Cannatrol users

So I just harvested 350 grams dry out of my cannatrol. I didn’t even have it stuffed this time. To my surprise after 8 days I verified that the product was at 60% putting a calibrated sensor in a jar full off bud, after 6 hours it was at exactly 60% I have changed by settings a bit so I do run it now the 8 days. I am running dew point at 54.0 for the entire 8 days then 54.5 for storage. I will be consistently checking the product in the cannatrol to see how it stabilizes. Until I need it again lol. Hope everyone has a great memorial weekend!

I also verified the cannatrol with the same tool I did this and the cannatrol was within .1 of my calibrated probe. To my surprise.

Yup… it’s definitely pinpoint accuracy… I love the facts bro thank you!

I’m curious as to what the wettest a person could go is… I assume curing wetter and holding drier is best… what do you guys think ?

For the cure itself… I’d like to try super wet… find the molding point… and stay just below that… slope to the holding which would be closer to everyone else… around 54 dp… maybe less for the hold

But to go from drier to wetter after cure seems like the wrong direction is it not?

Also… I need to know the probe you’re using because it seems reliable as well

That’s why I have me settings at the top of what we want at far as humidity. I’ve changed it and tested different settings and amount of days at this point. So far I think the way I have it now is the best for me right now. I might even try next time seeing it at 54.5 which I believe is 62%. So right at the top of what we want then test it and see what I get. Usually once I know it’s been stabilized in the cannatrol I put it in jars and grove bags Both with long and short term storage. This will give me side by side comparison in 6 months or whenever I decide but at least 6 months is what I’m shooting for.

Are you writing a horror movie!

I’ve not played with the settings at all, but I’m interested in hearing about what others find

Fieldpiece JL3RH it is part of a HVAC/R kit that I have. But you can purchase separately. I used to be in refrigeration now I am in Building Automation. So now I use those tools for my grows and side work.

Yes it’s called little shop of dank horrors lol

Well the reason I ask is… u went from drier to wetter cure to hold… I’d think wetter to drier may work better for the curing itself buddy… just my opinion… I’m no cure specialist lol

You know as long as it’s drying any amount. Will it mold if there’s proper airflow? Or will it just dry the outside and totally the inside? I never have tried to find out it’s always been prevent mold mindset. But I like it.

You might have to set it about 65% this has me really curious. I’ll probably jar have to find out.

Between us all I have 100 percent faith we will find out…I imagine it may be strain specific once we get to the latter stage of understanding

From my understanding it won’t rehydrate. So my thought was by that time you have the sponge in there. Now if my buds are at 60% and I set my cannatrol to 62% us it just using the vapor from the sponge and allowing curing to happen being that it’s stable? Just my thought but I do understand what you are saying.

Working on building automation we have have to program drying and curing rooms for cannabis. They do start high and taper down over time. I’m just taking it to one level and leaving it there. I do not hang it for a day either I just chop it and chuck it in. What does everyone else do?

I’m in New Mexico at 5000 feet, and it’s very dry. I found it helps a lot to keep the sponge wet.

Edit: Apologies for jumping into a middle of a conversation. I was catching up on the thread.

Interesting. I think I check my sponge twice a month.

I’m at just under 1000 feet and it rains all summer, 95 and 100% humidity. This will be my first summer with it and I’m very thankful for it.

@AppalachianBiscuits I have to rehydrate mine twice a week.

Also this interruption (slightly relevant to trying to max out the moisture in the unit while you’re on the Dry Cycle ) to the current conversation:

I’ve seen mention on the thread about rigging a bucket as a reservoir to the exhaust- and it was a first thought about modding the machine at all to begin with. We hadn’t had cause to through the first few harvests and it’s the kind of thing you put off until you have to, eh? Should have given it time to sort it out before taking off, for sure.

Anyway, we got some 3/8 ID vinyl hose and a small bucket, set it all up, hit dry, and took off for three days. Seemed like it was dripping.

It wasn’t.

We got back, and the unit hadn’t cleared to the bucket, but didn’t flood the drip tray, either. All that bud-water backed up into the bottom of the Cannatrol, under the lower fan shelf-mount part. From there, some had seeped out of the door seal and pooled on the end table under the machine (luckily missing any cords and such.) Humidity had been sitting at just upwards of 70 percent, and, while we run the stock settings still, DP was at about 55. The numbers were solid, though. Oddly, the top of the sponge was dry. Go figure.

After we wiped out the machine, we let the cycles continue. Tried a sample of this run twelve hours ago (One day of 4 day cure left) and it was right in line with what we expect.

These machines are awesome, period. Anyone who has successfully rigged a bucket to theirs got any tips, or seen it back up like that? Thanks in advance.

Stay up

You know I wonder if Davey from cannatrol would suggest anything for draining… after all he’s the 1 who made it … I bet he’d have some suggestion as to what to use

Did it ever have a problem draining with a longer humidifier drain hose? Does it need to be higher than hose to actually drain?

All I do is extend a hose that goes through the top of a counter then into a jar with an air gap so it can drip on the shelf below. This system is so sensitive you can’t have any kinks or traps at all or you will probably have issues. The best thing I did was run it somewhere I can put whatever size container I want. I’m in bed now but if you want pics I can post them tomorrow.

I have my unit in the basement where the floor has a slight slope that increases as the floor gets closer to the drain. On a level surface with a long tube it wont work.

Watch the humidity levels in the unit even using the standard drip tray issues can arise and cause humidity levels to rise. I blow the drain from the unit out with compressed air before I start a dry and after the dry and cure stages.
