EarthBox vs. RainScience Bag

Pulled the roots from the Jack that was in the Earthbox Junior. She had a large root system going everywhere.

Damn that is pretty cool looking. I might just have some earthboxes showing up in a few days… It will be time to fire another tent up and transplant into the EB’s so they can recover and flower.

Very interesting root distribution.
That explains why the plant was twice the size.
The roots tend to avoid the wells, just too wet maybe. Is the root density constant through the “block”?
Doesn’t look like there’s much soil to recycle…

It is pretty equal density until you get to the top. Seems more like a tree root at top. Large, thick roots, along with smaller feeder roots.

Total yield from the Jack in the Earthbox Junior, which is less than 4 gallons of soil, was 8 ounces of bud. Less than an ounce of shake and mids. Over an 1/8 of kief.

Wow!!! That’s impressive. Might have to get a few of those. Great job man.

Good work @Old-Ron !

You’ve inspired me to try out some earth boxes. :+1:

Love the low maintenance for sure. I have some of those 7 gal rainscience grow bags and they are very time consuming.

Thanks. The one thing I did not account for in size for the tent is how much the plant can blow up and take over the space.

They are. You can get some nice plants and yields from them, but so far nothing like the Earthbox.

Hell ya bud, pretty good yield ya got there indeed.

Thanks @bassman5420. Will be interesting to see what the Original ones do. 7 gallons of soil and a lot more room.

Indeed. It will be a cramped test I will be doing lol. I may be tossing 3 plants into my smallest tent (32x32) that I used for one of my last grow diaries. If I do that, I will toss 2 of them in 1 box and 1 in the other. Plan on just veging them till they are trying to kick into better health and flip to flower. It will be a packed tent like usual, but I think that’s my best bet for everything at the moment. I may do 1 original and 1 junior, we shall see .

I will be looking forward to seeing that test. If you put it on here, tag me please.

I have a Blue Monster I did from seed in a junior. Look forward to seeing the difference in roots as compared to the clones I grew and are growing now.

Nice job @Old-Ron !!! How much light was the Jack getting? How long did you veg it for in the EB?

Thanks @unomas. She vegged in there for 2 weeks. I moved her from a one gallon pot.

She was under an HLG 660 rspec at 80%.

@Old-Ron I got the crew together finally. Time to clear out the small tent and pot some plants. I know the tent is going to be insanely overgrown, but I have no other choice at the moment other than put 2 plants in the big earthbox and put the other tallest plant into the junior. Just going to trellis them all out and try to flower as soon as the canopy is filled out. I could swap tents and use the bigger one so I could get a little crazier with it.

I missed the free shipping sale for black Friday on the earthbox website. I ended up just getting them through amazon.

I’ll probably just get a couple anyway. I was raised to never pay full price though.
