CMH + Strips Coco Cavern

Also, the 1 1/2" thick foam is not light proof. So no matter what, I had to cover one side with something to block light.

I only wish I could grow a beard like this guy. lol

I flushed once a week roughly in bloom with RE-CHARGE no PH just RO and the amount of recharge recommended.

Noticed it helped with salt build up.
Also I used this recipe starting week 5 till flush.

1-1-2 bloom boost formula.

Jacks 5-12-26. 2 g

Cal nitrate. 15-0-0. 2.7 g

Epsom 2 g

Haifa MPK 1.2 g

Per 1 gal R/O water.

Note: I dialed it down to 90% strength to lighten up on the nitrogen as I saw my leaves were getting greener than I wanted by week 7 of bloom.
Hope this helps @GramTorino
Good luck :four_leaf_clover::+1:t2:

@GramTorino do you mind if I ask a couple of things in here? Coco is new to me and although I read a lot, including your whole thread, when it comes time to put things in practice, I still have doubts. Also, there are a lot of differing and often straight contradictory opinions out there… I am impressed with your results and value your insight.

Ok, I’ll shoot a few:

  • Have you ever tried using coco that you haven’t manually prepared/buffered? I’m talking about premium coco products like Canna/Plagron. Plagron has beneficial microbes for instance, I’d hate to flush them out while buffering.
  • Any problems using your 200ppm (400 uS/cm at 0.5 scale) water? Mine is exactly the same, Coco for cannabis advises 300 EC max. I figure if I take my starting water TDS in calculation it should be ok, most of it is Ca/Mg anyway?
  • Do you water your seedlings every day or do you let them dry out?

Much thanks man!

I have the same questions as @Orloff plus, is it possible to overfeed with cal/mag using it as directed during flower? I have 4 strains flowering and 1 looks like it’s burned either by light or something out of balance?

So far I’ve used several types of bagged coco. All high quality. No experience with bricks.
I know some coco has a few starter additives, like mycos, etc. I just feed microbes regularly to keep them thriving…I assume they are thriving. Faith. Lol

I prefer to rinse the fine crap out if the coco no matter what.
But this run, I dumped coco/perlite right from the bag and got busy growing.

Feeding properly with heavier cal and mag seems to help me prevent defs come flower.

Water. I’ve become an RO snob. My tap fluctuates and I prefer the consistency with RO.
And. My ph is more stable.

With seedlings, I do like to put them thru wet/dry cycles. Cups or small pots. Not dry to the point of going limp. But almost.

Thanks again! I’m disappointed by your RO snobiness, I was hoping you’d say that tap works just fine and I wouldn’t have to figure a solution to that problem .

Too much calmag can lock out other chit. I’ve done it overracting to calmag def.

For me, in late flower I have had more trouble with excess K due to my nutes and or buildup/lockout.

Oh. And sometimes I funk up!! Sometimes I catch myself, other times I’m sure I don’t. Mistakes with feed ec and or ph much less forgiving with croco.
All it takes is 1 or 2 funked up feedings and…uh oh.

I hear ya. Size matters. If I had a big grow, I would want to use tap.
But my hobby grow RO is easy enuff.
