And what is an assault weapon? I consider it to be anything, you try to assault me with. Baseball bat, car, motorcycle, screwdriver, pencil, ham bone, frying pan. They gonna try n ban them too. Guns don’t kill people, proper sight alignment and trigger pressure does. All these school shootings are very tragic and I am not making light of them in any way but, seriously blaming an intimate object doesn’t work for me. What about the parents, school’s, police forces that are not allowed to or trained not to pay attention to the warning signs. I was always trained that when I didn’t have a plan, run towards the sound of gunfire, not the other direction or to hide behind a rock. Take my firearms away from me and expect me to have people that can fire up to 30 rounds and not hit a damned thing, I think not. I better shut up, before I get myself in trouble. Sorry for throwing a rant on your journal, my brother. This stupid blame game shit has gotta stop. The way I see it, I have my 30/30, my shotguns, and my 270 for hunting. Owning a weapon that holds a large clip is not for hunting. It’s for when a group of people (civilians or otherwise), decide that I don’t need to be living a free life and come to take it away. It’s for, God forbid, in case more than a couple of people attempt to enter my home and take and do what they want. If four or five (shit even one or two) people try that, I want as many rounds in my weapon as I might need to handle the situation without finding a hole to drop into to reload.
It’s that simple.
Large capacity clips are not for hunting. It’s for when you are hunted by others.

The bad thing about banning assault style weapons, is that you can take any long rifle. ,say, a .22, and with a few aftermarket parts, you have an assault style weapon. Still a .22 tho.
It bothers me that a kid not even out of high school, can walk in and buy a weapon of any sort. Without an adult. And two days later go and buy another. How is that a good thing? And where does an 18 yr old get a couple thousand bucks to buy said weapons. There a lot of things that have me scratching my head.
First things first though. In my mind we need to harden our schools, churches, amusement parks and even businesses. Security companies should be a booming business opportunity right now.
Then we deal with helping add some stability to some young minds and hearts. All the laws in the world won’t mean a damn unless that is dealt with.
They tried the ban on assault rifles once before and by our own government’s admission, it did nothing to curb Firearm violence. Look at some of these states that have the strictest firearm’s laws but, still have the highest firearm violence. My personal opinion is society is the problem, not the firearm. All a ban will do is make it illegal, for everyday citizens, not the criminal’s, most of whom, don’t purchase their firearm’s legally anyhow. It’s societies fault, that we have all been conned and some, maybe willingly, to let the public schools and the so called politically correct, raise our kids, instead of raising them ourselves. Things like this very rarely happened, when I was growing up and never youngsters, shooting youngsters. We did have that college student, from that tower at a college but, that’s about all I can really remember and that might have even been before my time but, kinda think I remember it as a kid. That goes to show you how rare it was. Now we have I don’t even know how many so called genders, everyone get’s a trophy (where is the competition at that point), the entitlement crowd, the cancel culture, antifa, BLM, the so called peaceful protesters and on and on
Has anyone ever noticed that these shooters, seem to only target gun free zones. My state allows open carry and I open carry for a reason, it might stop some dumbass that’s fixing to do something stupid. I have a concealed carry only reason being, is a friend of mine, in law enforcement, knows why I carry, he knows, I don’t try to hide it. I carry a full size 1911 Kimber 2 tone. Kinda hard to conceal but, one winter day we were talking at Wally World and I rarely ever wear a jacket, even in winter. I had my usual long sleeved t-shirt and a flannel over top, with the sleeves rolled up. My shirt was partially covering my firearm. My friend said, Gary do you know that some of the rookies, that don’t know you would write you a concealed carry ticket for that. I said, no fucking way. He said yep and they could probably make it stick. Needless to say, I went and got my concealed carry. Didn’t want to get into trouble, while I was trying to obey the law. Now I got it covered either way
When I was in high school, I used to carry my rifle with me on the gun rack in my truck to school, so I could go out in the woods after school, during hunting season. Like I said, this kinda crap was unheard of, when I was growing up. When I sit and ponder, this subject, knowing that human nature has not changed, for hundreds, maybe even thousands of years. There has to be something in society, that has changed, to make these youngsters, think that this kinda behavior is acceptable or maybe it’s the fact that most kids aren’t disciplined, the way we were. It’s the only thing, that I can come up with, just my thoughts

Absolutely correct!!! I remember watching something Clint Eastwood said about our politics a long time ago… he said I think we have too many laws … we need to make the laws realistic and a true form of punishment… what we have now is what I would call diluted law… because of all the needless law. When it comes down to it these damn kids need a serious spanking … lots of them… child services and state law prevent parents from doing what they need to do… instead we argue with our kids instead of controlling them… we are left reasoning with them instead of directing them… this is the reason this is all happening… couple that with society being the blind dolts that are “people in power” get whatever they want. We have to revise it all… and at this point with everyone wanting to accept all and be “fair to all” style of community is only breeding spoiled kids … so spoiled they are willing to shoot up a school for the lack of attention they experienced (sandyhook) it’s a shame… I say bring bugs bunny and Tom and Jerry originals back… ban all that sissy shit… make kids realistic again… whoop that ass when they do wrong… praise them when they do good… we’ve been bested by mainstream media
