Apollo11 x f13xApollo11 Seedrun

hello all,
I figured it was time I started a journal to get to know everyone.
first, let me introduce the genetics. i purchased three packs five years ago from icmags server fund and made by a member, Highlighter. I ran one pack in Dec '18 and got 6 males and 1 female. I open pollinated and collected pollen and put seeds in the fridge and pollen in the freezer.
I got around to running the next two packs (30 seeds) last year but had an awful time with cobweb mold and only one survived. I felt gutted and damn near cried more than once when it was still fresh. but that one was flexing her f13 genes. she self topped and was growing two main stalks - one normal and one with extra Blueberry krinkle leaves. I was 100 percent sure something odd would happen like one branch would be male and one female but that wasn’t the case. I took clones from both sides to see if they would stay as they were, but the krinkle leaf side eventually grew out of it and it became impossible to tell them apart aside from the labels.

with only one plant making it and having saved pollen in the fridge I was just happy to get a female. she has all that I think you could want from this cross. she has a fermented pineapple, mango, and papaya smell that comes on early in flower then gives way to a sharp berry smell. she’s covered in frost and looks done at 8 weeks (haven’t had sinse yet so idk her harvy window yet). the only downside is the calyx:leaf ratio blows and requires a lot of trimming. if you are into that kinda thing - I’m not and she’s so frosty I just grind the leaves up with the bud bc it doesn’t matter.
I did find out she roots pretty good. I cut her down to about 1/3 her size and stuck a few branches in a 5 gallon bucket with about an inch of water in the bottom. 10 days later 7 of them have roots.

I dusted her and harvested seeds this spring but didn’t get nearly enough to share, so I’m doing it again. with the pollen I have being over two years old I was lucky to even get seeds the first time. I dont think I’ll get another shot at making f2s of this cross. gonna scrog her up and dump the rest of the pollen I have which is probably 4 or five grams.

so buckle up, hang on, and enjoy the ride with me to the moon.

alright i got her trimmed up and put the scrog in and flipped her to 12/12.
depending on how fast she transitions to flower I should be tossin pollen in 4 weeks.

What a story! You’re doing incredible work keeping this alive and increasing the population. Good luck, I hope the pollen takes well, and they breed like rats.

ok so i put my timer to ‘on’ instead of ‘timer’ so they’ve been in 24hr light for the past 3 days.
she looked stressed as hell and i couldn’t figure it out until i visited during lights out to find the lights on.
so today is the first official day of flower.

Never trim and swap lighting schedule. Good way to stress the shit out of plants.always water and let relax for a few days.

here she is one week into flower. I’ve been watering in some KNF water soluble calcium and comfrey fpj to help with transition.
I’ve got her to cover most of the screen which is pretty good considering where she is in the bed

and a shot under the screen. I was going to strip off all the sucker branches, but they can make a seed just as good. it will also show me of she throws nanners down low.

overall she looks good.
all 7 giant cuts I took rooted. 4 wilted over like they were dead the day after transplant but all of them came back to life. they all consumed a couple fan leaves and then righted themselves and are all growing well now.

Looking good! I’m gonna park it on the beanbag for this one!

well those giant clones we just too big and got pruned pretty hard. I’m interested in how she will react. after I pruned them I let them sit out of direct light for half a day to recover.

i cut at least 50% off all of them

some more than others

This should show how well she handles stress.
I will use most of these cuts to finally run sinsemilla hopefully in a new flower room.

Taking a spot on the grass to watch the show. Best of luck :v:

time for our weekly update.
flower set is going well and soon I believe she will start making towers. the fan leaves are ‘clawing’ but I’m not sure if it’s from too much N or humidity.

The underside is already giving up so it might get trimmed up a bit before dusting

all the cuts started telling me they were unhappy a couple days ago and I thought they just needed water since the cups were light. however when water didn’t help I figured it must be a crowded rootzone. when I up potted them all of them had roots growing up and were about 1cm from the soil surface.
I didn’t take any root porn shots because i usually dont like to stop in the middle of working to take pics, but here they are after.

and the happy one

anyway, we’re chugging along and just two more weeks until the pollenacalypse when fire and pollen ( mostly Pollen) fill the air and make it impossible to breath ( if you don’t wear a mask).

time for our weekly update.
she’s been chugging along and it looks like stretch is over and she’s starting to stack and fill out the buds.

she’s starting to smell very sweet and sour like fruit punch with too much toilet bowl hooch in it.
I was going to wait another week to pollinate, but I couldn’t help myself. I have more pollen but I think 11 envelopes were enough since a few of them had more than a gram of pollen in it.

I took a video of the pollination but can’t upload it. i held the opened the packs up to my chin and blew. real high tech stuff.
I kept back a few incase this pollination fails.

looks like the pollen is still viable after almost 3 years.

since it seems I stored that pollen correctly I’ll share what I did. luckily I wrote it down.
I collected pollen on parchment paper and then covered it with more parchment paper to keep contams out. I let it sit at room temp for about 2 weeks then I packed it up in envelopes I made out tyvek that I got from the post office.
I put those envelopes in one of those 1oz cups most restaurants use for ketchup ( I got mine from Chipotle) with some rice. I then put the cups in the coldest part of my fridge for more than a month to dry it out even more. then the cups went into the freezer.

oh yes. just about every pistil is brown and dying. i’m cautiously optimistic about the seeds. i’m going to start my six week timer tomorrow.
due date is 05 nov 2021.
