Federal legalization in the USA, what does the future hold for cannabis?

not to mention the benjamins in your top dresser drawer and mom asking where did these come from…

I put mine on the upper shelf of the closet just to avoid such a thing.

Exactly like kudzu. We could get rid of it if the state would just pay a bounty of about a dollar per pound on it. Even that would probably cost less than what’s been spent on cannabis eradication.

I definitely think that the future of cannabis is bright and it’s going to be huge on a federal level. There are so many states and countries that have already recognized the medicinal benefits of cannabis that I don’t see how it can’t happen. As far as the future of commercial cannabis growing in cannabis bag at home, I hope that the powers that be will take a ‘hands off’ approach and not legislate in an overbearing fashion. If that is the case, it will be a win for everyone involved.

They were fun, but it’s good they’re over. Yes, being a “head” used to mean something, as did having classically liberal ideas. Now, those things are the norm. It’s not all about cannabis, either. Information has never been more available. Unlike yesteryear, when information was one-way (TV, radio, magazines, etc.), now everyone has a voice (social media, comments sections, etc.). Those who want to control the flow of information have to work a lot harder to do so, and a lot of them are failing at it.

Look at Tobacco, Vape, Alcohol, Prescription Drugs.

When the Fed steps in, they basically hand the market over to the “BIG” guys. They do so by making the regulations so onerous that only the big guys can afford a seat at the table.

Seriously, look at the vape industry, when the Feds “Deemed” vape as a tobacco product back in 2016, all of the little guys in the US had to cash out as the “PMTA” required costs 100s of thousands of dollars to put together, and even then there was no probability of being accepted. There are “NO” little guys left in the US vape industry now. Big Tobacco got the lions share. They can afford the scientific studies required by the PMTA, few others can…

The Feds make things so onerous that only deep pockets can afford to play! Its the Federal Way! Big money keeps Washington humming like a well greased machine, small money get thrown to the curb.

I greatly prefer regulation by the States, they still play the money game too, but on a smaller scale, plus they have us pesky voters to hold their toes to the fire. Federal elections always boil down to a choice of the lessor evil, and many of the most important position (FDA etc) are appointed rather than elected.

I hope I am wrong, but history paints a pretty clear picture.

I agree!
You may wear a silly hat, but there is a lot going on inside that head of yours.

Basically, the government creates the conditions for criminals to control the alcohol/tobacco/drug trade. Their next move is to take control away from street criminals and hand it over to business criminals.

I’d rather it be federally decriminalized.

Legalization will allow big corporations to write the laws, and not in you or my interest.

Whatever happens, I hope the DEA’s domestic eradication budget is cut considerably or cut off completely. We’ll see how gung-ho individual states are about cannabis when they have to pay from their own coffers.
You’re right that decrim would be the best for everyone, including the cops. They could talk tough and maybe even put on a dog-and-pony-show once in a while, but not be able to do much of anything about it. The truth is they’re not going to go out of their way to write a ticket and confiscate people’s plants. With decrim comes de-prioritization. Eventually, the cops will ignore cannabis and start worrying about real crime.

It’s all about power and control. And sometimes, just being a dickhead for no good reason is enough to satisfy them.

They want a piece of the Billions of dollars in taxed cannabis. :heavy_dollar_sign: :heavy_dollar_sign: :heavy_dollar_sign: :heavy_dollar_sign: :heavy_dollar_sign: :heavy_dollar_sign: :heavy_dollar_sign: :heavy_dollar_sign: :heavy_dollar_sign: :heavy_dollar_sign:

some things get impaired while others get improved. when i was in the army, we had a weaponeer in the dayroom. we all took turns on it and kept the printouts. i shot 35 out of 40. when we got high, we did it again and kept the printouts. i got expert, 40 out of 40, all of them headshots. pretty sure everyone improved, but not like mine. i won’t get high before skydiving though since it makes you lose altitude awareness.
