Yes, definitely, shrooms are not for everyone, I don’t ingest them often, back in the day sure but these days, I just like taking my time and waiting for things to line up when its in the cards. A little steering on my part just helps to stay on the path. Time always tells the tale. If the Gods will it!
And Thank You Brother. Im really surprised they all came out as good as they did, all things considered. I cant believe outdoor is almost over and the fact that I didnt even think they’d make it to the finish line at the time of the pm, yall know I was just about ready to cut it all down at one point and give up but Im so glad I didnt, thanks to you and others help and encouragement there is still over a pound out there I need to get and Im already totally set with enough meds to make it till next indoor harvest, maybe even next outdoor if I keep alot of this material in the fridge or feezer! What a year for us both, very happy to have shared this season together, I learned alot from you especially.
Some specific ramblings on washing flower that I wanted to jot down for anyone dabbling with the idea since this has been my ‘jam’, thats what Ive been callin it btw, ‘jam making’ lol, I needed a way to move past the loss of outdoor fun and this does it well …So the Jam is already up to 15g or so in two separate washes(using a standard 8 bag, five gallon set) and that was just the pre trimmed material, maybe three ounces of mixed materials, a bunch of Snowfire lowers, alot of the Don’s clippings but not much used really, Im kind of blown away by the yeild. Looking forward to doing it again but with some of the nice big Snowfire nugs which will first be fully dried for four or five days then frozen for at least 4hrs and finally gently broken up, I repeat this freezing and breaking up a few times as well before being mixed with about 50/50 ice and water, I use three separate buckets in the unused bathtub at the back of the house. A good clean quiet space is a must! I always clean it real well before I begin and get some good tunes going. Careful with your back and make sure all kids, pets, or needy significant others are fully taken care of before the process even begins.
I like to just line up the bags as usual, one on top of the other, larger micron inside of the finer, so finest micron bag is on the outside. Lay a folded towel on the counter with your catch mat(a 25micron strip) on top. Have at least two clean sharp knives at the ready. Once the material, not too much if quality is the goal, so about three or four ounces max in a five gallon kit mixed well with a wooden or rubber kitchen utensil for about 3-5min each round, then quickly pull out all your bags at once, move them over to the next empty bucket, then simply pour the cold water of the last bucket into the holding bag to further push broken trichs through the bags. You can do this multiple times, and its alot easier than pulling apart your bags and harvesting multiple times because you never get all the gold in the first wash, it almost never stops but there is a point where its obvious that youve done your work. Be careful not to use too much agitation as to not break down the actual plant material and release undesired chemicals such as chlorophyll, you will know if you did use too much as alot of your product will have a greenish tint but make sure to use enough agitation to fully brake the trichs and get the oil, the colder the water the better and Ive found I like a 50/50 mix of ice and water but you can use more or less ice, just add more ice if it melts quickly, I know when I do it right when I end up with as little of the rough kief-like stuff in the first two bags that come after the holding bag, then the next 3 or 4 bags should have the good tan stuff that actually bubbles if done right and the last two is usually like a wierd grey or dark color with a clay like texture. I keep them all separated, because there really is a difference, I mix the first two and the last two altogether for edibles or for throwing in joints, but this time, will give pressing the mixed as well as the finer bubble a shot. I known this sounds silly but its important to mention to always let your bounty completely dry out before sealing, anywhere from one to five days or more depending on the grade and quantity, if stored improperly, it can go bad much faster than wet sealed flower. I believe oxidation causes the hash to darken over time and Im currently experimenting with cold curing to try and speed up the drying process as to preserve the terps and the color. I have a nice handmade glass bubbler honey straw that should work nicely with some actual pressed oil, but hey, hash in any form is really as good as people talk about, believe the hype! And IMO, hashish is definitely worth the effort to work with. I plan on reading around here for some more ways to up my game and play with my toys, Ive already seen alot of great information and shared experience. For now, thats about what I got for yall. Every other method of extraction tried has been inferior, IMHO.
Oh and Field, on the growing, I totally feel you on being happy where your at, happy for things to settle down, you had a HELL of a sweet season overall, a lot of variety and enough material to play with however your heart desires, we also have alot of room to play with new ideas or just chill and enjoy the stash, its all good! Time to enjoy our hard work either way. Cant say it enough, I really enjoyed our correspondence throughout the season and never felt alone on this grow. Thanks man.
Dude, we used to own those hills! Big ass teenagers gettin nuts with jumps, broken bones, near sonny bono wipe outs but those were the days, I too am gonna have to go take my boy out this winter, just for the excuse to relieve the old days.
