Co-op Strain Donations and Breeder Match Ups

I donated a strain and the preservation breeding went well but he seeds were lost when motr went missing. I think it was the first and only sighn up here. After that this lost momentum and the individual projects have spread out across the site. Alot of beans some rather rare were lost and alot of people were probably rather discouraged.

Think Iā€™ll be doing a signup for Purple NL2 F2ā€™s here in a month or so. Just waiting on the clones to grow out a bit first while I wait and see what the girls look like.

God bless you. :grinning: I saw the drop email for those about an hour after it hit, and I knew they were gone. Thanks for sharing them with everyone.

co-op strain eligibility rules-

for completed projects, you can get in touch with the co-op in PM or in the strain donation thread. Sebring is in charge of US distribution and shipping to international distributors, so you can contact him directly.

I am always available as a co-op volunteer to answer questions, help with logistics, and to help members get in touch with the right co-op volunteers.

There are more specific requirements for a seed pack donation being grown by a volunteer, that requires a grow journal with documentation from day one until distribution.

With a completed project we donā€™t need to worry about a volunteer running off with a donated seed pack, so there is more flexibility.

The standard rule is that a completed project just needs some photos taken during the grow, and/or photos of the seed pack that was used to verify authenticity.

These are the types of lines that qualify for co-op distribution:

Discontinued breeders packs
breeders packs that are currently available for sale can only be used with approval from the breeder
heirlooms with no claim of authorship
local black market lines
landraces

hybrids made by members do not qualify. the only exception is sexually stable lines that have been shared and documented extensively by many growers on the site. like 50stateā€™s Orange Goji for example, as well as the old OGerā€™s strain.

Strains like these become kind of like overgrow signature lines, and if they are grown widely, well documented, and well loved by many members of the site, we want to preserve them and share them more widely.

Ok. Here is my dilemma. After this grow is done. I am taking the wife on an extended vacation through early summer. Because I just retired from my work. Then in the late part of summer I will pop beans for my fall run. Already have some of it lined out. Only allowed 6 veg and 6 in flower. So by the time I have 6 thru veg and placed in flower, only then can I start new plants in veg. That would be mid winter at the earliest.
Surprised no one has stepped up yet. Im sure they will tho. Good luck. I will be watching.

Very sorry to hear that. It has been very difficult finding volunteers, and it seems like when we do, we are often disappointed.

OG is kind of a paradox, it has the friendliest and most cultivation focused community of any of the online cannabis forumsā€¦ but it also has a higher rate of member turnover than any of the others.

I havenā€™t been on here that long, (since 2018) but I can count on my fingers the number of users who have stayed active consistently since I started posting here.

Well thatā€™s life @zephyr  but thatā€™s also why Iā€™m a bit more careful with who I send what to nowadays :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

And is just like you said, one of the best community Iā€™ve ever seen, but also a lot of good people disappearing over time :frowning:

But Iā€™m sure thereā€™s a someone special out there that will do these beans justice :pray:

we have also been disappointed by people who volunteer and accepted seeds, but did not follow the rules of the co-op when it came to distribution. Specifically, giving the seeds away freely to all who signed up, regardless of the preferences and personal feelings of the breeder.

It has also been sad to see projects fail because they did not follow the rules for the co-op breeding process of breeding with the original plants grown from seed, open pollination with all males, and no selection except to remove herms.

Honestly I donā€™t think anyone needs to worry about me leaving with the goods. And I would be glad to follow the rules for the entire run. Thatā€™s why I was explaining to @Swe-can about not being able to right away. I need to schedule some time to do a proper preservation run Guess I could have went for the seeds and once I had them I coulda said ADIOS!!!
I realize you guys donā€™t know me and want to be safe. But reallyā€¦I ainā€™t built like that! You will see!

I wasnā€™t referring to you or anything mike, just reflecting on the ups and downs of the co-op since the community started it about 3 years ago.

I kinda figured that! Iā€™m sure itā€™s frustrating as hell. Just since I have been here, I have seen folks beg for seeds and when they are good to hang around for awhile, get to know some of the fine people here, you never see their name pop up again.

If you donā€™t find anyone by the fall, I would do the run for you, in my sexing tent.
Would love to help contribute back to the community, but no worries if you find someone to do them sooner.
