CaliBest420 aka Mark on Strainly

Hey I posted that pic above and that is the Afghan KUSH from calibest420. Mark is just trying his best and doing it almost alone. I won’t argue with people about anything. If you don’t want or enjoy this seed manufacturer, then move on.

Afghan KUSH in the pic above, was grown in coco/perlite hlg lighting

Looking forward to all of these. The blueberry he’s using is one of his blue cookies

I’m going to add the latest Txt exchange from “Mark”:

Thanks misterbee, I’ll have 3 new Indica blends in a few days and the GMO crosses are ready as well. These are the best ones yet. The older a plant gets the more THC it’s produces so these multiple generation cloned the commercial guys send me to make these crosses are all above 30 percent. I love making new strains it just takes a long time to make a new F1".

I know, personally, that he reproduces for MANY known Sellers. His deal is he keeps X% of what he runs, does NOT sell outside the U.S. I always say “Buyer Beware”, but won’t knock his hustle. A lot of growers have his seeds and don’t even know it (and paid MORE than what he charges!!). SS/BW…mister :honeybee: :100:  :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Couldn’t agree more. Id rather give my money to SkunkVA @ $10-12 per seed for a real representation of chem. There’s people that kept these cuts around for along time for us all to enjoy and still work them. At $1 a seed and invested time in electricity and nutes why not spend a few extra bucks and have guaranteed fire in the garden. Theres a 99.99% chance this dude doesnt have the real chem to breed with anyway.

Buy once, cry once. :v:

I’m responding to Mark’s quote here, not you misterbee.

This makes no sense, and is completely innacurate.

First of all, the phrase “multiple generation cloned” makes no sense at all, clones do not have generations. They are by definition the same plant, and there are no changes.

Clones can acclimatize, meaning the phenotypical expression may be different depending on the environment you grow them in. This does not change the genetics or potency, it’s literally just a matter of the same plant being grown with different methods and conditions, and turning out a little bit differently.

How would someone possibly arrive at the conclusion that the longer a plant has been cloned, the more thc it produces. This demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of how cloning and breeding works.

“above 30 percent” is very implausible. unrealistic thc percentages like this are the result of retailers inflating test results, or testing companies putting their finger on the scale to provide favorable results that will result in clients doing repeat business with them if they can provide a higher marketable thc percentage than other labs, or commercial producers “dusting” samples by rolling them in keef and over-drying to skew the thc by weight ratio.

And that’s if a lab test is actually performed. This sounds more like a number the guy pulled out of his @$$.

@misterbee either this guy is a poser with no clue what he is talking about , or this guy is deliberately selling you a line of bullshit here.

and last,
“I love making new strains it just takes a long time to make a new F1”
an f1 is a first generation hybrid, so it doesn’t take a long time to make an f1. It takes one single grow cycle.

What brands, and according to who?

I could only imagine that being true if he was a contract grower for one of the crappy high volume spanish companies that had to restructure after the raids in spain a few years ago. He’s working with their BS euro knockoff genetics, so that would make sense.
Or maybe a north america based scam like crop king.

I guess my point here is working for a company that outsources their breeding operations doesn’t exactly reflect on him positively.

buyer beware is right… but I will absolutely call this guy out for his bullshit.

I was NOT alluding to ANY veracity of the Guy, ONLY quoting directly from correspondence received. I, too, question his perception of f1/crosses, etc. I took ZERO issue with your comments…to each, his own. SS/BW…mister :honeybee: :100:  :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Right on. and thanks for understanding that when I speak critically of Mark, it doesn’t have any bearing on you Misterbee.

I’ve just seen enough people happy with the genetics they’ve received that I figured it was worth a shot. If I don’t find any keepers out of the packs I’m not gonna lose any sleep on it but I have a feeling that’s not gonna be the case.

I’ll say again what I finished after growing out one of his seeds. It was absolutely worth the 40 cents I paid for it.

Here’s how I look at ordering from Mark. If you’re strapped for cash or don’t know where to get good genetics, he’s friendly as all get-out and even sends the seeds out before receiving payment. If you’re a stickler for knowing exactly what you’re growing, don’t breed with his seeds because nobody knows what they are, probably including him - if you need a certain variety for medicine and can’t do without, don’t depend on him to have it. If all you’re looking for is some decent plants to grow from cheap seeds, he’s your guy and you can absolutely depend on him for that.

Strapped for cash is about where I’m at, currently laid off trying to get some decent strains together. I’ve gotten a bunch of strains from greenpoint with their reverse auctions and discount codes for pretty damn cheap but wanted to switch things up a bit from their crosses. Actually found out about mark going through a greenpoint thread on here

It’s to bad he was not more upfront in regards to his genetics, he is very responsive when you want to buy seeds but never respond to questions about the outcrosses.
Just one example is him listing bubba kush and chem both clone only varieties, it should say bubba kush cross or if your lucky a backcross but even then using what other strain. If your expecting bubba kush type plants and he bred a lanky sativa in there it will never be even close to the same. I’m not saying you won’t find good plants but maybe the strains should just be called marks good weed seed

I agree it would be nice if he gave more details on the lineage. He seems to have a lot of happy customers. I picked up his chemdog, bubba kush, and afghani kush with a few others and will be doing a grow journal. For the price of his beans and the amount of happy returning customers figure it’s worth trying his stuff out

Well got my delivery from mark. True to his reputation he hooked it with way more seeds than I ordered and threw in pack of GMO. Really looking forward to hunting through these. I hope more people will find this and post up their experiences with marks strains :v:

Well with modern weed having little to no seeds I see him as more a source for seeds to get started. Unlike when I started and you had a bunch of brick/bag seed to play with, that really don’t exist like it used.

As for not being what he says they are, well back to the old days. How many modern strains have genetics that trace back to a bag seed that some random person claimed was something but there was really no way to know. How many dealers truly knew where their weed was coming from. Could call it Colombian red but it actually came out of some field in Mexico, very few truly knew.

I think he’s a great source for people just starting. He can provide a bunch of cheap seeds for beginners to kill and stress before they start spending 10x or more per seed.

He shouldn’t be renaming clone only strains and making his own version of well known seed strains and renaming them also
This is not good for anyone but himself it’s just not a fair practice it’s just for sales

Crossing and auto to a photoperiod Plant doesn’t make and auto .
It’s just praying on the less educated and broke and sick people
But each his own

I agree , I’ve learned over the years to accept red flags for what they are and not support people who have no integrity when it comes to matters like this.
I dident realize he was now selling bunk auto flower genetics, even a auto flower to a auto flower can have unpredictable results and must be tested before being released with any sort of claims towards flowering time or when it triggers.

Feel like you’re being a bit harsh. He’s got solid genetics and has helped out a lot of people. Just because the dudes rusty with making autos doesn’t make him a bad guy. I don’t blame him for staying away from ruderalis. Any auto I’ve tried looked and smelled great but had no punch at all. Only benefit I can see is for cash crop and medicinal stuff for cbd and cbg plants.

He’s got the fire for an amazing price and some people just hate on him because they have thousands of dollars invested into high dollar packs that are ok.

I’ll continue to support mark and so will many others

Ordered 6 packs 5 strains and this is what I got. And each one is well more than 10 seeds. He’s the man and I’m looking forward to documenting his gear here and other places
