Yes will be a good experiment, at this point that GSD has been pretty abused as well, still in a solo cup 6 months later but she just hasn’t grown.
I think I’ll recycle the EB soil instead of no-tilling it. Amend it heavy and then yes, follow @CrunchBerries top dressing protocol.
I deff have a lot more to learn in SIP land!
Happy Sunday Fam!
Wanted to share a quick update this morning. The bed is really performing well. Impressed with the growth this round, I’d say almost on par with EarthBox growth. @Rogue yes, I think the soil is getting better and better
Gave the bed a good watering with some FAA I’ve been working on. It’s a bit soon to be using it but damn, I really think they liked it already!
It’s only been 6 days (edit: 5 days!) since I put the screen in and bent the the ladies. The poor SaintsCrossing is getting buried. I think I only have a few more days before I need to flip. So I’m hoping she pops up above the screen.
The ValeTudo is dominating and the SSDDs are not far behind her.
Getting a few of these somewhat variegated fan leaves on the bigger SSDD.
And here is a peak at what I’m dealing with here with my rovies (enjoying the rain of mites). @supershitfuck, I do love them and give them a lot of credit for the health of my bed. I just want them to stay put down there …
That’s it for this morning. It’s a beautiful cloudy rainy day here so I’m thinking I might go out and see about catching a few fish for a new batch of FAA.
Y’all have a great day!!
Nice that looks like my beds predatorwise, bro you got a LOT of springtails haha i had this many and was freaking out, the population died down a lot and evened out, the hypoaspis miles are taking over and are everywhere right now, those are cool cause they reproduce good, don’t die, cost $25 on eBay, don’t get on your buds and protect protect. the big problem i had was bulb mites, hypoaspis eat those. havn’t seen a aphid or nothing else, predators are with the business. your plants look good bro
It’s weird but I’m strangely at peace with it
I’m getting to the point now where I know things fluctuate and the bed reacts and rebalances itself.
The populations usually explode in the beginning of a run from all the organic additions but they will settle back down.
Balance will surely come, and you definitely have enough of the rove beetles there to feast on the springtails. Very impressive, probably 100s of dollars worth (if you were to buy them that is) of predatory mites & rove beetles seen in that small area alone haha.
Once plants get into a probiotic sip they will correct any issues they may be experiencing. I’ve had more than one instance were a plant is super unhappy and within a week or two they are thriving.
What up Fam!
Today will be first day of 12/12 for the 4x4. Just can’t wait on SC to catch up anymore. Hopefully she will be a fast stretcher. The Vale is Dominating and about to overtake the SC completely.
So thought I’d drop a photo or 2 for later reference…
Quick update…
Stretch is in full effect for all but the SaintsCrossing. Going to do some thinning out and start stringing the second trellis tonight so wanted to put some pics up from before…
Gave them all a good trim, will do one more defoliation in a week or 2.
ValeTudo and SSDDbx#2 are already above the net. SaintsCrossing is barely above the first trellis and SSDDbx#1 is a little behind #2.
I’m still getting that weirdness on some of the fan leaves on the SSDDbx#2 and still no signs of it on any of the other plants…
All seem healthy enough though so not going to worry about it…
