alfalfa tea helped me as well when things were in a bad place.

Yeah, SST’s are good, although I haven’t actually made one in a few years, started doing the MBP top dress thing a while back instead. I actually just cleaned out and rearranged the closet in my grow room a couple weeks ago, just because it had gotten a little too disorganized in there during the quarantining, what with me being drunk all the time and shit haha. Found my little SST seed sprouter thing that I got from BAS like seven years ago and was like,”Awwww, I remember this. I paid like thirty bucks for two plastic cups…” haha!

The reason I suggested the compost tea, though, is because it seems to me, especially in veg, in those smaller pots, that maybe there just isn’t as much life going on in there, as opposed to the big-ass no till thing that BeagleZ will eventually transplant into. There shouldn’t be any need for a compost tea in those big 3x3 or 4x4 containers of soil. But in the solo cups or whatever you wanna veg in, it seems to me that they always need a little “jump start” or whatever early on. I’m not certain that enzymes are what they need right now, especially if there isn’t any life going on in there to take advantage of them.

Like I said, I’m gonna do the same thing for my seedlings in a couple days, got them in some solo cups and also in those little three-inch starter pot things. The Purple Corinto Budder/A5Thais and the Dread Breads look fine, very vigorous. But everything else is lagging. Could just be the genetics, but I guarantee you when I hit them with a compost tea, they’ll take off.

I remember seeing Jeremy use it in one of the YouTube videos and I had a really good chuckle in my head when I considered buying it lol
Sorry you got suckered @minitiger
You paid 30 bucks for packaging, the cups were free

Not sure why teas have fallen out of favor either. The new thing hype thing is IMO.

I definitely see a difference inoculating new beds with a tea, but once they get going the teas aren’t needed. I just mix amendments with my vermicompost and top dress that and water it in.

I really need to learn how to use the microscope I bought.:microscope:

Don’t you dare talk bad about my IMO @ReikoX lol

Not talking bad about it at all, I have been wanting to try my hand at some IMO collections. Following along with “Marco is Growing” on IG and YouTube.

You made OHN yet? I’m thinking of making that this summer.

I’ve found a lot of things aren’t needed in the big beds and are a complete waste of money.
Been meaning to do a post about this actually.
One of my top being wetting agents.
A lot of these things are good for the start of a bed but are completely un necessary once it’s going.
Especially that “q” stuff. That shit is ridiculously expensive and once my mulch layer is in I WANT my water to get into my soil. Not just foam up and saturate the straw or whatever is in for mulch.

I know, just poking you @ReikoX
I follow Marco as well. Been getting my ingredients together for my OHN and should start the process this weekend.
Im going to make a lot to make it worth while

Is it sad I want to make it so I can drink it?
