Put some pressure on some of the more horizontal branching, if they snap thats a tell tale sign of the virus. What strains and where’d you get them? If you can get rid of the root aphids you could sent a leaf or root sample to tumi genetics via mail, but not so sure its worth it unless their some prized genetics. Anything thats been in a room with hlvd is getting tossed.
where did the clone come from if you don’t mind my asking? Should always only deal with solid vendors. I myself vend clones & testing is a must. GMO is also very solid and his library is insane. I only ask about where you got it from so the community can be aware. It’s the only way to start nipping these things in the butt.
The horizontal branches are somewhat fragile but they didn’t really snap.
I’m not able to get anything decent locally and that’s why I jumped the gun with those clones. Will try to manage it for a cycle or 2 and then restart everything. And only hunt my own keepers.
The clone scene in EU is much less developed than the US, ‘solid vendors’ just don’t exist it seems I got them from Austria. I don’t mind naming the person but I don’t want to throw him under the bus prematurely as he was otherwise responsive and pleasant to deal with
Where did the clone seller test for hplvd? And i’ve seen live cuts make it across the pond, sure some leafs or root sample would. Just sent beans across that made it in 7 days. Hplvd scares the shit out of me, hope you dont have any other plants bc that shit will spread to everything and even testing isnt all that accurate.
My thoughts are if he tested for hlvd he had an idea or scare that it was there, and if he’s a clone reseller who is passing around root aphids hes not running a “tight ship” over there. Root aphids and fungus gnats will spread it like a wildfire. Would you rather waste 3 months on growing them out or waste 1 month popping new seeds? Some strains can still turn out good with the disease, others will completely dud. Ive noticed gsc hybrids can withstand it in a sense while OGs will turn to ditchweed, only my personal observations from what i was growing at the time. You got to get rid of those root aphids first though and thats not easy with limited resources over there.
Were you already holding cuts you don’t want to lose? I’m no expert so I’d wait for some more users to weigh in, but you definitely want to cull any suspected hlvd plants.
I just went through this. had to cut down and just restart all together after an extreme cleaning was done. Branches go lateral on they own and snap like a toothpick. Viroid stays in lower parts of plant especially roots. Once flower started it shot up to the rest of the upper branching. Big fkn mess… you can still see them through but may just be a hassle with quarantine protocol needs.
Where did you aquire the virus from? I dealt with it for months in a 65 light spot harvesting 15-20 lights every 2 wks, it was the absolute worst to see 15 lights turn to hay and then knowing the ones that just started flower were going to turn out the same. This was in 2017 before we really knew about it but figured it out. @Beau
As usual, I was the vector bringing in clones; assuming healthy circumstances.
Then me stalk rubbing and cleaning up overgrowth between flower room did not help…
Ultimately it was from DWC drain and return system I built ; all up in root system.
Better off wasting nutrients than going through bs like hplv outputs.
