Federal legalization in the USA, what does the future hold for cannabis?

Schedule substance means a substance that is regulated. Descheduled means it will become unregulated…no restrictions…just like tomatoes, or carrots, or onions, or cabbage, or, or…or…you get it right?

Exactly! Cannabis should be like grass or flowers. If I wanna have a yard full of tulips or tomatoes, you don’t see anyone complaining of that or it being illegal. I should be able to have as many plants as I want.

That could be achieved by lower taxes and less red tape, but we both know that’s not going to happen.

It becomes legal once the shareholders on Wall Street are convinced they can make more money selling it than they do selling governments the means to eradicate it. What I mean is drug enforcement is big business. A lot of people make a lot of money in drug enforcement, and they’re not about to give that up, unless that income can be supplanted by legal sales of cannabis and cannabis-related business.

Yes, can’t easily slash police budgets without serious blowback.

It will suck as it does in Canada. The state will regulate and get their pound of flesh through entry fees and tax the shit out of it. People who lobbied against it,supported lengthy jail sentences, and destroyed peoples lives want to control the other side of the coin for continued profit and eliminate the small guy.Now the genepool will degrade by mixing everything together every which way and the weed becomes the same more or less and gets weaker and less satisfying. It will be like buying beer, take what is offered and treated as a marketed commodity and there is no more respect or love of the plant.

Portland, OR did it. Oh wait you said “without serious blowback”

We are already seeing this trend.
Folks here in detroit don’t care about quality cannabis anymore.
Everyone round here buys it and I feel bad cause I do not wanna smoke it.
I grow my own.
They seem to have 2 kinds of weed, average and shitty, both are tasteless.

Gardening, in general, gets no respect.

The average consumer never cared in the first place so nothing is really lost.

not exactly, as the things you mentioned are also regulated by the first letter in the name of the agency in the us, fda. it would still be better since you could grow your own, like we do with food, but nothing is unregulated in the us anyway. not any more.

Reefer madness, and all that.

In my area you can buy it from Native Reservations starting at $5 a gram or you can go to legal outlets and pay more, either way it’s just mainstream pretty looking weak, sleeper weed that just drains your motivation, has no pleasant high to it,and then you lose your day because you don’t feel like doing anything. I won’t give the government the satisfaction of taking more of my tax after doing time for it . It’s a scam, here it is psuedo legal and they doubled the penalties at the same time to monopolize. I respect the Natives for ignoring them, they are immune due to Treaties . One outlet close to where I work was busted 5 times in one month and they just open the next day and filed a law suit so they leave them alone now.

I can get it for $2 a gram. It’s probably outdoor from 3 years ago but it’s available.

I just bought some legal hash at high retail and it’s ok but just ok. I paid taxes on it which falls me but what can you do.

But I’m Canadian so maybe it doesn’t apply.

It’s getting to the point where vegetable plant prices will be competitive. I think if you want to make $ off of it you better have the quality to fill that niche of people willing to pay. Most people are price shopping and more and more people are going to NBL,growing their own, caring less about yield and passing on the legal scene. Most that I run across at gatherings is only better than nothing weed. I didn’t know you could buy legal hash in Canada,my sons wifes sister works at a legal outlet and she always has trash with creative names but they sell a lot so maybe it’s me ,people must be happy.

Yeah if you told me 20 years ago that the govt would deliver hash to my door I wouldn’t have believed you.

I’ve yet to encounter “good” legal weed.

We had a green pepper grow business down the road and the guy leased it to Tilray and that lasted a couple of years and they closed shop because they couldn’t move product ,now he’s back to peppers,he was the smart one.

The government doesn’t seem to understand that they’ll get their tax money from most people. The number of people who actually grow is already small, and will continue to shrink as time goes by.
While things are far from ideal, at least the state isn’t calling in the cavalry over a couple of plants anymore. I’ll take the problems that come from legalization over the ones caused by prohibition any day of the week.

We have it here. :100: Oregon “nothing beats growing it yourself”. Something very magical about cultivating your own medicine.

Waved at a cop this morning walking the dogs smoking a joint the size of a tampon. I don’t normally wave at cops, I strongly dislike them but I couldn’t resist because stoned and funny
