At least i have the experience of a small space and stumpy plant before i move on to the 2x4 6ft tent which I will have much more leverage with… ( dimmable lights more height etc etc )
I upped the nutrients tonight as i believe shes well into veg now and can take near full feedings in comparison to the 3 part chart.
Hello again everyone, so far so good over here! excellent growth, healthy plant… decent PPM and PH run offs etc.
My first ever plant is currently on Day 21 ( 3 weeks old )
So I’m growing in coco coir & perlite only no supplemented soil or anything!
Ive been feeding a light feeding of base nutrients and all is well!! ( With a touch of calmag )
May be a bit of a dumb Question but do you guys do any type of flushing or laying off nutrients even if my plant is showing no signs of bad health or deficiency?
The reason I ask is because I was wondering if PPMs would slowly rise or PH would very slowly rise even if a plant is doing its best it can with the correct Feedings / PH / PPM / envrionment etc etc…
If i remember correctly my PH run off started off at around 6.27 and has hardly jumped up its now about 6.33…
I grow in coco and if you feed consistently to runoff there is really no need to flush unless your plants have an issues. Well at least that’s what I have found. I also never check my runoff.
I’m a newbie myself but if I interpreted my research right I do not think it is necessary, especially if you are watering to runoff and draining, but I will say I did flush it my last grow as if it were soil (hadn’t researched coco enough yet) and had deficiencies. I do flush the last week or two of flower but I know that is debatable if necessary in the community! Along with overgrow https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/watering_coco/ is a great resource!
Yeah, if you are feeding to runoff you are basically flushing with new nutes every day. Now I do screw up from time to time so I flush to kind of reset the medium but otherwise just keep moving forward if the plants are happy.
I use coco/peat/perlite. If I feed a gallon of nutes. I water a gallon of straight water before I feed that gallon. Every couple weeks I toss a micro dose in. I switched to just Micro Dose nutes and a TBS of Bushdoctor Bembe My plants love this every other week micro dose of nutes and Bushdoctor Bembe has a little bit of molasses. Peace.
Nice really glad to hear peoples experiences with their mediums etc… Yeah i guess i dont need to add the molasses as im not feeding any soil hence why i probably wouldnt need to alternate with balanced water feeds unless i messed up or like yourself had peat in with it aswell… at least i think thats correct anyway! or something along them lines.
I run recirculating coco. So if the res ppm rises I just add water to reach desired ppm. If your consistently feeding 600 and getting 900 or more on runoff id feed at like 300 for a day or two.
pretty much as the others say, no need to flush unless problems or say if your changing your feed but flushign typically causes more issues than not, and end of cycle you can just go straight water for the last week or so there is a point where the plants shut down anyways so feeding past that point is well pointless, its observable in your run off as the EC will start to spike.
Feed daily and replace the fluid volume they used since last feed and at a strength appropriate for the stage they are at. That way you won’t need to flush…or even feed to run off (because that’s flushing out the microheard too btw).
When you get good results it can be more addictive than consuming the product
interesting… thanks alot for the input… I guess for my first plant and coco / coir perlite only run off is important practice for a few reasons, dont you think?
I run mostly coco. Never test ph of runoff. I ALWAYS feed 5.8. I’ve heard you can swing 5.8-6.2 but imho it causes problems. Consistency is key. Runoff ec is helpful in veg not so much in flower imho. I only flush if rnoff ec is about 600 ppm over input. Flush with half strength feed. Other than that flushing is for toilets.
I feel you, I guess the more you go through it the more you can skip things as it always works… example how much ph down you drip into a gallon once you know a certain amount works you dont test it… ( I probably always still would just for good practice ) mine has been fed at 6.00 and shes loving life!
