Best strains for pain, sleep & anxiety edibles

I met some neighbors who live down the street, and after several conversations he asked me if I was into weed. I laughed. Anyway, they’re pretty new to it, and he’s started growing it to save money (they’re retired). He told me they make edibles, don’t smoke, and bought their seeds at the local hydro store. I told them I could give them some, but not 100% sure which I have would be best for the issues they’re dealing with.

I know this may well have been already covered here somewhere…but I’m high and can’t find exactly what I’m looking for…or maybe too lazy.

Anxiety: OG Kush or any strain with linalool Turpin.
Northern lights or dominate Indica for Sleep and pain.
The real problem with saying this, people react different to high potency edibles… mostly cause it goes thru the liver to the blood stream.

Thanks @Heliosphear …at least they have some experience with edibles. I hate getting people who’ve never had cannabis into edibles…I had one friend call 911 cause she thought she was dying.

This doesn’t answer your question but I think dose is far more important than strain when it comes to edibles. We’ve all heard some version of the “I thought I was dying” story.

The OCS sells 5mg THC capsules. I’m loathe to recommend anything from the OCS but for noobs who don’t know what they’re doing dose control is very important. One of my cookies would destroy them.

Anything “Breath” dominant would be a good choice IMO

i second the dosage (and not only for edibles). smoke a lil too much and any strain if youre new will prob give you issues if youre prone.

also, i notice people get anxious with sativa leaning stuff… i get anxious with heavy strong indicas.

Anything with relevant THCV like maybe kannabia or ethiopian highland - should be nice. dunno how it reacts to the heat to process edibles tho.

recently Black Energy, Sour Iron, and Bandaid Haze by DocD has been strong and has not caused me any issues at all. Ginger Tea by Archive as well and it taste lovely, like… some sort of lemon/ginger tea.

Eutierria from @DannyTerpintine and Frankenstein from @JohnnyPotseed are some good ones for pain/edibles.

Nice to know. I don’t like weed that is to strong. Kush is my favorite. But I like being stoned without the paranoia that comes with it. JP has some good stuff. PPP is nice. Kush is hit and miss sometimes on how strong it is. I have cut back. Very low right now. So a bowl last all day. Not as many days smoking is a row. Maybe I’m not answering your question. Good topic.

I’m similar to your neighbours but I usually smoke, and I cant stand strong sativas, indicas and indica dominant crosses are best.

Cbg works on gaba receptors like a benzodiazepine, as well as cb2 of course. It is very relaxing for sleep and anxiety, and even alone without thc it is positive mood lifting, unlike I find cbd alone.

I use about 30mg cbg a day personally along with a whole host of herbs and vitamins. If you are serious about pain relief, I use red vein kratom as well, about 3 grams a day, although that is only a mild dose. Anything high in cbd/cbdv and cbg should be in a good pain relief strain of weed to me.

Thanks @chronix …I believe I currently have both of those. Trying to help them get away from paying $10-20 a seed.

@Hemp think I may have some PPP kicking around as well.

He’s a little concerned about males from reg. seeds, but I hope I can get him to try those. Frankie is fems I believe.

Those with high CBD content. It’s been shown to have therapeutic effects. And I found an interesting article on the effects of CBD on mental health: https://releaf.co.uk/blog/modern-medicine-and-mental-health

It says that CBD can influence the amygdala, the brain region responsible for emotions and motivation. By decreasing amygdala activity, CBD may help reduce anxiety and help sleep better.

I feel it seems to mute my emotions a bit, or at least distract me from them, so that my mood swings are less streched wide and I’m not stir crazy at night. I feel comfort knowing I won’t over react to drama or anything… I’ve def thought about this before. Cbd is so nice with the thc and cbg for so many things that cause anxiety, like muscle tension or low dopamine!

So, you wanna help your neighbors out with some weed wisdom. That’s really cool of you! Since they’re new to it and dealing with some health issues, it’s great that you’re considering their needs.
