Fleur du Mal Seeds

This one is definitely making me feel a lot different (more positive) about the notion of “pre-DJ” blueberry strains, this is straight BB fire.

Found some Blue Widow info to share:

Blue Widow

Mostly Indica

Origin: California

Breeder: NCGA

"BlueBerry (female from British Columbia) x White Widow (Aloha male)

APPEARANCE: Very short plant, up to 80cm with short to medium internodes, no central stalk but rather many stems forming a bush almost as wide as tall. Fat indica dark green leaves turn more slender when flowering. Very consistent. Height, nodes and density are all very uniform.

Buds: Budding is slow at first, then it explodes with orange hairs forming thick, rock solid clusters covered in abundant shiny glands, all possessing an unmistakable blue hue to the tops. Good side branching will form dense solid buds with much resin everywhere, in between small thick leaves.

Taste/smell: Smelling like a strong house cleaner that tingles the nose, it is extremely tasty, with a sweet hashyberry flavor that explodes in the lungs.

High: Very strong, nice up, clear high, exhilarating, floaty, very visual buzz. It is more powerfull, and has a much better high than either BlueBerry or White Widow, but is not very heavy.

Yield: It is high, being an easy to grow plant. Budding is slow at first, but then explodes with thick solid clusters with orange hairs and a very high calyx to leaf ratio. The AK-47 is a good yielding plant inoors but the Blue Widow will out yield it - NCGA

“Here’s a great tip for you people starting out. Don’t get caught in the hype about how great Sensi, Serious, Sagarmatha and Greenhouse are. They are very good but they are just very good commercial pot. The strains have been around in some form or other for 5 to 10 years and lots of them have lost their original zip. However … some of the new ones by NCGA tip the scales at excelent. Blue Widow is more powerful and has much better high then Sags Blue Berry and Greenhouse White Widow. Stoneblue absolutely destroys the original Stonehedge and Blue Berry that it was made from. Stronger, sweeter with bigger buds that still have distinct Blue Berry. The reason NCGA’s strains are so much better is because of hybrid vigor. Not to mention their price is much much better.” - Merry Gary

I’ve found references to its original name when released in the 90s as Widow Blue(s) but Blue Widow seems to be where it settled eventually.

Hmm but fdm’s page says it is DJ’s Blueberry

Oh totally right @HolyAngel I think I misspoke there. More like that if there’s this much Blueberry in something 25% DJ Blue it’s also coming from somewhere else. I’ve read a bunch of older heads talking about their favorite Silver Pearl pheno being pure blueberry cheesecake or pancakes, the baked goods flavor. I think of this FDM original as Baud’s remake of Blueberry to bring the vigor back

hmm I might have to pick up a pack of those then. I love a good Widow, good Blueberry, can’t really go wrong with Silver Pearl imo. Sounds like a great combo and definitely looks the part too from what you’re showing here. How many have you ran so far?

Those doughy/baked goods terps can come out of Triangle Kush too…

This was my first, just got a sampler pack of 5-6 but I only dropped three so I’ll be growing her out again soon. Wish I had kept a cut tho! I need to restock on FDM this year maybe by 4/20 I’ll have the money and I’m def getting a full pack to make some selections with and keep seed for a long time. I’m impressed at how much it kept on being chunky and heavy despite being moderately seeded, not everything does that but maybe that’s the older genetics being more ok with carrying seed.

Here’s another description or two of it from way back in some threads:

Ahh dang I’ve been stating the way the cross goes all wrong:

Aha @HolyAngel there’s another verification that it is in fact DJs BB

And then I grew this OG mix that apparently looked like a Janis cross based on the plant and when I got the pack:

Nice job, that stuff looks dank. Bummer there’s no fems. Look forward to smoke report

Not B’s style just gotta get some FDM and make them yourself, find a nice lady and reverse her. My sense of the attitude of a lot of older breeders is that they feel that their job and special skill is creating and maintaining a diverse or stabilized M/F seedline, and that pheno hunting clones or making selfed fems etc are more for the next generation of growers to do with their work.

I totally get it. I’m an older guy near 50. Just have 1 tent so it’s hard not to buy the fems, know what I mean? Maybe you could fem your best pheno and send it my way haha…messing with you.

Brother the day I do, I’ll try to remember this!

Silver pearl is one of those legendary strains that got lost to time much like skunk. Everybody says it was so good from sensi seeds way back when. Would be cool to select a pearl leaner.

It was NCGA’s Blue Widow that I used in Janis. He’s an old friend from the A77 club days, pre-OG 1.0. Even though he lives less than 20 miles away, in '97 I had to order it from his broker in Amsterdam. A gentleman and a very good chef.

PS- I might be mistaken, but the “female from BC” was a cut of DJ’s original BB release, which was the “it” strain of the time.

Nevil’s Silver pearl is still around. It just goes by a different name with a screwed up genetic description. I’m not talking about the bogus trash a sponsor here is offering.

Interesting I always assumed it was extinct. Silver pearl is before my time, I’m 44. I saw where ghsc sells some kind of pearl, wouldn’t dare grow there version though. I do remember blue widow however it was quite popular around 99 2000. Man I’m feeling old now, Baudelaire blueberry was so good way way back.

I went to university at an horticultural/ agriculture school, and there was the most amazing cut of blueberry that was around for 10 years. Tons of it…Best smoke I’ve had to this day. This herb was like glue and high was like mdma minus the euphoria. Buds were blue tinged. That stuff would still be a hit even in today’s porn weed. Me and my brother still think about that stuff, pretty sure a professor was growing it year in year out. My older brother talked about it, and he’s 7 years older than me. So it was around since 1996 at least. There was also a cut of sags bubbleberry and original jack herer that was legendary…straight up candy weed. Ahhh the good Ole days lol

Even though part of me (aged late 30’s) says goddamn that’s absurd, I remind myself that this kind of security culture was what made the difference between legacy folks being around to post today vs maybe still being in a federal prison. Times sure have changed…
