Thats it mate - exactly I found with my journey like… Im only really starting to enjoy and feel confident about finally seeing the strains potential… so it makes it all that bit more satisfying when buying the beans… As opposed to before i was thinking yep il buy these they look nice then once id start the run id think they were growing ok but they really wern’t Id make excuses, Id change the wrong things… Id blame the light when it was probably the EC, I would then wonder why m bud is so airy… and the leafs were so yellow in early flower… all these mistakes i made over about 1.5 years and things are starting to click…
In a nutshell,
EC, Environment, Light strength, PH testing (ALOT) almost every time i water because nute solutions do change and fluctuate, knowing how to treat you medium and read run off, airflow… all of these things if you can get it right and get all the basics right from the off… hopefully will end up with bud like they display when you buy the seeds… I guess il soon find out if i can nail the flowering stage with this new space run… (y)
Preach brother! Been there done that. This recent one had me thinking it was either pests, nute deficiency, overwatering, or underwatering. Guess what it was. Stupid me putting ac infinity s6 oscillating fans full blast on 10 at the plants like why are the leaves curling. Now I laugh about it and think man I just wasn’t thinking but then I was so mad thinking I’ve tried everything until I asked the right questions backed with pictures of the grow environment and this veteran was like hey dummy your fans right on your leaves ahh ya live and learn. Just do the research before panicking and making adjustments to get your ladies healthy thats the biggest thing. Sometimes it takes a couple deep breaths, a step back, and dare I say it listening to your woman while she yapped in my ear i told you we shouldn’t have the fans on the plants but above them
Yes it looks a bit bare right now but i’m confident these plants are super happy and will recover in no time! I did accidently snap 2 mid branches so had to snip them unfortunately not something i like doing incase of disturbing the plant too much or causing it to herm out but there we go its all fun and games…
Bad news!!! - I found a condensation puddle where the duct leaves the space it is ice cold due to the -1c weather outside ( where the duct ends )
Its not a rapid drip but its worrying as no-one wants small puddles of water above them / near electrics etc ive put a blue towel there for now and will look to wrap the duct in fluff and foil tape…
Can anyone tell me if the AC infinity extractors are built to handle a little condensation and dripping here and there?
Looking good @Budmeister! That’s probably how my ladies are gonna look tomorrow when I post up my defoliation pics lol. Everyone always freaks out and say take too much but they bounce back rather quick
Yeah man, i’ve been told that a few times… im sure over time il be experimenting with all different ( light hearted methods )
my other girls are looking preety cool im going to flip them a bit earlier… due to space… here they are looking quite happy as compared to the other day!
So I took a few big fan leaves off the smaller girls in my smaller space they were completely blocking all the new growth… These Gelatos are sooo short and bushy everything is bunched up…
They are on Day 38 since dropping the beans…
hmmm. I wonder if that is genetics
or possibly my environment they look healthy enough… but they are only 7-8 inches tall but 9 inches wide lol… probably a combo of a few things and to be honest if i’ve slowed the growth down a touch its probably a blessing in disguise… ( I bet some will think BM you are just experiencing different genetics some are ready to flip by 4th week some ready to flip by 7th week from start…
can anyone chime in? I also have to add the humidity hasn’t really gone past 50%!! unfortunately would that stunt stretch in veg a bit?
ok… the 5 plants in my smaller 2x4 consisting of 4 Gelato and 1 Gelonade are looking pretty cool! Showing their indica dominant traits…
Im on the look out for a mother from one of these or even a 1 off cut and clone then il flower them…
I think i should probably do a mix up from both strains and see what happens… Then maybe decide on a dedicated mother…
ive been experimenting cut a few big fan leaves… as you can see in these pictures the most uniform / biggest one happens to be the Gelonade… the others are short bushy gelatos! looking forward to cloning / flowering them out.
Quick update on the strawberry campino in the flower space! Looking all good they seem to be in full swing now so they are on full feed at 2.0 - 2.1 EC ( however im slightly increasing the Canna Boost over the next 2 weeks and then… hopefully it should be PK time!
Lots on and lots to look forward to in the Hobby Hotel
can’t wait to press some nugs maybe and create some good consumables
Have you found a solution to this? I was thinking maybe insulated ducting could help keep the temps up a bit more until the warm, moist air passes the fan and leaves the house. I assume you’re exhausting straight outside from your attic?
Also, plants are looking good!..all of them!
Nice defoliation on those bigger girls!
yeahhh i think it was actually when i was defoliating i had the door open which confused the environment a bit and had the foil duct dripping and running down the extractor filter a bit to cause a puddle… havnt saw anything bad since!!
fingers crossed it was a one off!
Yeah the insulation would be a game changer i think too! something to improve on next time.
are your triggers in the ac controller based on temps and humidity or vpd? about 8 days ago one post looked like vpd was slightly too high on them but it obviously didnt end up in anything negative… but youre entering the stage now where those numbers are great and plants are showing none of the signs now. i use vpd because it automatically adjusts to temp fluctuations for me.
I don’t use any automation other than on the heat setting for temperature…
umm… i’m not entirely sure which post it is your referring to pal… but every time i did check the VPD wasn’t bad at all unless I was interfering with the set up myself such as leaving door open too long or maybe even lights on lights off… not to forget crazy UK weather too!!
Yea without a humidifier I don’t know how you’d get humidity up but if it’s a perpetual flower room then seems like a non issue.
I only mention it because I fiddled around with temp/rh with finicky strains til I just set the VPD triggers. The step up function helps stop any devices from turning on and off too often as well.
The leaf curling here was what I was referring to. Like you said must be from leaving the room open for a while.
ahhh… this one… now this actually happened when I had increased the light level the night before so i turned it back down and after a good old feed it went away!!
Could have been VPD but my guess is light / heat stress not entirely sure!
Thanks though its inputs like this i love because it sometimes gives you new ideas that i wouldnt have thought about as VPD is a good bullseye for sure!
So it looks like the 1 x free Gelonade seed I received is growing ok but its definitely showing some sort of deficiency that doesn’t look too clever!!
It seems there are brown spots appearing on the leaves!!
I know the environment isnt ideal in this tent but compared to the Gelato its the only one that seems a little off…
