Discussion: Veg. plant maturity

I grow photo regs

Sometimes I grow them tall enough to take a cut, then flower the base

When I see pistils or balls I know which clones to cull

As I flower the base, I look for trichs, smell the stem rub, and note the growth structure, and cull as needed-

The winning cut gets to live, and flower, but the true test, is either with the re-veg, or clone, because it takes that long for a seed plant to fully mature, in my estimation…

Seedlings always seem to have side by side nodes. But don’t clones usually start out with alternating nodes? That seems like a sure sign of maturity, doesn’t it?

Correct.

Clones are usually taken from a mature plant so the clones are mature also.
