As I was saying… I would not breed with it … just possibly observe & note. I would not expect any non-hermi tendencies from it’s potential off-spring/crosses…

If you get seeds from the female clusters on that male, they should be all male. I think I recall some breeder back in the day speculating that herm males were better for some reason. I think this was DJ Short? I can’t logic my way to a good reason why naturally herm-prone pollen would be better if we’re trying to produce seedless weed. Makes no sense from here.

Chopped 3 Bodhi related Black Triangle x Copper Chem 12/12 from seed this morning. Average size with big heavy nuggets. All quite faded and one has gone deep purple. Chem and fuel with some incense smells right now. Two single cola, one turned into a small bush with smallish buds.

I’ll start by saying I don’t think I agree, but I think DJ, and others position was that fully male plants who exhibit some later flower pistils have like a higher tendency to pass along beneficial female traits, basically like they are essentially super feminine males, he was talking about using those males to cross to a proven female, I don’t know how I feel about whether or not I agree with his assertions, but that’s my general understanding of his position on the matter. If I’m incorrect on that and someone knows better please correct me.

I think it’s important to consider many of his observations are on his specific lines that he works and is probably not applicable across the entire spectrum of cultivars out there to be used as general rules. To me it reads as if the unstable traits correlate to a preferred parent in his crosses and that’s why he favors them? I remember similarly on ICMAG he always seemed to speak favorably towards the crinkle / mutated / variegated phenotypes as being the place to look for the “keepers” which I believe he speculated the use of colchicine in the chocolate thai as the source for the mutants & variegation.
I’m no breeder but I definitely agree with this logic.

Would be cool to see if the she-males could make their own seed from those pistils or if they are sterile. I’ll re’veg & flower the stumps up in the far away swamp and see what happens.

Let me know what happens with that guava hashplant auction, that’s one of my favorite bodhi lines. I’m curious to hear what they sell for.

Well damn! recently did some pollen collection and I had a massive snow monkey that was sexed as a female but ended up throwing 75% male colas with the remaining female. I mulled and mulled, then I culled. At first I was going to let it pollinate itself but was afraid what hermaphroditic tendencies might show in the progeny…he/she was certainly frosty at the two week mark right before the chop, shit.

Are you in the northern hemisphere? I could see plants freaking out a bit if they’re flowering outdoors during Spring (or any time after the winter solstice, really), when the days are getting longer and not shorter.

ha right, I’m in illinois and all my veggies and fruits are flowering now. They’ll veg again over the summer and flower again in the fall. In cannabis, we call this, Monster Cropping

Chasing that sweet berry/butter SSDD aroma I got to sample way back in 2014. I have to say growing Bodhi has been a blessing with this being my first true genetics and breeder seed to grow. Not to say that what I have been cultivating isnt good (I even hit these with one of my males) but knowing the lineage versus having no clue what genetics I am throwing around has been great.

If it where me I’d do black triangle and the tres fighter x sm cross haven’t ran bt myself yet but seen so many solid reports on it it’s on my list to find and try out sometime and because of the lineage I’m super intrigued by strawberry milk stuff but honorable mention to air guitar because temple x wookie cross sounds awesome too
