Howdy @JonPott your style and space is impressively clean. The plants look robust and happy. This is all so nice to see. The tall stretchy male is quite handsome. Over time in these lines it seems most went towards the shorter quicker types, so to think you’ve got some of the old school taller stretchier wilder types in the genetics for the F3 generation is encouraging. These are some cool observable traits coming through in terms of nuanced structural differences, leaf morphology and so on. Great stuff! Many blessings and much love
i have a few packs of these so i can’t wait to see what happens
These have been flowrring for about 2.5 weeks. In my experience, they take their time showing sexes and the flowers take some time to start producing their stigmas compared to other cultivars I have grown so far.
Over all happy and robust plants for sure. These have not been topped or trained in any way since I am going to pollinate them.
Tagging along on this 1
Not a huge update but I seperated the girls for a few days so I could pollinate and stick them back together this evening. Hopefully, the pollen is used up and wont spread around much My tall HL was dusted with the males pollen and should have some nice F3s.
The middle sized one I dusted with Triple Sunshine F2 pollen I got from @Klyphman. Thinking of calling the cross Triple Rainbow… Still not sure yet.
The shorter one I dusted with the BOG LSD pollen I got from @DougDawson and plan on calling this cross Pahoa Bicycle Ride, courtesy on the name from @Sodapop .
All are back in their home! Hopefully my taller HL in back doesnt keep stretching as I am maxed out on how high I can bring the lights in my 5x5 tent. May need to switch the exhaust around for my future grows?
If any of you have some ideas for names on the two crosses feel free to drop those below!
Thanks for stopping by
Beautiful plants my man! I hope the name sticks
Love the look of these plants, have a stout almost afghan look to them. Very nice ive never heard of hawaliianlights. Looks like my kind of strain good job. How about “hawaiian life” for the name? Too obvious
I’ll throw my hat back in the ring and I’d like to suggest the Triple Sunshine cross should be called Solar Halo
I just looked up the meaning of “halo” in Hawaiian and Solar Halo is the name for the medium sized plant. @Sodapop , thank you again for your ideas and help on this!!!
The Hawaiian Lights is is believed “that it comes directly from the Northern Lites/Lights Crew via Seattle Greg, the same gentleman who supplied Neville with his Northern Lights stock. We were told that it is NL #5/White Widow/Hawaiian Pineapple hybrid.”
(Quoted from the breeders sight)
Where they came from or what they were crossed from I do enjoy how tall they got. This is the second largest plant that I have grown. I appreciate your comment
Thats why it looks like an afghan, thanks for the information. Sounds like a great find my friend, and old school. I love widow and nl personally! Please keep us updated
The girls are still doing great! The tallest is having great trichome production and consistent all around. Seeds are producing well also.
The medium plant is is ready focusing on seed production as most of the side colas pollinated have seeds bursting out.
The short one is just doings it thing and looking happy. Trichomes seem to have a steady growth but no clear indicators of seeds at the moment
They look awesome, what’s the finish time on these ones?
We are wrapping up week 5 now. 2 weeks out from pollination. So I would expect maybe 4-6weeks would be my ideal time frame.
Another week down!
I am slightly worried that the BOG LSD pollen did not take on the shorter plant. I do see some reas where the calyxs seem swollen but not compared to the other two plants that have visible seeds bursting through. Keeping my thoughts positive though.
I was watering the girls tonight and had a seed from my short plant right in my face. Glad to see Pahoa Bicycle Ride seeds are in there somewhere
Well I wish I took more pics in almost the last 12 days but these girls were ready for chopping!
Branches were falling over, visible seeds bursting out, the stigmas color has changed to a burnt orange color, and trichomes were at the milky color I prefer
The larger plants I felt best to cut up and dry in pieces which I have never done. The smallest seemed sturdy enough to hung upside down as whole since its branches held up better than the other two.
Seed shucking these three will be… fun
I found a few pictures I took on the 26th of October. Little over a week ago before chopping.
At this point, Phase one of this project is complete. I grew the necessary amount of seeds out that I wanted to obtain a male plant to collect the necessary pollen needed to complete phase two which will be stated in a separate thread.
Once the three plants are dried and seeds have been thoroughly and carefully sorted out that will be the end of any updates unless further discussions are shared.
Cool project broda! What are the smells on these like?
Range from sweet lemon/lime, sometimes a pinesol scent, and an occasional barnyard smell on certain stem rubs. The male used had a very constant sweet critus smells of lemon/lime. My nose thought it to be a grapefruit but people I know with better noses stated its more lemon/lime.
The flowers themselves before chopping was very floral that I could not pinpoint exactly. I used to smoke cigarettes and it tarnished my sensory specific smells.
