Favorite strain currently available from a major seed bank?

I have sent emails to Gu at GPS but have not yet received a response and, hence, am posting this notice here in the meantime.

Please be advised: For those using CC transactions with Greenpoint Seeds (GPS), there have been some recent reports of CC number theft and fraud that MAY be related to transactions processed through GPS (and the off-shore CC processor).

This is very much based on anecdotal evidence at the moment (and it’s hard to be 100% certain where this data is being leaked) as it is reported under pseudonym on other forums. Please note, GPS attracts a fair amount of detractors attacking them on different fronts but, in this case, there is also some direct evidence that this might actually be a problem.

To stay safe with online transactions, it would be suggested to utilize money orders for purchases from them (in the near term) until this thing get sorted out. Most importantly, do not ever use a direct debit/CC linked card generally with off-shore processors.

I will revise or delete this post once more is understood…

was your card compromised ? it’s a good idea to use disposable or reloadable cards for purchases i guess, tbh hackers are constantly looking to steal peoples fulls

Yup, it was, but that was in late March (shortly after an order was processed via their CC transaction processor). A third party monitoring service was alerted to suspicious activity and blocked the fraudulent activity before it got out of hand.

I had several previous orders through them without issue.

Right now, there is some chatter from others suspecting that something is comprised in how the transactions are being processed. Similar story and it caught my attention. Nothing from GPS as of yet.

Agree, was being lazy. I have a running list of reasons not to be lazy…

I’m very happy with Ace. I like purchasing direct from the breeder, their descriptions are dead on and after growing and sampling 4 different strains they get 2 thumbs up. Good customer service and great genetics.

The Feminized Panama lady I had is so good I’m re vegging her, only the second time I have ever re vegged a plant.

Still have 8 or 9 more Ace strains to go before I pick a fav. but Panama is the early favorite so far.

i feel really bad for gu… i guess he released some S1s of popular strains (wedding cake, gg4, dosidos, purple punch, mimosa) from another breeder and apparently 2 or 3 people got multiple males and now the rumor mill has turned it in to some huge conspiracy and a few people saying their CCs got stolen at the same time, damn shitty timing lol

Ugggh, yeah. Heavy lifting required to clear the air.

I did receive a response this morning from GPS on the CC thing. I don’t want to post the content here but it amounts to a “not our problem” defensive response at this point. Which could be the case if I’m the only one that had experienced this. If there are others, though, this could very much become their problem. I’m making attempts to clarify the issue.

does the detail collection occur on gps.com or are you redirected to the processors site to complete the transaction? if they don’t collect/store any CC data themselves then it would have to be payofix or whatever. but i think i saw one guy on RIU say both cards he used were compromised, and either one or both was only used on GPS

The form entry appears to be served from their website and then the data is then forwarded to the processor. Not redirected (not like Paypal). They are using Javascript or something under the sheets but I didn’t look at where the served code is coming from nor how the submission functionality is implemented.

They note that their transaction processor is PCI compliant (but little information publicly available, take a look at https://payofix.com/). This is similar to saying that your business is ISO9000 certified because your vendor says they are (pretty much a useless designation anyhow). They do note that they do not store the information (locally).

But whatever the case may be it doesn’t matter, they have been made aware that something might be wrong. Even if it’s not their system that is leaking the information, a “not our problem” response from them is curious to me.

Thanks for the info on Ace, I have been wanting to order a couple of different strains from them. And, I think you’ve convinced me to pull the trigger…

We just did a dried, not cured smoke test on some Guawi buds. It was very good, potential top shelf smoke. The yield is outrageous from an indoor grown Sativa dominant strain that finishes in under 12 weeks. Mine went about 11 weeks.

The Panama is a keeper and it finishes quick with a nice yield. Kali China has to be one of the best strains you’ll ever get as a freebie. Great smells and flavor, very good potency but a little below average yielder. The violeta has some real nice color and exotic smells with a nice relaxing high.

The Guawi, Panama and Kali China were grown from feminized seeds. The violeta were from regs.

It was initially a good point yes and interresting to discover the long term relationship of somes growers with their favorite (available in the market) strain, in depth.

But more than 50% of the thread is now polluted, at the point than i don’t known where to split this pollution lol (seedbank reviews ? bud porn ? wishlist ? …). Better to relaunch a thread than to revive this one.

I dont see the need to split the thread into anything. Thats just going to leave confusion behind.

Trying to keep “order” in an on-line forum discussion is a lost cause before it ever gets started. Ive been on on-line forums since the fastest modems were 900 baud. Its ALWAYS been like this and it always will be, no matter what forum you are on.

I would highly recommend you not try to fight nature

I have seen several threads on here split for these reasons. Im assuming the idea is to keep things orderly, but I hate it. The last thread this happened to, the main advice I gave to the OP was lost in the split. Other things that may have seemed off topic at first, were actually very relevant to different parts of the OP’s question and they got lost as well.

Please try to resist the temptation to “manage” our discussion  This is just the natural way conversations go in the real world. You cant change people just because they are on-line. Thats especially true for a bunch of stoner pot heads

I agree on these points, but on BBS the self-moderation was a more natural habit. People was more able to segregate the informative thread from the “funky” ones imho.

My concern is more about the broken dynamic as the consequence. Since ~March, no one want to take the time to write a long feeback as an insertion in a off topic tchit-tchat.

I’ve found the initial subject and idea very interesting for newcomers, because it accumulate twos factors than are rare today :

  • the concept of favorite strain in this term :

And your own precisions on the initial question than i’ve allready quoted. Specially this :

Which mean more than just a “name-dropping/fanboying” , in term of intrinsequal value. It get out this type of information from the usual “breeder’s dedicated topic where everyone is happy with the best strains of the world” ^^

We failed to get a topic filled with a true diversity and accurate informations on specific strains than still available in seeds today.

  • the selective feedback than is considering only the motherplants than come from available seeds on the market for everyone, so no elitist unicorns.

So no, i will not edit anything to relaunch the interrest; it’s way too late for that.
But i’m still frustrated by this born-dead quality thread.

I think this thread was bumping along ok until it got dragged off topic about 10 hrs ago. Anyone can chose to join in, maybe even post something that brings it back on topic. Also they can simply chose not to read it if it somehow doesn’t meet their standards.

Anyway in the interests of this thread i will attempt to steer it back on topic.

One of my favorite recent strains is Sugar Black Rose by Delicious Seeds. It’s fairly small in stature compared to many but it’s a fast developer with buds so sweet that i cant leave it alone, it goes fast. It also packs quite a punch and has good anti insomnia properties.

Smug factor = 8/10
