I have a problem. The plants will be ripe in about 14 days. 12 days ago I put in 2 Dragonade which are intended for another place. But I now have a male and a female and could make beautiful Bodhi F2 seeds. How long does it take for the pollen to explode? And would it make any difference? Doesn’t pollination matter if the harvest is in 2 weeks anyway ? Or am I making a mistake ?
Oh, I had forgotten something. Please answer
my guess is you will end up with a bunch of lil seeds like flat poppy seeds.
Usually they dont taste bad cause there is no oils yet.
3-5 hours for pollination
3-5 days before calyxes swell
35 days or so for mature seeds.
yu should have tried top isolate pollen to the lower branches and saved that for a later harvesrt date.
Thanks , I have only known that it is male for 2 days. You can see the first pollen sac. I need to know how long it takes for pollen to fly because the other plants will be ripe in about 14 days. The question is whether this could affect my harvest. Should I throw out the male and start again with F2 production after the harvest or just leave it?
Please show pictures of the sacs in question.
Thanks
It’s variable by strain but figure 10 days to 2 weeks before the snow flies.
You could try hitting some of the less mature lowers with pollen, Then in 2 weeks go ahead and harvest but leave the lowers and don’t kill the plant. Just stick it outside or somewhere out of the way to let the beans mature. Another way, would be to take the bottom plant and put it back in veg…the seeds will still develop if the fertilization was good.
true. i haven’t done the pollinate and reveg trick yet but i have read it works with no issues and its such a useful tool in our bag of tricks.
It’s actually happening right now here. I had a timer take a crap on me and I was vegging the male I thought I was flowering. That cost me two weeks. I had 5 plants fertilized and 2 I put back in veg, 3 went outside…it worked out pretty good.
and those seedlet immature seed things we locally call “seed nibbies”. Worse than fully seeded, lol. (and better than being a corn nibbie )
I also had the option of parking the man outside for longer, but that’s exactly how I got lice and spider mites into my tent last year. And the treatment weakens and slows down flower development every time. I made up my decision and just drowned the man in the toilet . The risk of mini seeds in the harvest is also too great for me. It will also be better to do F2 properly. With at least 4 or 5 plants. I still have Old Soul from Bodhi and Dragonade. I still have to decide which one I will do. But I’ve actually had my eye on Old Soul for a while. Okay. Thanks guys for your help. I’ve learned something again.
seems a bit much
im pretty sure you were just given option to not do that
Once it goes outside you don’t bring it back in…that’s a rule I live by (mostly) It’s spider mite heaven out here this summer unfortunately.
Was the male special? If so, you could have taken a cut as another option.
Don’t worry. The plant was already dead before it was thrown into the water. I love my plants
That’s right. I think Dragonade is something special. If I didn’t have 11 more pieces, I would probably have cut a clone.
Spider mites are the plague . I can drown them in the toilet, can’t I ? I used lacewing larvae for the first time this year. That worked well. But still because I am as careful and clean as possible. It’s an eternal struggle.
