Thanks brother Webeblzr, good to see you stick your head out, can’t wait to hear whats been going on with you and yours, your writing is so beautifuland calmingbto read…same old, same old over here, as you can see, @FieldEffect and I are successfully fighting off the alien invasion of Squash Bugs, I resorted to inorganic methods as well on my Squash and Melons. Very careful not to get any around the cannabis. But unfortunately, this garden is no longer organic , very minimally spot used “seven”, on the same exact day as FieldEffect which is wierd but I am also bug free as of this morning, going to spray the plants down real well with plain water after it gets alittle dark tonight to wash off any left over residue, got to be so careful with any poison. There is a time you must wait till harvest after applying. Very sad to use this crap :disappointed:…going to keep it real around here though, no parlor tricks…it was funny because I had walked out the door with the bottle, then said naw, Ill try and figure something out and then read Fields post and that did it for me, not playing this game this year…will be backnwith an update later guys. Hope everyone is chilling this lovely day :v:

Happy Friday OGs…Some photos of the day…got rained out, great reason to just chill and smoke for a bit…I keep wanting to take this whole girl down so I can start a new one but she just keeps getting fatter…a few chunky buds will have to do for now, I know when I first started growing I wouldn’t touch my plants till the very end because I’d hear people saying how much it slows them down, yet Ive often found the opposite to be true, I always grow in a way to take multiple harvests now, first I take the lowers around 8 weeks, once recovered and chugging along a week or two later Ill take any bigger buds that are too close to one another, and the rest will wait till they are baked up real nice and amber…

…Storms coming in…
Everything is growing faster than I can keep up with. Trying to focus my energy and time where I need it. Tired as can be, but this is such a critical time period when bud sites are just forming, so hard to pick and choose, to do what must be done. Did my final, final de fan and any spots that were missed over the last couple of days, every branch worth its weight is tied up or supported somehow, finally time to sit back and wait for a new emergency and let these ladies fill out…

Hope everyone is having a nice safe weekend

Ya last year I used an old wood dinner table chair, stuffed it in the greenhouse all winter. Covered in black mold this spring. So I grabbed an old shower bench “weatherized” broke the back off so now its a shower stool. lol   I can seat it in the center of my platform and hand feed all six pots with my 2-gallon feeder jug. The 18" aqua joe wand allows me to do the same with watering. One seat feeds all   You can usually find an old shower bench at most Goodwill’s and St Vincent de paul type stores in most areas.

That sure is some pretty weed!

I’ve never heard that approach to harvest. I assume I’m going to have staggered harvesting too, but not bottom-up. Your thesis is that the larger buds get thicker as you do this? My first harvest (last year’s outdoor) ripened in the opposite order. The larger top buds got amber before the lowers, which I assume was because they got less light and therefore grew slower. I’ll have to pay more attention this season. I definately think staggered harvest is a good idea, I’ll just go by tric colors though. I’ve never seen a fruiting plant with all the fruits perfectly ripe at the same time, don’t think cannabis is any different. But people are die-hard whole-plant harvesters. I’m really curious if the whole “hanging the plant upside down” makes any difference at all other than extend drying time - I have a different solution to that… Dry/Cure Cabinet - DIY Open-Source Precision Dry Chamber

Wild that we were both dealing with the same problem, same solution, same time. Squash bugs. I’m leaving it on the leaves for a while because I fear I didn’t get them all with my spraying. I had the exact same internal argument about using a real-deal insecticide. Earlier in the week one of the neighbors had come over and I was ranting about the things and how they continue to explode in numbers and kill everything, he told me the only way was that Sevin stuff. Some internet research and university IPM articles later, I came to the same conclusion. Seeing the pumpkin totally dead and that they had already moved to the watermelon was the last straw.

Hey Dendro, I’m tending a dog this week. The wee dude, is teaching me a lot!
He beat me down for 2 solid days, as every trick I’ve ever used to get one over being anxious, fearful, trembling in a corner, not smelling, his brain is just shut down.
He has never been socialized. They do not walk him, they joke and say we go for pulls. I personally do not find the humor in it.
He wants to bite, he lashes out, he’s shut down.
First dog, I…(without him) had to go for a walk, as I was getting teary eyed for him, and that just makes getting to him all the harder to do, sorrow energy, hurts/stops the efforts to get him back to Dog.
It took me, 3-4 hours to get him back inside, the first night. About 2:00 am, he surrendered, let me put a lead on him, walk him around the back yard, then to indoors.
Next morning, ground hog day!! Barking at me, as I walk in the room. The sound, was more nervous energy. No treat could get his nose. No food, worked. He cornered himself, and just shook and trembled.
I sat down, and put my back to him, by the patio door. Maybe 2 hours later, I eased my lead over his head, and we just sat. I never spoke to him, or looked at him in the eyes. Slide the door open and we walked, proper like…and he LOVED it!!
Now he is a little dog, running like a wee prancing pony, plays ball like a demon, and has brought us so much joy as a dog. He’s smart, loves to cuddle, and is very respectful.
I’ve been blessed by being his care giver for a week! I’ll so miss him after Sunday.

Whats up fellas, just wanted to jump back in here and address a few of the fine points…concerning harvest, I have tried many different methods but over time I just have learned to do what works for me at any given time, a small fast auto might get the whole chop, but its still easier to brake them down, if you have the time and aren’t dealing with 50 plants that is, then I guess ‘weed’ have another situation. But Ive always been a couple of plants kind of guy so I usually start from the bottom by just waiting for a few of the little stragglers to get ripe enough for a good taste, then when the plant is left alone, I do think it helps focus more energy to the ends, even in late flower, I do try to time when I take something with a predetermined trim or prune, about three of these heavy trim/harvests and I also like to this to leave the lowers for a bit so that the tops actually dont get too thick as to keep them as PM free as possible, then towards the end, if their looking good, Ill keep slowly trimming and feeding to help fatten them up, But this is all hobbyist verse breadmaking in the end. And I think most pros would do it like this too if most of their smoke was being consumed by themselves or fam. Some nice ripe lowers are great if you got pounds of em though. But for little ol’ humble home farmer dendro, Ive grown to enjoy getting those tops nice and ripe, yet be able to get my smoke on in the meantime, ya feel me? Its all up to each caretaker in the end, we decide when to harvest, the plant just wants to make seed/reproduce. We can only guide them to success or failure. Ive let plants go for weeks and weeks longer than most people ever go. Not to brag, just to say that I am a believer that harvest myths are rampant indeed. Now that seed making has become a new addiction, I will be paying more attention to this area of horticulture as well. I wont pretend or try and act like I have any degree in anything, because I dont, I have never been able to concentrate enough to memorize anything that Im not personally invested in,… wait, isn’t that called…selfishness? Naw, just ADD AF! Damn, just doing alittle psych 101 while I attempt to outline my harvest methods…nevermind my rambles…so again, and sorry to just keep going on here, I hope this is helpful, I know how most guys(not OGs of course) will just say shit like, “if you would look it up”, well, because thats not why people are asking your opinion silly?! To be honest, I think thats why I got online, I can lurk all I want, but if I dont stick my head out and say what does or does not work for me, then we’re just contributing to the wierd online nonsense because obviously there is no way to be on the internet and not be full of shit…lol…Not that I know anything! We just go by whatever is clever atm, in the winter, my dry game is different than summer because of the crazy humidity swings, sometimes Im running plants up and down, in and out just to keep em from drying too fast or too slow, I dont keep a hydrometer or anything too crazy, just touch, smell,…smoke? When its good its good, have most certainly learned the hard way on all this. Never jar early, if the stem still bends, let it dry, even if flower feels dry as a bone, its still very moist inside that stem, a moldy jar will make a grown man fall to his knees and weep like a baby boy who has broken his favorite toy…not that either of those incidents are part of my of my recent past…and I will say this, I like to trim wet, I cant think of a real reason to let it sit, it just gets harder to do, you lose/smoosh alot of trichs, and saving all the trimming helps make piles of bubble…I swear, Im not a pipe head, I just keep rambling tonight, about basic techniques that dont need anymore explaining and the lady of the house is about to have my head, so lemme get off and see if I cant go work that out :call_me_hand:
Some past harvest photos, hash, etc…

Ill finish this rant in the morning…hope all you late nighters have a good one, bed time for bonzos… :v::heart:

Looks excellent have you tried eliminating the jar technique and went straight to vacuum sealing ?

I have not, was just talking about this with someone though, what is your process? How much do you let it dry? I would think I would keep ripping them open to check on them…I dont really ever have that much to pack up…lol…my only customer, but I like easier better methods, my buddy recently showed me the dry ice hash trick and Im hooked

I aim for 58% seal and forget about it either store in freezer or cool dark area . Cures excellent for a extended period of time .

Nice reading about your harvest process, Dendro. Symbiotic, I think is the word.

Your pic inspired me to try some similar ones this morning. I foliar fed some kelp because the weather has been crazy and I want them happy going into flower. Gave the veggies and melons some love too, melons recovering from invasion of the alien bugs and subsequent slaughter.

Hope you don’t mind, have a great day!

Well good morning to you too @FieldEffect…Hell no I don’t mind, Ive been practically begging! Appreciate you hearin me…Symbiosis has indeed been achieved…beautiful shots! Amazing plants, nice and healthy and tall! Haven’t even been out to the garden this morning, just wanted to check in with yall, still want to get back to Webe about his lesson with the pups, you guys made my night! And I got to give a shout out to my dude @Herrsquidward, haven’t heard from ya in a few days, just hope all is good…Ive got to get on some things this morning and will be back here soon. Thanks for the positive start today brother👊

Damn, those first two are truckin’ along nicely. The next few weeks are going to be insane, when they begin to stretch.

Speaking of advanced degrees, I heard a story about a couple of alligator farms, one was owned by people with degrees who gave them a “scientific” diet while the other was right next to a rabbit farm and were fed any rabbits that didn’t make it. It turns out the gators next to the rabbit farm grew larger and faster than the ones being fed the scientific methods. It seems the scientists got so bogged down in the details that they forgot one important fact: the more you feed something, the larger it tends to get.
The moral of the story: It’s good to understand the science, but there is no substitute for instinct and common sense.
