Chat room (let's chat!) šŸ’¬ (Part 1)

2 days of 8 hour exams, in a fucking suit, to get membership back if I let it lapse by not paying yearly fee. I know I will probably never go active. But it would kill me to let itn apse to save $100 a year and then want/need to go active again for a job and have to study and test again decades later.

Theyve got my psychology figured out I guess. And my bank account info. FOMO of some sort and all that.

Everytime my schools send an alumni fundraising letter Im right with ya. Enough is enough.

The first one is more dangerous I think. They use the first to get at the second.

Itā€™s just like any other flu vaccinationā€¦ you gotta get that booster yearly.

I get a fancy magazine but really itā€™s just a beg-athon.

Youā€™re a PADI dive instructor too? LOL. I know SO many instructors who, poor as they are, still pay the $300 + ea year to renew and remain current, so they dont have to do the exams again. In that case, crappy system because honestly, if you havent taught in a few years, I dont want you to. ā€œBut I have a card!ā€ yeah, that you earned once, and just kept paying for while going out of practiceā€¦

My college degree? BS in Marketing, only held one job in marketing right outta college. But it tells employers I should be able to think, and that I can spend a lotta money on a paper that hangs on my wallā€¦ Since then, I have worked in a law firm, building koi ponds, as a dive instructor and shop manager. Pretty sure my degree helped in none of them. Is a degree needed today? Sure I think so, but tradesman do very well without em. Depends on what floats your boatā€¦

Do law firms install lots of koi ponds?

Itā€™s true itā€™s just a piece of paper and there are jobs/trades where it doesnā€™t matter but even the shittiest white collar entry level jobs require a degree or they wonā€™t even consider you.

damn it wonā€™t let me edit my old post so have to say in a new one
Iā€™m what they call ā€˜compromised systemā€™ ā€¦ lotta other ailments. So I consider this just another yearly vaccination to get. ugh.
2 Moderna, not too bad afterwards, just a day of feeling like shit.

Yeah, if I went active there would be a lot of Continuing Education credits and brushing up I would need to do to ethically do the job. Or if I didnt I would violate ethics and be suspended anyway. Yet knowing this, and that I dont want to spend the time brushing up and relearning, I still pay.

Only when we needed to make people disappear. Under the waterfall mound works nicelyā€¦ LOL. the power of punctuation!

I hated being contained to 4 walls, thats why I got out. Covid put a monkey wrench in the plans, so I may have to suck it up and go back inside for a little while.

And seriously, I know electricians and plumbers who started learning at the same time their peers went to college. 4 Years later, they are making 6 figures with no college debt, the college guys have debt, and cant find jobs making half thatā€¦ I laugh at anyone who shuns a blue collar workerā€¦

(I deliberately deleted your comma for the sake of the joke :joy:)

Itā€™s true. Iā€™m not really suited for either environment to be honest.

I built a 1000 sq ft basement apartment by myself and while I found it rewarding I sure as hell wouldnā€™t want to do it forever.

Yeah. No yard to grow plants outdoors in a basement apart.

No one said it has to be your yard . . . but dont know if my anxiety could take a remote guerrilla grow though, but some enjoy it.

Not these days, not worth it for personal. Back in college, when I had no option, it was the only option. Iā€™m sure I was in much better shape then to be lugging water to the ladies. Plus doing that shit at night, minimal flashlights, paranoid that the narco-cops would jump outta the darkness to catch you in the act, even worried about game cams being placed to catch youā€¦ And I only ever grew for personal, so it wasnā€™t like giant plots, only a few plantsā€¦ No, do not need to add to the current anxiety levelā€¦

You can put a shout out in the trade thread if ya havnt yet. Prolly get more eyes on it there from interested parties. Im not familiar with those so cannot help personally.

God damn I really hate waking up with high sugar then overcompensating my insulin dose. 400 to 40 is not a fun drop.:expressionless:

I know a guy who does Treetop guerrilla grows. That seems like so much fucking work. Between pullies, camo, and watering thatā€™s just to much.

Not to mention the pest problems and birds, and squirrels etc.

Doing out of a necessity would suck for me personally. But if youre the kind of person who likes the challenge or ingenuity of it, all the power and respect to your friend.

Tell him to start a grow log here on it. I wanna see!
