I’ll probably just order them from there site. I hate giving anything to bezos. After all he refers to his money as his “winnings.” What a tool. 🤷
A friend of mine did 2 per Earthbox.
It works. Just suggest flipping them quicker, and you may have to water more frequently in flower.
Moisten the wicking soil good when you put it in, then fill the rest in. I top watered heavy the first time. I didn’t add water to the reservoir for a few days after that.
Just worked well that way for me, wanted to share it here.
@ChemicalDependant posted this over on the SIP thread recently. Not earthbox brand, but look good.
Thanks for sharing that @CADMAN. I have chatted with a couple people who used the City Pickers. They were happy with them, but they didn’t go buy anymore.
Each person is different on what fits their needs and style. I am trying some dwc right now. There is extremely fast growth, but can not say it could beat an Earthbox. At least for me.
There is this too. About the same with bigger water res.
Any word on why?
They were just not that impressed with them. They seemed like they were expecting bigger plants. Not sure what they grew, but it could have been the strain too.
I noticed the pickers you can get at some of the big box stores. May make them a better option for some people.
Looking at that one, seems theirs does not come with a fitted cover, just one you lay over it. Would definitely let more pests in I would think.
A garbage bag is a garbage bag? Right? I haven’t heard the covers lasting long on the RIU SIP topic on commercial SIPS, so I wouldn’t give it much worry.
@ChemicalDependant I was really gonna buy the one you posted about mostly cause it’s got wheels to move outta the tent if needed, but I still more badly wanna build @Pigeonman hybrid system lol can’t decide on 5gal pale style or full blown tote bucket. I just really am too picky, I like growing more then 1 plant at a shot lol
DOOOOO IT!
I’m using the city picker brand now and I’ve really like them so far. One thing I will say is that I think the Jr. or smaller size of city pickers is a little too small for cannabis. My plants this round in the smaller boxers suffered little, while the bigger boxes crushed it.
Another thing that I do like about the city picker boxes is that you can easily fit 4 of them in a 4x4 tent, I’m not sure you can fit 4 Earthbox brand ones in a 4 x4 tent. I did pick up two additional bigger boxes for my next run, so I’ll be running all bigger boxes next round. But like Old-Ron said, each person is different and choose what fits your needs.
Here’s what the city picker tent is looking like today, about day 61 from flip. I don’t think I’m going back to pots…
5gal is too small, I say.
They may have used the smaller version @iamyou_youareme. Would make sense why they were not as happy.
You have some beautiful looking plants there. Really nice. I definitely prefer growing in an EB over a pot or bag.
You could fit 4 Earthboxes Originals in a 4 x 4. However, depending on what you are growing, the plants may get too big.
The earlier picture of my friends grow, she has 3 in a 2 x 4 tent. She is hoping to keep the plants smaller…lol
Thanks @Old-Ron ! Your plants are very nice looking as well. And I agree, I think if you ran some plants from seed in the boxes, they may overgrow your tent! Mine were all clones that I flipped pretty early.
I saw that picture and laughed too, thinking to myself, good luck trying to contain all those plants once they hit the water rez and start to take off! It’s going to be a jungle in there, get out the pruning shears!
I’m using 1gal right now lol
I was thinking of doing the blumats but then came across this thread and im convinced of switching to the SIPs with the automated watering at this point… Has anyone tried aerating and pHing their res’s or do you just add in water from tap so to speak and let the plant do its thing?

I ph my water everytime. I also add nutes in the water. 90% of the time they get the same water my bags and pots get. If they get dry before I want to water the others. They just get ph’d water to take care of them.
I also let my EBs get dry to help with aeration of the soil and res. They do the rest.
If you use their self watering system then I dont know if you could let the res go dry (unless you turned it off of course). I wonder if keeping a pump and air stone in the res would cause it to go acidic or not…
I used straight tap water, that I bubbled for 24 hours or so. I switched rainwater the last 1/4 of this run. I never PH, never add nutes or anything to water. Just straight water. The water is good here though. Everything else is in the organic mix or I top-dressed later on (Like BAS Craft Blend, Bokashi, etc)
