And 1 more for scale because it just blows my mind. I missed it the first time:
I am lazy.
I watered my plants. I microwaved some leftover pizza. I walked the dog.
I think that’s about it for the day.
Here is a picture of a weirdo bud. I got a new phone and am playing with it still:
Cheers and all the best
That’s a pretty weirdo
Kinda like a Dr. greenspoon but beefy.
I bet it is pretty potent too.
I obviously haven’t had a chance to try it yet but I’m looking forward to sampling some sativa goodness. Only 15 more weeks!
this is with cure?
Yeah I’m just kidding. They’ve got 2-3 weeks to go maybe.
Ahh the old 15 week cure huh very nice……
Funnily enough I usually leave my jars shut for three months before touching them for the first time
You don’t burp them?
No I don’t. I maybe open them once or twice for a quick sniff but that’s it.
Morning gentlemen:
Bit of a situation today. I noticed a brown crunchy spot on one of the larger buds did a little investigating and found this:
Bud rot. The entire branch has been removed and on close inspection I can find no more.
So this gets me thinking, what if it gets worse? It encourages me to chop. The other 2 plants definitely need more time but the one with localized rot seems like it might be borderline ready. I’m tempted to chop it tomorrow.
It appears ready please look and tell me what you think:
Uppers:
Mid level canopy bud:
And the lowest possible bud on the canopy:
I took 3 trich shots and one is obviously clear but the other two are milky.
What do you guys think? I have no choice but to wait one the other 2 because they’re definitely not done but I might chop this one out of fear and bet hedging.
How bout it @lefthandseeds ?
If you figure they could stand a bit longer to be ready , spraying the area where you’ve cut out the mold with a bit of peroxide will stop or slow the travel of it down. Just watch closely for stem and bud rot over the next week increase the air flow will help providing you’ve removed all the damaged bud.
The thing is I’m not experienced with these types of plants to gauge ripeness. I’m more worried about the rot spreading to the other two because if that happens there’s nothing I can do about it, they are definitely not ready.
I’ve had a couple of people say “these look done” and that sativa trichs don’t amber so I’m at a loss. I trust their experience over my judgement but I really don’t know.
I cut the whole damn branch off so no need for peroxide but believe I’m going to be monitoring very closely.
Ouch, that’s bummer…
My last one with this issue, i cut off everything as it developed… in the end wished I had pulled early. YMMV
You can just cut out the infected portion if any more appear ,done that for years in the green house with good results, also the giant buds seem to be more prone harvesting them early will also give you more time for the lowers to mature.
Also remove any dead leaves that are laying on buds as this is a big no no and a rot magnet waiting to happen.
Okay my guts telling me 2 things:
1: Crop the plant that was afflicted to make space for the others that are “not ready” and hope for the best while monitoring them daily as they keep going… (in “”'s because I as well am not experienced enough with LF sativa’s to say if or if not it’s ready.)
2: Crop EVERYTHING and call it a wash. (Least favourite but the logic is that you’d at least have something for all your hard work).
I’m leaning towards 1.
The other two are not even close and to crop them so early would be just as much of a kick in the ass as letting them all rot.
I take my chances.
And im leaning to taking plant 1 down tomorrow. At least I’ll get something for my efforts if it all goes to shit.
But I still am not so sure it’s ready. I think it might be…
