Blowgank420’s first grow

For me those temps and humidity are not bad, and if it were me, I would not worry too much, but if you can either lower the temps to 75F max or raise the humidity more to 60%, that would be better. That way the plants will drink less, and uptake less nutrients and stop them possibly burning or getting nitrogen toxicity.

If you are not worried about smell leave the filter off, its easier work for the fan.

No leave the fan outside the tent and have it suck air out of the tent instead of blowing it in. Air will get into the tent passively through the vents at the bottom of the tent. Keeping the fan outside reduces heat in the tent and gives you more space. If you use the filter put that in the tent so stinky air gets sucked through the filter and scrubbed. No need for another fan.

Perfect off to do that now. Thanks for the advice

So should I move the ducting to the top outlet hole? an the small clip fan down to the bottom by the port holes? Also Do you suggest a basic humidifier or one of those cool mist humidifiers that shot it into the air

I hope this doesn’t come over as condescending.

First off, nothing is set in stone, your grow is as individual as you are. Even if your neighbour had the same identical gear and set up it would be different, with the way you water, feed, soil mix, house temps. You will never get a straight answer or an answer that is perfect for your situation, because of this.

Everyone’s answer’s will vary to their personal growing experience with their environment and set up. Everything you will be told is a generalization of experience, that will not fit your circumstances exactly  but it will get you in the ball park where you need to be.

Growing weed is not an exact science unless you grow in a laboratory

So when you read something that says something like seedlings like best 80F and 60% humidity, that’s correct for the majority, but it doesn’t mean any temp or humidity, other than that is wrong, the plant will survive and grow, but just a bit slower than optimal.

I understand where you are coming from, your excited and want to do it right, I was exactly the same when I started, but dont panic if its not perfect, you will get there. Most of the fun is in the journey not the destination.

Yes and Yes, you dont want the small fan blowing directly at them mostly over the top.

I try and avoid anything that uses a lot of electricity lol. My plants do well in any humidity so long as my temps are around 75F some times they will need more water sometimes they need less. My flower room is currently at 80F with 18% humidity, not ideal, but they are doing well. Out of the 2, I would go for the basic humidifier, as it sounds more adjustable.

Doesn’t come off that way at all. I’m open to all advice an appreciate what your saying. It’s very easy to get caught up. making sure you have this an that instead of focusing on the grow an learning along the way thank you

Cool, a little more advice, I keep a journal on my PC I write down everything I do and try with my grow, from building my soil to curing my weed. Its a good way to focus on what is happening in your grow, and if you have a problem you can look at your pictures and notes, and see where and when things started to go wrong, and whether you fixed it or made it worse, and how lol.

@Shadey is there a certain program you use to keep your journal?

As of right now I’ve been using a notebook

Sorry just realized you said shady

@Blowgank420 no problem. I am just starting out and will also use a notebook. But it would be nice to find a program to use. Keep all notes, pictures, etc. in one place.

I use Evernote to track my grows. In fact most of my posts here are copy/paste from evernote. I use it for lots of other stuff to, from work to coin magic. :+1::seedling:

No, just Microsoft word. Create a folder with date and strains, I run 1 log per 8-10 weeks, which is roughly my usual veg and flower cycle. I stagger my grows so there is some overlap, especially if I fuck something up and it all takes longer :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I just list stuff as it happens, with day, date, nutrients how much and when, water how much, when and PH, what I added to it. Light heights and maximum daily temperatures and min max RH, if my fans can’t keep it controled where I want it, which is basically going to be now until late September.

Normally I run a window air-conditioner in my flower room, through this period, but as I have more weed than I know what to do with ATM, I was thinking of shutting it down for summer and just run autos in my veg tent, in the house, as the air-conditioning in the house keeps them around 75f. Then I can save about 60$ month on the electric bill :slightly_smiling_face:.

Being retired and days can blur into each other so, it’s sometimes a struggle to remember when I put a tea on or started making a fungal bacteria or what I added to the water.

Yeah I started using a note book until I dropped in a bucket of tea lol.

I have nerve damage so using a PC keyboard is easier to type than on a phone, and I can store lot of pics on the PC.

There are some apps out there that people use, not sure which are good or not though.

I believe you can start a grow diary right on here correct?

ok so the 2 cups on the left have ffof an the 1 on the right has 2 peat pellets an tiny bit of fox farm mixed in. Think it’s ready to be transferred today

Yes you can.

You could, the soil might fall apart when you take it out the pot, I usually grow mine to this size before I move them unless they are autos.

Yeah all my other seeds are all autos. The seeds I’m growing now are b.o.g blue kush reg. It was the very first pack of seeds I bought an yes I know I should of went with fems lmao especially with the amount of room I have. My thought process was even if all 3 are males I learned a lot an can either try more blue kush or move onto my autos. Question can I put an auto in a tent with reg seeds considering the light schedule?

Yeah autos will work anywhere, but the more light they get up to 20 hours, the better they will do and you can veg photos at 20 hours as well.

Its also best to start an auto in the pot it will finish in. Any stress slows the growth and with autos the clock is always ticking down so the less transplants the better.

Hopefully you will get a couple of females in there.

I had a similar thought process on my first grow using bag seed. Figured it would give me some experience if they failed, which they did lol. All six hermied half way through flower, and the soil ran out of nutrients, very disappointing.

I did learn a lot though, and didn’t waste money killing expensive seeds lol.

Well I’m not gonna lie. The first 2 seeds I germinated turned to mush lol Last time I’ll ever try the 24 hr water an seed in a cup trick lol. These ones I germinated in wet towel an sandwich baggie an they popped right away. An thank you for that info I wasn’t aware I should start & finish in the same pot with autos. So would 2 gallon smart pots be to large for auto flowers?

Just be careful using ocean forest on seedlings it’s a little hot. That’s the same soil I use for my final pots. I start them in solo cups with a mild soil then after 2 weeks or so transplant into my final 3 gal pots

By then the plants will have a good root system and all you have to do is let the soil dry a bit before transferring.

Also if your seeds turned to mush it’s not from soaking it’s because they were kept too wet after planting. Seeds will do that in paper towels as well if too wet. It’s a balancing act…too wet or to dry will kill them

Yeah I asked for the advice an like a little excited kid Went a did it anyway. An it’s showing already on the Far left one in the pic. You can actually see the at the very very tip of the leaves it’s yellow. Guessing from nut burn. I just needed to slow down a bit the initial super excitement Is done now an I’m ready to learn mr meyagi wax on wax off hahahahah sorry I’m stoned
