Would not be surprised if there was some resistance to HLVD in certain landrace/heirloom/feral genetics, consistent with the pattern with other plant viruses/pathogens in monocultures of highly hybridized plants (coffee, tobacco, etc) where spread happens quickly and resistance often comes from hybridization with indigenous or heirloom or wild varieties. Not exactly the same gene pool but the MZPV line (SOA Mozambica, RSC Parvati, Cherry Wine CBD) I’ve been selecting from attracts aphids due to its honey tropical fruit aroma and lack of sulfur containing aromatic compounds but has never shown any loss of yield or vigor or biomass or rootmass indicating viral infection. All the more reason to preserve these landrace and heirloom genetics.
I saw some of what happened upthread and I hope Upstate returns here, I’ve already learned so much from reading his threads and comments.

Just posted an article about some weed that has resistance in CA. All I could think of while reading it is, they just want to control the market, but who knows.

I definitely could see some less ethical larger companies trying to capitalize on this by offering triploid autoflowering HLVD virus resistant varieties of popular strains and then pushing mass adoption using cannabis publications and other channels but I will leave it at that to avoid going too off topic

First one is a nice anecdotal story I suppose, but not directly relevant to what was being talked about.
The next 4 links don’t work, and the last one is NYT, and I’m not paying to read the article lol.
I think the idea of trying to block out the sun to battle climate crisis is hilariously ridiculous to be honest, when the actual easier fix is to cease using fossil fuels. For environmental and economical reasons it’s the better path to take.

Off topic I know but, we can all stop using fossil fuels and it won’t make a difference because China are pumping out masses not a care in the world. And the EV boom is even worse, mining minerals on one side of the world, just to ship them to the other side, then ship them back again, then be obsolete after 5 years and sent to landfill, crazy. Literally every country could produce 0% emissions but until we sort out China it’s not going to change anything

And this is the thought process that I hope takes ahold here because this is what I feel we can all come together and get behind thank you @Greenfingers for keeping it all in prospective but will it stop “the man” from doing what they are going to do? Hell no it won’t! But it should help keep us together because individually we can be devoured but together we are a unstoppable mighty force! So to my OG Fam don’t let this devide us! Let it bring us together and make or bond stronger and just know that some of us are just more passionate about somethings and that’s what makes some of use unique and special:) just like some of these plants we seek out to the 4 corners of the earth, we would not leave a plant behind, so why would we leave some of our family?
