That’s good to know. I always see folks mixing in the bags. So you stack the bags, mix in a bucket and than pour the material though?
That is the safest way.
Makes sense to me. Than you can beat the daylights out of the bud with the mix to get all the trichomes and just dump and rinse the bucket into the first bag. Glad someone pointed it out though as all the vids I have seen show them mixing in the bags. I guess you could but why chance it and have to buy new bags.
The mixing gets boring so its easy to zone out and get a little reckless.
It depends a lot on the bags you are using. The Bubbleman bags are heavy duty, plus there are grades of bags you can get off him. If you are using the cheaper brands mixing it up separately and then running through the bags is a good idea. The 5 gallon bags I have are the highest grade he makes and I have been mixing in my work bag for 3 years now without any damage to the work bag at all. A lot of the knock-off brands I wouldn’t mix in the bag and do as suggested on the above posts. But I have also only used the 5 gallon bags so can’t speak to any of the other sizes.
Dont do that! You will end up with green hash. You can over do it. You just want trics to break off and sink.
I will have to read your thread and see how you are doing it………
Definitely! Feel free to take any ideas there and become better than me
Well thank you. Doubt I will be better then you but better I hope!
I am always down for learning new tricks…….
If you have time to read a novel-length string of postings I start with “my bubble hash making tech” where I make it the old fashioned way and lose the contest. Then I transform by making freeze dried hash and winning the contest. After that I’m onto “hash making revisited” where I start out by reviewing the method I used to win the contest. Then going nuts on the rosin press
Ah wish I did that the first time around I didn’t get to mix either batch that well. Wonder if I could have gotten a better yield. I have plenty more material to run I’ll be doing some more soon and won’t be putting that damn work bag inside the bin.
I vaguely remember reading somewhere that you freezer dry your hash. After it has been microplaned or sieved how long am I looking at until this stuff is done drying? A few weeks?
Edit: I still haven’t found a good water to ice ratio either. I don’t want to put too much ice so I can’t mix (vortex possibly knocks off trichs) but I am also a bit worried about the water not being cold enough. I buy ice by weight so a ratio in weight would be helpful. There’s a short guide on lowtemp plates but they use commercial 75 gal washing machine.
I’ll run between a bag and a half to 2 bags in a 5 gal pail your typical gas station size they’d be 5 lbs each ?
Curious about how you store your hash after you’ve dried it in the freezer, and how you prevent condensation from gathering on it transferring it to storage?
I’m not drying it in my freezer. I am letting it dry for several hours before freezing. As far as storage, I use a Tupperware storage container with paper towel lining on the bottom of it.
Once in the freezer it stays there until use. What little I need for a session pretty much gets used up.
Well I have just started the return for that set of bags. The chance came up for a better deal. Still going to be trying this but am getting a Bubble Bag Dude washing machine and full set of their bags. Taking away all that hand mixing sounds like a great idea to me
Guaranteed to have some good stuff! My old bags are permanently stained from all my previous runs.
I have not used that brand however, or that fancy machine!! Run us through a couple runs when you can!
Please give us a review of that rig. @DougDawson
I really wanted to get one but wasn’t sure how good the returns are so I didn’t go for it yet
Only down side I’ve heard on the machine is change out the corrugated drain hose for a smooth one . As far as the bags my brother has them and there well made and work well.
Ditto on this!
