Depends how you are growing, Batimore, another grower here. can grow a 4 ft tall plant in one of your size cups lol.
Me personally for autos, I would use a 5 gal pot or my 10 gal smart pots, but I am doing organic no til. You are better going to big than small with soil, you dont want to run out of nutrients half way through flower, with either photos or autos.
If you are adding bottled nutrients to the water you can grow in pretty much any size pot, just depends how often you want to be watering them. You can do it in 2 gals, you may just need to add some more nutrients as you go, probably about 2 weeks before flipping the light on them, and then just a P and K nutrient after they have finished stretching.
For my grow, I need to do everything about 2 weeks before I need it as my bacteria in the soil is feeding my plants, and that’s roughly how long they take to start breaking stuff down and making it available, depending on temps and available carbohydrates in the soil that boost bacteria growth.
Yeah she was big girl but buds weren’t as dense as I would have liked. Just a little fluffy but not too bad. I suppose that’s the price you pay when you only give autos 12 hrs of light
Can anybody tell me if it’s possible for me to flip my plants to 11-13 the very first week? I’ve read a few different responses an wasn’t sure an since I’m in a small 2x2x7 if they end up being females if I’d have enough room since they aren’t auto flowers
12 / 12 is the recommended but 11 light 13 dark would also trigger flower. It will still take a good 2 weeks to sex your plants though. If you flower from seed you still wouldnt know sex for about 3 weeks.
Not sure I understand why you would want 11/13 over 12/12 though.
Put a clear one with holes in it into a red one, then you can see the roots but the outside cup still blocks light. Also it won’t drip all over your floor.
If your using reg seeds it seems to be about 50% chance of females. So 10 seeds odds would be 5 male 5 female. If they are sativa dom strains definitely flower sooner rather that later if space is a concern. The first 3 weeks of flower is when your plants really grow, after that its mostly bud development
guys what brand of smart pots do you use. I ordered a few different sizes vivosun. I’m beyond pissed I spent like 40 50$ on al these different sizes an now that I got them all opened up. Non are the original size as stated the 2 gallon an 3 gallon are like 1/2 gallons an 1 gallons an the 5 is like a 3 gallon maybe
I buy cheap ones from China, you save about 75%, the problem with gallon measurements is the US gallon is only 3.75 liters roughly where as Canadian gallons are imperial, which are 4.5 liters, so better to use liters to know what you are actually getting or find out if they are US or Imperial gals.
Noticed 2 things so far number 1 being having a fan blowing on your plants is great but keep the speed of it down or it makes the leaves start to twist a bit. Also I see the difference between the plants that I put directly into fox farms an the one that sat in the peat pellets. Look at the growth size going directly into fox farms way larger but the leaves are also a little lighter in color from the nut burn but looks like they will be ok
So I decided to transfer the smaller one over to a bigger cup an added perlite an filled in the cup with some extra perlite to help with drainage. I haven’t notice any fungas nats our anything since the one fly. But not 100% sure it was fungas nat an not a bug sucked in by my intake exhaust. Lol I’m in the process of getting some DE food grade. An some traps but as of right now everything on amazon seems to be ripoffs. So I’m the process of searching for a store where I get all the little shit I need for measuring nuts etc. then I think I’d like to drop 2 auto flowers but not sure if I’d be pushing my luck with auto flower an pheno in the same tent.
Yeah unless you are going to veg the whole time you have the autos in there, I would wait, you can do it but you will be reducing light time for your photo period plants when the autos are looking for max light.
The best way to keep fungus gnats in check, is not over watering, or better water from the bottom of the pot.
Watch the dust from DE it will damage your eyes and lungs. If you’re thinking of using it on top of your soil, it will turn into a sticky gloopy mess if you use to much. I just put a light sprinkle on the floor of my clone cab, as the gnats prefer to run around than fly.
A two inch layer of playground sand at the top of the pots will prevent the adults from laying eggs in the soil. You can buy it at any home improvement store.
So the lil guy on the right is still hanging his head a little bit. Not sure if it’s gonna make it or not. But I’m gonna drop 1 or 2 more beans today an squeeze them into the tent lol. Although I really would like to start some autoflowers so might just wait an see how these 3 make out. 2 look like another week an I’ll be able to top it. Everything I read said top after it hits the 5th node is that correct?
You can top your plants once they hit the 5th node or more if you want multiple tops or if you just want to activate lower branching you can bend the top of the plant, which is less stress full.
