because if i didn’t buffer the coco coir then with Calmag lets say…
When i do add the calmag it will then cause a build up of the potassium and sodium which in return will lock out the calcium? am i on the right lines?

Yep and why coco coir requires more calcium and magnesium.
love it thank you! i’m officially a scientist!
Lastly so do you think… even rinsing coco-coir very very well… would also help with this?
might be a bit of a silly Q tbh because i guess rinsing anything usually causes goodness and cleansing!
Fist step is rinsing until it runs clear, second step is buffering. Even just using epsom salt works to buffer it.
Your babies look beautiful!! You’re doing great!!!
Thank you @Reithel appreicate you dropping by!
Sooo I decided to drop a few beans tonight!!
1x Blue dream X Girl scout cookies
1x Jacks Rainbow
1x Dutch Passion ( white widow )
1x Ice cream Cake
All fem seeds!! fingers crossed I can blow this one out of the water with the new set up… It will be my second ever grow from seed and I have lots of toys gadgets and now some good amateur knowledge on board!
Most excellent! Dive right into round #2! Bravo!
All you guys dropping beans are making me itch to drop some too. I’m already maxed out for plants. Until I get some of these into flower.
It won’t be long. My Buddha’s Cane plants are really taking off good. I will be getting some clones from those girls. Plus I have a really busy Skywalker that’s begging to go to flower and some other clones of Ice Cream Cake and Island Sweet Skunk ( my fave) going too, but those are baby clones right now. Plus my outdoor plants. Hell, I might be over by a plant or two. Hehe.
You will be amazed at how smooth and well the second grow goes vs. the first one. Day and night, unless you were not paying attention! Haha.
Sounds like your balls deep bro haha 🫘🫡
Just wait til they all ripen and mature at the same time and you’re faced with drying, cleaning and curing them all at the same time!! Whooohoo!! We’re havin’ some fun now!!!
Well, looks like your first grow is coming along… you’ll find out soon!
I’m sure it will man I’ve learned some very important steps ain’t that right @ReikoX
some lovely daytime shots of the setup!
that foliage on the clones is looking great if i didn’t have papaya in there id be getting the trellis net out and that whole tent would be filled ready for some big colas!
I have a Question… So i picked up some CANNA cal mag agent…
now on the instructions it gives a dosage instruction tordwards soft water by saying add 0.1 - 1 ml / per Litre until you get a correct EC…
** Obviously silly me didnt research this before i bought it!! **
Sshould I just add 1ml per litre then even in my hard water if its needed later when plants get to mid veg / flower…
I have hard water so it does already contain traces of calcium / magnesium… just i see no instructions aimed at my type of water.
Thanks BM
If you had soft water, I could see your potentially needing cal mag. As you have hard water, it would be best to find a water analysis for your area to check the composition of your local water. Many hard water sources are already high in Calcium and Magnesium and so don’t need supplementation. That said, “if” you should see signs of deficiency later and decide to use the cal mag, start out on the low end of the suggested amount and see what effect it has, and then bump up the level if and only if the issue continues to persist.
On their website it says 2-4ml/gal depending on your water. Should start on the lower end. Since you are in coco I highly recommended checking out cocoforcannabis.com that guy is a horticulturalist and university professor, and all of the guides on his website only use peer reviewed scientific studies. As the coco fibers break down it exposes new cation exchange sites. Dr. Coco always says you are adding extra calmag for the coco, NOT the plant. Once you are in mid to late flower the roots are fully grown and the fiber stops breaking down as much, so it’s also important to reduce the amount of extra calmag so your plant can take up more of the other nutrients.
This article is called How and Why to Use Calmag in Coco, highly recommend : https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/needcalmag/
Appreciate the info and advice! thank you
This is interesting Thank you. I have checked that out I buffered up the coco coir as suggested before hand ( lashed it and soaked twice with good calmag / Ph correct water…
Hopefully with the good studying i put in i can gain some extra rewards for my efforts!
I will never be a professor but we can certainly take their advice and get the benefits!
