Foreigner Goes Legal

Looks great! Should be doable, I think I pulled about 236 grams off two plants (cropped) in a 2x4, 400w hps my first grow.

Thanks ! The manufacturer says 1.5g per watt but I will believe it when I see it.

Good day everyone:

Everything looks ship shape - no issues to comment on.

They are stretching like crazy already! When will it stop? Nobody knows

Day 1 - baseline

Day 2 - beginning stretch

Day 3 - stretch in full effect

The canopy looks nice to me.

Have a lovely day!

You are going to need a bigger boat. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I may need to thin them down a bit but won’t cross that bridge yet.

Fortunately I have a few Reiko fans swirling the air, especially under the canopy

I was thinking today about my actual cost per grow.

-$30 pro mix and perlite (cheap bought in bulk)
-$40 electricity
-$50 nutes (cheaper if bought in bulk)
-$50 seeds (assuming you need to buy them)
-$50 depreciation of gear because something will break eventually.

So - the total cost is $220 per grow. Which is about the cost of an ounce.

If I grow 8oz a cycle that’s $1600 retail.

My labour is free. Every grow saves me $1400 but costs $220

However, if I do the math another way, I save $25 a day by growing my own

How much does a run cost you?

Lets see,

120.00 soil every 2 yrs/24 months = 5.00
130 a month electricity
160 a yr max in seeds/12 months = 13.34
80 foliar nutes and ipm’s every 2 yrs/24 = 3.34…

I really do not figure in equipment expenses as its more of a whim wanting to try something or an upgrade thats not really needed though is more efficient. Sooooo 151.68 a month x 4 months per grow = 606.72 from seed to harvest …I average 10oz in my 3x3’s, 6 in my 2x3 and 1 in my 1x2 so ~17oz when I have them all up and running for bud runs…
An oz of bud costs $320 on the black market or $510+ on the rec market. So just figuring the cheaper route (Black market) I grow $5,440 worth of bud - expenses = $4,833 x 2 (run for 8 months) = $9,668 savings a year or 26.50 a day. Then again is it really savings when I go through only 6oz a year, give my daughter 12oz a year and turn the rest into tinctures/edibles to give away to friends and family? Probably not though sure is fun :stuck_out_tongue:

It sounds like our savings per day line up perfect! Really, I only need a pound a year but I like to have extra for edibles/gifts/trades/freebies.

Think of how much you’ll save on Christmas and birthday presents

I agree, cost really isn’t the main issue. Growing is both my hobby and recreation so if I wasn’t spending it on this I would spend it on something else. I prefer this

Good day all. Everything is well in the tent but I did take a few actions.

I am overgrowing my tent and my ambient humidity is acceptable but on the high side. As such I’m not comfortable jamming the plants in too tightly and rubbing up against each other. A little is ok but this has gotten out of control.

So:

  • I trimmed a very small number of offensive branches that were taking up too much space. Removing those few branches opened up the canopy considerably.

  • I did a minor under canopy defoliation for airflow. A very minor one.

  • unrelated, but I sprayed end all again as my beginning of flower insurance. This will be the final application.

The Cali-0 is about 20” tall. The rest are about 14.”

My canopy is now ~14” from the light. We will see how far I can push it.

Have a lovely day.

You were absolutely correct

Could you imagine if every state was legal and we could all grow outdoors? Yields upwards of 2-8lbs off 1 plant/tree. Lol… I wish they would get their sh!t together here in Texas.

Hello all!

A few notes:

-in the past I have mixed my veg and bloom nutes at the beginning of flower until I eventually end up with all flower ferts. This time I’m going to keep up the veg ferts until I see the first sign of deficiency then switch to bloom ferts. Unless someone can convince me different? Does this sound reasonable?

-the bubba is showing some growth that concerns me. They may just be oddly shaped calyxes and I’m not going to take any action but I will be watching very closely. This is supposed to be feminized but I’m not yet convinced.

-if the bubba turns out to be male I will transplant the remaining 3 into 5 gallon pots and lightly LST them to open up as many budsites as possible.

-I have done another under canopy defoliation. This one was more thorough than the last. I am now happy with the space below.

Have a lovely day!

-the bubba is hermaphroditic. If it had been a male I could have chucked some pollen. But nope. Seed from a trusted source. Very disappointed.

Note the ugly parts:

I have removed it from the tent and tied down the rest of the plants. Still have a good canopy, even with only 3 plants.

I have yet to kill it. I’m going to deep fry it later.

Have a lovely day.

Good day all:

Today I was thinking more about my power consumption specifically how much I can fit on the line and whether or not I have a 15, 20, or two 15 amp lines in my grow space.

After playing with the breakers I discovered that there is just one 15 amp line. I had hoped for a single 20 or two 15s but I’ve just got one to work with.

My power requirements are as follows:

  • 5 amps flower tent (3 amps light, 1 amp exhaust fan, .5 amp circulating fans)
  • 2 amps veg cabinet (1.5 amp light, .75 amp fans)

This gives me 7 amps on a 15 amp breaker. I have a dehumidifier that pulls 5 amps that I don’t use but might eventually.

(Note: all math is rough)

So: I run 7 amps normally and maybe an extra 5 in late flower if it comes to that. This comes to 12 amps total. There is not much room left for extra power needs, but that’s ok, I don’t have the need for too much extra power.

All is well in the flower tent. They are stretching about 1” a day and I hope they stop relatively soon. I have been fiddling with small boxes under my pots to keep the canopy even.

And a big leaf, just for fun:

Have a lovely day

Depends on your wiring. If you have proper gauge copper you might be able to have an electrician replace your 15a with a 20a breaker, if you need the extra amps.

No it doesn’t leave you with much headroom. Its suggested to only run about 80% of a circuit’s amperage, which is 12 amps. One thing to consider, the dehumidifier will typically only be needed during the dark cycle.

Thanks for that. I figured 12 was as far as I wanted to push it.

The dehumidifier might be unnecessary and is more something to keep in my back pocket.

Cheers. Good to know. Though I doubt the builders of this place put in anything other than the bare minimum

Good day all -

Today I thought I would expose the seedy underbelly of my grow.

We all love budshots and all kinds of grow porn, but what about the utility space that makes it possible?

I live in a condo so there are some operational challenges. I present to you the utility spaces that make my grow possible.

I have taken over the 2nd bathroom much to the chagrin of my lady. But she loves the weed so doesn’t complain too much

I let my water sit a few days before I use it and load it into 1 gallon containers until needed. This way I’ve always got 7-8 gallons of good water ready to go.
Note: toilet in reflection.

This is my “medicine” cabinet and my nute mixing station:

I still shave here too.

And finally, I have a high walled boot tray I use to let my plants sit a bit if they need to drain. This tray makes my life so much easier and prevents me from destroying the floor.

All is well in the tent. I have seen the first signs of P deficiency and have switched to flower nutes.

Have a lovely day!

Good day all-

All is going well in the tent.

I had originally planned on 4 plants in 3 gallon pots. Since I ended up with 3 plants I transplanted into 5 gallon pots.

I’ve been having to water every 2-3 days so if this makes the change to 3-4 days I’m happy.

A little minor P deficiency but I will blast them with full nutes on next watering after transplant.

Have a lovely day!
