Running out of height- elected to buy a net rather than build so it’ll be here Wednesday. Do I push her down or cut her back? I really, really wish I could finish this bed outside of this tent. Damn near ready to cut the tent up but it’s brand new. Hindsight is 20/20.
Do some low stress training on her.
Chain them down bend twist worst case scissors.
She is the perfect cultivar to scrog. She will bend for you all the way to the end. Obviously use care but she isn’t stubborn in that department. No need to over think it.
Get her tops through the net, let her fill it out, then at day 21-28 F you should be able to see what lower branches need to be pruned.
Ok, that bought me some space. My half clones in the coco went in the trash, I ended up over watering them. I think the take away was to saturate more to begin with, I mistook that for them drying. Have some rooting in the aero cloner, waiting on them to root in some media before I flip.
Well. All the clones didn’t make it. I’m not sure why. I’ll pick up some supplies this weekend. What should I do different? Maybe I’m not cleaning well enough. Aero cloner could use a H2O2 wash, maybe some rooting hormone this time.
Net is filling in for sure. Irritated I can’t get clones rooted.
Just curious what nutrients are you running in the cloner ? I’ve had good success running around 500 ppm with 6.3 ph veg nutrients with a bit of micro added . What do your clones seem to do droop and die possible there too cold and too low of humidity . I’m in a small 2 ft tent with it zippered shut running a small t 5 light temp and humidity are high and they seem to thrive nicely in those conditions.
The clones get just straight RO water, they’ll be happy as can be for a few days then they get soft and droop. Then rot. Previously they would root within 4/5 days. Temps are a bit cool, and a good bit dry.
My plan is to try some with root riot plugs in a prop flat with a dome as well this weekend and see. I think it’s the cold, dry air of the winter that’s fucking with my success rates.
Your cloner has a water pump and manifold plus a air stone and air pump?
Try ph 6.2 not RO add some veg and micro nutrients if you’ve got some humic acid throw a shot of that in the cloner .
To be honest a bubble cloner has improved my cloning skills like 80% better that all other methods I’ve struggled with.
Ambient temp and humidity are key to a good success.
If you can get your hands on this brand they come pre soaked and really work well also .
Just the water pump and manifold, I’m not sure it needs the air stone since I change the water every so often, but wouldn’t be a bad idea. Just getting back to cloning.
I’ve heard mixed things on this… do aero cloners need domes? Some say they like high humidity like other clones others say they don’t require.
I’ve had success with cool temps but it just takes longer. Not sure on the rot but I’d guess too wet. I use a bubble cloner with netpots and hydroton and I find that keeps them moist without being wet.
No dome on mine the air stone added ensures the water doesn’t get slimy. I don’t change water from the first fill I end up adding to it but never change it out.
My last batch of clones took 18 days .
Make sure your manifold is spraying all the sites if I let the water get low or place it off centre not all the cloner is being misted evenly .
I have done this too
This is what worked best in my aero cloner. Though now I just use plugs and a dome. Slower, but much less maintenance.
10% bleach, run 20 minutes. Clean water, run another 20 minutes. Make sure to soak the collars or get new ones too.
Good advise from ReikoX I’ll soak the collars over night in mr clean also wash everything with it then rinse with clean water.
Something is off. I get almost 100% success in the cloner with tap water and a rooting hormone. That’s it that’s all. 14 days I’m putting healthy rooted cuts in cups of soil.
You’re definitely a thinker @ChemicalDependant but sometimes it’s easy to overthink simple stuff.
Clean razor blade. Cut at a 45 degree angle. Place cuts into a cup of water while you finish taking cuts. Once all cuts have been made and cloner prepped, dip each cutting into your preferred hormone and put it into a collar. Pump should be on 24/7 and colder temps will delay your process but they shouldn’t die.
Use sterile razors and new water cups for each different cultivar.
People underestimate cleanliness while cloning. Mold will kill your cuts faster than cold.
You got this
That’s what I’m thinking it is. I also wanted to try the plugs for seeds, so it’s more of a back up. I know I could’ve cleaned the cloner better so I’m going to give that a go. Cleaning what I can not see is hard, just have to set up a regime.
Anyone recognize these burns? They don’t look like the burns from creeping into the light and they weren’t that close.
I got the cloner cleaned out with bleach, here’s hoping that was the same issue. Wouldn’t it suck if I couldn’t take a clone and killed the mother? Just my luck, lol.
Heat or possibly a ph issue ?
I’m thinking wind damage. Is there a fan blowing directly at that side of the plant?
