Do you smoke Thai?

So it’s 6 of 7 for the northern thai. I got these seeds out of weed befotten the same way I got it before it was legal and I doubt that technically it wasn’t legal when I “got it” but now consuming it in private and striking a few of the whole ripe seeds that aren’t plentinful but 6 of 7 though a tiny pool from a straight statistical point it still is at least a pretty good rate from pressed and kept weed.

Some variance early on hehe

Though I didn’t get 6 plants from the northern thai as I had to go look with a tool in the soil to see whats up and killed one as I did one of these which I am stoked to still have live ones from as I did manage to kill one of these too that would have grown. Keeping my fat fingers above ground and let them grow in peace hehe

Killed off a few plants over the past few days. Some might think the tropics is a walk in the park and while the climate is pretty good for ganja it is also stellar for a billion things that kill plants. I had a few that were just too picky with the moist in the air and pots and they went out. Two that got attacked by something but its all good. Have a lot of plants and more seeds. Focus now will be to plant the strong into the ground.

Passed some weed and some seeds (thai) to another friend and he was happy. I gave him a few small starts before and he likes to plant things. For me its not a business or for gain, I just love to see another enjoy this plant as I do. Maybe if I am lucky I will see some beautiful flowers in time, like before.

Today is a resting day. Chilling day and then some final touches on the planting spot later tonight when it has cooled down some, now 35 degrees C

Late plants fade early

Has that always been your experience? I recently had observed that, but thought it may have been disease

No these haven’t been feed anything and the soil in the ground isn’t good enough

Nice looking plants. Interesting how they grow branchless. Is that due to the time of year you started do you think?

Found the right spot. I have posted this before but this is the right thread I think and @StocktonT is the man to talk to. Great page!

This is a Lao Gold from RSC and I was lucky enough to clone it before it froze this week. I have it and a strong smelling male. Grew it back in January thinking it would flower sooner since I am in the low 30’s for latitude but no dice!

Hi @Upstate yes they were planted out late in the season. Seeds germinated in July and then planted into the ground in August during the monsoon which is just about over soon. The soil is not the best and it hasn’t been amended and they haven’t received any feed other than what is in the ground. It’s very ”au natural”. I was surprised how short they are and how fast they have faded though.

Hello @Cactus there’s a lot of good people dropping into this one from time to time, welcome and nice pictures. I also have some Lao Gold that I will be trying next season with a few other collected seeds from the Lao/Thai region. Please keep us updated on how your Lao Gold does and thanks for sharing!

I also noted the sparse branching and I don’t know if this is also an effect of the late planting or if these seeds are different in type to those from this source I have grown past seasons. Usually they have been much more branching with that classic thai fight for apical dominance where it can seem to change meristem many times. I don’t know if this is an effect of the late planting, trimming and smoking them will tell me but that’s still some time to go.

It is from seed and transplanted around July thought that it would have the best chance to flower. A big wind storm came up and almost killed it. I picked it back up and tied it to the limb to the tree next to it. If you zoom in you can see the tiny green garden wire holding it up. It healed but left it on taking no chances. The pic is of her changing going into flower was from about a month ago but she got froze. I am a thousand miles (1600 km) north of there finishing a house I am building and my wife is taking care of the rest of the plants inside obviously. I have the female cloned and have a good male from Angus RSC inside the grow room also. I made seeds last year from the other Lao type and saved them and have some hybrids from it. I crossed it with blue dream, zombie virus and freak chunk. I just let the male pollinate everything . I still smoked all the buds with my buddies and we just saved the seeds as the jars emptied.

Nice man, it’s all about the experience! I have the Lao Gold and Bokeo #2 from Angus and I will try them next season. Always fun to play with some pollen and make some seeds. What was ”the other Lao type” you grew?

Highland Lao#2, and the Tom Hill freak chunk. Been trying to get all the Tom Hill line he has but I think the little brother has issues with the authorities trying to exert their presence if you know what I mean. Beating up on farmers wow when is that going to end.
