Like I said I’d only grow every couple yrs then n I enjoy growing. It’s not just those friends it’s literally everyone in this area bunch of haters lol.
40+ years and seems like another job.
Get off my PT job and it’s time to tend plants, even thou it’s for ourselves still time consuming.
I’m still looking for my grail, I’m sure I’ve had it but in the scope for looking for it it’s gone so itn to the next and the next and the next.
I go balls out for a 8 month run and try to cram everything I can.
Some are worth having some are trash found alot of the new trash so redirected all my work to the older gear that’s been 5 years now.
It’s nice taking spring and summer off I prefer not to fight the heat and the promise of mold issues.
I gotta garage I’m gonna have the floor poured here shortly.
Trees to knock down, stumps to grind, raised beds to build and put up.
An orchard to plant and chain link up so the deer don’t get.
And still have to find time for another passion Fishing. It’s one of the main reasons I moved up here, that and I’m in an area where I’m not fucked with I hope.
We’re the lowest effected state with this crud going around.
Now if everyone would just stay the fuck where they belong instead of bringing that shit up here.
Hey @beacher, I nearly threw the towel in when bud rot showed up in my grow.
I read a story once about Ehrenfried Pfeiffer who was a student of Rudolf Steiner.
He was visiting a lady who had a disease show up in her orchard.
While she was describing it to him, Pfeiffer wandered off along a wooden fence, stopping often to examine parts of it.
He returned to tell her some of the fence posts were harboring a specific fungus that was causing the disease in her trees, even though it was many yards away.
Apparently wood of any type can harbor detrimental fungi.
From that story I started looking hard at my particle board cabinet.
I made it myself expressly for my grows, painted all interior parts with 2 coats Kilz and 4 coats flat white.
Despite my efforts, the wood got wet at times and sometimes went unnoticed.
I grow in my basement also and that too contributed to the 'board picking up moisture.
I see wood in some of your pics upthread and can’t help but suggest the not too costly move to mylar tents.
Worked for me so far. 3+ yrs.
Living situation changes stopped me from growing for a long time. Not by choice.
Although before, when I was growing there were a few times I popped way too many males and wanted to give up lol.
I’ve quit growing weed in the past but always growing something. One thing I’ll say, for me at least, the bad doesn’t last forever…neither does the good. I hope you find a happy spot again soon.
Hey thanks, I think you’re probably right. I’m thinking I need to remove everything porous from my basement, sanitize the whole area somehow and start again from there. Preferably I’d keep my boxes in there, they don’t get wet at all and they took FUCKING FOREVER to build lol
Also I’d need to find custom tents as it’s extremely tight for space down there…hence the custom made boxes. Believe me I would have much rather used tents from the start
But ya I think my only chance is to eliminate it at the source…hail mary time
film all day y’all. Doesn’t complain about cleanser, cheap, easy to work with or replace, retains almost zero heat.
@cogitech It’s totally natural. It means you’re growing for all the wrong reasons, tho.
Try changing up and growing a different plant, not just a different type of weed but maybe a flower or fruit bearing plant, maybe something with an autowatering system so you can get back to enjoying your garden without the tedium of caring for your garden.
Nice build, I’ve been jealous of your door for a while now haha. Mine are similar just more shoddily constructed, and i used hardboard for the walls.
yup last year it became such a chore for me i shut my flower tent down for months and i could barely even motivate myself to water the veg tent every 2nd day… ended up killing 4 or 5 plants thru neglect and as i was throwing them out i discovered a major thrips infestation that had been there since i took an outdoor clone the previous summer, so ~6 months. so basically tossed everything…
i’m glad to have my tent running again tho and keeping myself motivated by keeping the workload smaller (growing smaller plants in smaller pots), staggering my harvests so i don’t have to chop down and then trim shit loads all at once by myself, and having lots of variety in my tents so i stay excited and never get tired of my smoke
Trimming the bud up nice is my worst part too. The rest of it i enjoy
Once left a post harvest so long it was smelling real dull, not like that chicken poo smell because had been kept aired but wasnt fresh and nice either. Boring part for me is manicuring it, used to be fussy as now im thinking whats wrong with a bitta leat if its not full of nasty chems anyway. With the vape its actually a good thing and way less work. My dutch mates made me think leafs a bad thing, they said the plant puts its nasties, excess nitro etc in the leaf. No nasty no problem, all good
Roger that @smokenhike!
Ok, I play around with it a little more and add some other items but basically that’s it.
Sure, you can grow more weed and a bit faster with other methods but you can’t beat dirt for simplicity and forgiveness.
Cheers
G
I’m happy to report I am out of my rut and things are going along quite nicely. This has been an interesting thread. I appreciate everyone’s feedback and different perspectives.
Good to hear bud! What are you growing right now, and what (if anything) helped things get better?
Finishing up a Romulan seed run (which ended up going really well after a lot of dicking around) and just started some Lebanese x Sweet Pure Auto CBD that I crossed.
I think finally succeeding with the Romulans really helped me shake of the negativity. In general I have been trying to learn to be happier with my life situation rather than focus on bad stuff. You know, “counting my blessings”.
My 76-year-old mother had a terrible fall into a deep ravine while hiking with her dog and it was a reminder to us all that every day could be our last. She was incredibly lucky that she came out of it with some stitches in her head and knee, a black eye, partial retinal detachment, and bruises everywhere. Even a slight difference in that fall could have ended her life. We all learned an even better lesson a week later, when she put her hiking shoes on and resumed her hikes with the dog. She still refuses to hike with my dad, because he’s too slow for her.
I figure if she can go through that and bounce back, at her age, then I need to stop fuckin’ whining and get on with enjoying life.
There was a time I wanted to stop I was Ill
And just could not manage to keep any thing alive
That’s long over feet on the ground and cracking seeds
Peace
Iv stumbled onto using a wicking system with some of my plants (16)oz completion I’d say there as easy as those Octopots some are using here on OG , I’m going to try some outdoor with my fabric 5 gallon pots wick size is determined by diameter of pot!
any time I do I just go out and buy a bag of weed
and then I remember why I started and why I keep growing
all the best
Dequilo
@cogitech have you made it back?
