I think that the different approaches (to buy or make own) are as old as market itself. For somebody it doesn’t make sense to make own mixes for practical reasons (availability, volume). But still it is interesting to discuss all the ingredients as it can help others.
@lotus710 please try to be more respectful to opinions of other’s…
I apologize for being disrespectful. I get waaaaaay to engaged and end up going off my head about it. Im waaay to passionate about this subject. I understand this soil mix is a great mix:) i just like to talk about how we can make the mix with less inputs and have the same outcome:) again i apologize to your grower gone wild. The way i responded was very childish and it shouldnt of been done like that. Id be happy to continue the talk on soil maybe in its own thread instead of having some poor soul suffering through my posts. Maybe get a soil head on here thats been at it for 40+ years. That would be sick!
I’m freezing my soil lately, tossed a few bags outside… I figgure a few days of 5F weather should put a hurting on whatever is in the bag.
I’ll revisit the heat strategy when its warm outside, let the bags cook in the sun prior to hot water treatment. So i can maintain the 140F suggested to sterilize the soil.
5f will def take care of problemsXD i stick my fruits n veggies outside to freeze quick before i feed em to my worms. Gets rid of fruit flys n shit. But its -14f out here right nowXD
