Cbd for pets

Wow such an amazing response!
Thanks everyone .

I would totally make it myself but I’m not sure how I would isolate the CBD from the THC

I will keep an eye out for any pet friendly CBD Solutions. Maxine you want to see him again I can imagine the human CBD glycerol drops would work all right although that’s for my partner to decide . We definitely want to try something though. I highly doubt our vet will suggest it as they are motivated by profit.

I will check into all the suggestions above!

stay the fuck away from Rimdayl IMO…

Pfizer settles lawsuit over Rimadyl, controversial drug that killed Chris Cooper’s golden retriever

I use these - great stuff - 1 to 1.5 chews seems right for my dog’s arthritis - 2 of them makes her sleepy (70 pound dog). Trying it on my other dog for thunder-fear, doesn’t seem to work though. My dog will also consume my simple olive oil extract of weed but the THC does make her loopy so I avoid it, not wanting to drug her…

Wow, my dog has been taking these for 3 years now and it seems to make him feel better. I think I will discontinue his use of these and continue to give him thc and CBD oil which he likes.

Thanks for the heads up @Muleskinner!

NSAIDS do work and they’re safe most of the time - but there’s risk. This issue is personal for me as I nearly died at age 27 from NSAIDS in the 1990’s - took the recommended dose from my doctor (failed back surgery) and after 6 months, I collapsed and had to be rushed to the ER - they used an endoscopic laser to cauterize multiple breached arteries in my stomach. Pumped 2 huge bowls of blood out of tube through my nose, my gf fainted at the sight of it. Good thing they had a chair in the ER!

The docs said the meds (Daypro) had burned ulcers into my lower esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. I have the pictures - big nasty-looking black holes in my stomach lining. The ER doc looked me in the eye and gave a stern warning “you must never take NSAID meds again” and so I repeat the warning to others.

ElleVet is the name of the CBD oil that the vet recommended. The vet was very good and she said she did quite a lot of research before deciding on it for her cat and to recommend .

Hollyyyyyy shit…I am glad you made it out of that.

I was living on Advil 400liquid gels…taking 4-6 a day…I have been off them for over 5 weeks now.

I had a serious stomach issue/ diareah and stomach pain which led me me to stop 4 weeks and ago , the thought alone of it being an ulcer made me quit then and there.

I was taking them for knee pain, muscle pain, head aches and to the Point If i felt i hadn’t taken one all day, I would just assume I needed one.

I recently started taking tylonal though because of a back injury / pain…my doctor even told me to double my dosage of tylonal.

That will be coming to a stop, I just swallowed one before reading this. I know acetimenophin was bad for you also. I have a close friend who almost died From liver failure i think from teeth issues she was treating with tylonal,

I have to stop being reliant on these things.

Alright, thanks!
I’ll look into it tonight’ with the woman.

Poor little guy , his hind legs get shakey sometimes. He doesn’t meow or anything to indicate he’s in pain. But he is definitly less mobile and less spirited, it would be amazing to see any positives change in him!

He also hates getting any medication orally LOL we literally have to wrap him in a towel and wait for him to meow and shoot it in his mouth with a syringe . We have to crush any meds he ever got up and mix with water and shoot in his mouth to have any success.

He does drink water straight from a human cup so a couple drops in his glass would be key!

Sorry to hear about your cat! :frowning:

Max Montrose did a whole documentation of helping his dog with cbd after a bad injury. He said CBD given transdermal (through the ears) was much more effective than orally. Might be something to explore.

Fractional distillation unfortunately. We ran a rig to help pull off THC from any crude CBD extract that ran hot. Definitely not my preferred way to do things as you can lose a lot of terpenes as well as other cannabinoids if you overshoot your heads and tails.

And the smell, dear god the fumes were like concentrating the compounds that make you cough and aerosolizing them in a room. Definitely not something to do without a fume hood or a strong canister filter mask.

Yikes, yeah not something I would take on my self.

If I grew a CBD strain I might trust my self to make him a tincture .

I do have a vendor in mind with cbd dominant strain seeds.

I will have to see if there is a Canadian supply of that Ellevet available!

Wow! That is amazing !

Never heard of that (lol no pun intended)

Appreciate the information. I will check it out!

Just a heads up the water trick may not work. Our cat was finicky too and as food driven as he was a few drops in his food and he wouldn’t touch it. We would either have to feed him something he wanted and then wait for the right moment and squirt some in there, hold his mouth shut so he swallowed. That and we had some luck putting it into really small capsules and handfeeding him them with this wet treat stuff around it. Always felt bad fighting him to take it but the improvement was obvious afterward.

looks like a good company, they recommend CBD for itching also, interesting. good luck w/ your cat, if you can get something they eat it’s a huge benefit, I’ve never been able to give pills to a cat

I’ve got a big bottle of CBD tincture made w/ olive oil, didn’t think about using that, I could probably get the dogs to take it & save money on the pricey CBD edibles

OHhhhhhh the itching too!

He has a bad dry spot / lesion on hisfront arm pit also …it’s been there for over a year
The vet useless , we have tried medication and antibiotics, he cant take a steroid because of himself diabetes’s. And honestly, he has gone into remission TWICE!! And the stupid vet prescribed him a steroid for his arm rash , and it tipped him back into being diabetic .
They obviously don’t admit to it, but they should nevertheless have prescribed it in the first place. It didn’t work and just so happened a few daysllateer he was drinking. A ton of water and peeing like crazy. So we knew what was on the go…

Twice a day we give him subcutaneous insulin injections.

It’s rough, but it is what’ it is…

If we can get him some cbd to try that would be awesome.

And yea, he probably wouldn’t touch the water if we doses It LOL Wishfull thinking, also it would be difficultt to get him the proper dose.

Thank again!

No shippy shippy to Canada :canada:
Will look for a Canadian one . If not maybe a re route
Update***There’s actually a bunch of Canadian cbd distributors for pets! lol

I found one and just placed order.

What Is the full spectrum??
Quick google. I guess FS is the whole entourage effect. Terps. Thc, everything .

I went with the fortify.
Wifey won’t go with the .03% thc just yet. Don’t even think she’s on board for this’ll.
I am ordering it though, can only help.
This one apparently doesn’t have the terps they don’t like, but I assume they won’t like it’s anyway and going to take some handling to dose regardless
