These seeds look like they all have the beef in the bun…
our first time working with Bodhi seeds, we’ve heard good things.
Thinking about Sundance for daytime and Time Bandit at night. (GLG) has these available.
I grew one female Sundance outdoors a few years ago but lost the plant due to botrytis, but the smells coming off that plant were incredible, extreme lemon citrus with mint. Still have 9 seeds left that I will get to sooner rather than later.
Shoe at Headie Gardens had this one in his vault. Prayer Tower Sativa and he tossed in 6 seeds of Lemon Penetration.
Here’s my Blue Sunshine, Lavender Jack, and Black Triangle F3. BT was popped 4 days after the other 2. I popped some other beans alongside it. The BT and the Hillbilly Skunk are the shortest ones out of the bunch still. Everything else is about 8 to 12 in tall
Prayer Towerrrrrr! Old-school, baby, from back when Bodhi used to actually write descriptions of his crosses and shit haha…
I grew that one years ago, from the original release, before Bodhi made his “Indica” and “Sativa” Prayer Tower selections. I think it was my very first grow ever, actually, but I only got to smoke a few early nugs that snapped off the last couple weeks, lost the rest in a drying mishap (I was a newb, what can you do?). Here’s the grow report if you’re interested: https://www.thcfarmer.com/threads/bodhi-apollo-11f4-and-other-strains.78517/
I recall huge rails of flowers up every single branch. You should grow those for sure.
You all probably know I like to clown on Berner sometimes for riding in on the coattails of a bay area rap legend, and homogenizing the genepool with unstable polyhybrid genetics. I like the music better than the weed. I’m a medical patient from the bay area so I had a pretty good view of Berner’s early branding and promotion, and the spread of the cookies genetics.
I’m looking forward to some announcements from Bodhi and Berner on this. I think it’s reasonable to be a little concerned. I think this is a good conversation for us to have. I’m not jumping to any conclusions.
This is an open letter to the community to help start this discussion. Please share it if you like.
After cookies was introduced and hyped, most of the old bay area medical lines were hybridized with cookies and the originals disappeared.
A lot of patients gradually lost access to the meds they depended on to maintain their quality of life while living with chronic or terminal illnesses.
The situation got much worse after legalization when a lot of the old med clubs changed or closed down because of the new rules. When the prop 215 collective system was demolished, most of the old lines held by private collectives were lost to the public when patients and caregivers could no longer run private farms legally.
From the perspective of a former prop 215 caregiver and patient, it seems like without the diversity of the prop 215 collectives, Berner practically has a genetic monopoly (or at least, near total market saturation with the cookies genetics and brand).
As more brands have popped up, most of them sell a custom version of cookies, or cookies hybrids. Here in Oregon, the traditional medical and black market lines have also disappeared and been replaced with cookies. Old local favorites like blue magoo and cinex are gone. All I can get legally in dispensaries here is cookies and its hybrids.
Between the death of the prop 215 prop 420 system and Berner’s rapid expansion in the commercial market, a lot of valuable medical lines and genetic variety was lost.
For serious medical patients, it is very important to have a variety of meds to address different symptoms, and to keep from developing a tolerance. Sustained use of the same genetics gradually diminishes the medicinal effects. Even using multiple hybrids won’t make much difference if they all come from the same parent line. Genetic diversity is important in any genepool, but genetic homogenization is particularly concerning to medical patients.
I am really looking forward to hearing from Bodhi and hopefully Berner as well. I left california a while ago, so at this point I am a little out of touch with the CA cannabis community. Hopefully this has improved now. I have friends in the CA legal cannabis industry at 710 Labs and other processor / grower companies, and it still seems like the vast majority of what they grow is cookies derivative.
I’d love to hear your opinions on this. And I’d love to hear from other bay area and CA growers about the availability of the old med lines. I used to grow an amazing variety of meds from prop 215 collectives and harborside oakland. As far as I can tell that diversity is no longer available to the average patient.
I hope to see Berner use this partnership to expand the diversity of lines he offers beyond cookies and its hybrids. I can’t fault him for his personal success, but I think if some additional consideration had been made to the genetic diversity of the plant, and the needs of patients, it could have made this a benefit to the whole community.
Anyone got any 411 on the Black Raspberry strain?
I can speak for the dispensaries I frequent in San Diego, and while the overwhelming majority of available strains are cookies and it’s hybrids, there are still a lot of OG’s on the market here. Funny enough, Goji OG is actually being sold at my main dispensary right now. Not much else though besides OG’s and Cookies derivatives.
Just got done reading the thread. Those PT’s looked KILLER! I think the structure of both were Green Crack influenced. Below is a pic of Green Lotus from the thread on IC Mag. Def saw a lot of that morphology come through on your PT’s. You can also see it in this pic of Crystal Ship (Green Crack x Very Berry Kush) from Golden Lion Genetics. Pretty crazy that it knocked you out instead of getting you “high”. I got the sativa version, so I’m really hoping to get that “up” feeling from them, but if they knock me out like it did for you, I won’t mind too much. Def sounds like it was some potent shit!

First of all, great to see you around, @zephyr. I miss you, too, like I miss @stanknugzz77 haha…
Secondly, I think the very last sentence in your post says it all.
Do you really think that dipshit cared about anything beyond making money? I mean really, I could expound, but the bottom line is: Berner made a shit cross, the line got hyped, people bought into the hype and now we’re stuck with this garbage being around. Like you said, I don’t necessarily fault the GSC people for making money; I fault the people who hyped a shit strain. I wonder what exactly their motivation was/is.
Ultimately, though, I think it’s a good thing, at least for the people who actually care about what they’re growing/breeding/smoking. There’ll always be people who are like,”Uhhhh, I dunno, I think GSC is pretty good!” Those people are not the ones using cannabis for medicinal purposes. Unfortunately, they make up the majority of the market. And if you’re in the business of selling weed and The People demand GSC and its hybrids, what’re growers/sellers supposed to do?
I mean, you mentioned the old collectives that catered to their clients’ needs. That shit is out the window now, in CA anyway. As soon as recreational passed in CA, that was it. Once Capitalism gets thrown into the mix, any idea of doing something that actually helps people is not a consideration. Which is why I voted “no” on Prop 214. Or 215. Whatever number that legalization bill was a few years ago, even though cannabis should absolutely be legal for everybody.
As far as Bodhi’s collaboration with the GSC thing is concerned, I really don’t care. I won’t buy those crosses. I never have. We can all speculate on what the motivation behind that was, but we don’t know yet. I do not think that Bodhi’s “selling out” or anything. He doesn’t need to. Dude’s drops sell out every time. So maybe he’s doing this for a noble purpose. I dunno. Nobody does just yet.
Shit, dude, you can just post my pictures like that wherever you want? For real? Fuck… haha!
Yeah, if I remember correctly, the Prayer Towers were making me think of Green Crack, but that was a while back. I do remember more than a few nights watering the plants and then getting into bed and thinking I had a sorta “brown sugar” smell all over me, like Bodhi wrote in his old description of that cross, too, which isn’t anything like Green Crack. They smelled real good, though, super-bummed I never got to try any of the properly dried/cured nugs.
According to my list, I still have some of those seeds in my fridge, but I can’t find them, which, BUMMER haha.
Yeah I can’t see any type of “collaboration” between the two without it being cookies/derivative x bodhi’s males, or the reverse unless it’s berner carrying bodhi’s gear at the stores instead…
I just used the snipping tool in Windows lol. That def sucks. Would have loved a smoke report on the other pheno. Maybe it had some different qualities to it.
Brothers Grimm is working with hype strains now too. They have Grimm Mints (Kush Mints x Pineapple C99), Soul Cookies (GSC x C99), Smuckers 99 (Smuckers x C99), Grimm Truffles (White Truffles x C99)…
Yeah I saw that! They had that White Truffle one all over IG the other day
Yeah, but in any event, we don’t know the purpose or reasoning behind the collab. And honestly, who cares? If Bodhi wants to sell out and get a little wealthy, I can’t fault him for that. After a while, struggling gets pretty exhausting. Even in my early twenties, before I really knew what struggling was haha, I used to say,”I’d be in a Boy Band for one album, if it meant I could just make a shitload of money and do my own thing for the rest of my life.”
And I can’t think of another breeder who deserves to be independently wealthy than Bodhi. Is it disappointing to see him get together with a bunch of dipshits like the GSC people? Sure. But again, as we’ve speculated, maybe there’s a higher purpose. And if there isn’t, so what? I’m kind of sick of always having to hold the people we admire to a higher standard. Fuck the Internet. Bodhi can do what he wants. I’m certain he’s not gonna just trash all of his gear and start pumping out GSC hybrids haha.
brothers grimm is only as good as whoever mr soul has as the breeding partner and, imo, should be considered hype too.
Totally agree with your sentiments @minitiger
On the one hand, I hate cookies and berner but, just looking at this possible collab and trying to see a glass half full scenario, maybe there working together leads to more exposure for bodhi and the ethos he brings to the plant. Maybe it helps push some of the zaza hype bois towards more unique genetics or helps galvanize the uninvested consumers to explore stuff beyond cookies. Bodhi is a well intentioned guy if nothing else so I can’t help but think that’s probably part of his goal here. I won’t ever buy his cookies collab gear but, if it helps turn people on to the stuff beyond cookies, and helps fund his continued preservation of strains and cool crosses and selections maybe it’s a good thing.
We should speculate on names lol
Wookie Cookies
Goji Cookies
Mountain Cookies
Temple Cookies
Cookie Hashplant
Cookiefam Cookie Preservation F3
This is what I am hoping. I don’t think the world needs more GSC hybrids in seed form, but I would definitely like to see more diverse offerings from dispensaries like berner’s cookies chain.
Many MMJ patients are unable to grow for themselves and have to rely on the legal market for their meds.
A decent amount of diversity is available in seed lines, but frankly they are a grey market outside of the legal nursery system. I would love to see patients be able to get whatever meds they need legally at dispensaries again.
Sounds about right
oh bro… lemme get a sack of that… uhhhh… cheetah piss lotus?
