Found my roots in Mapito

@cdnBuddy congratulations on a great grow

Fantastic finish I enjoyed following along
You achieved great color and a amazing yield

? I was wondering about mapito in the Octopots would it be too wet being they sit in the res ?

Yup not the best medium to use in a octopot needs the wet to semi dry action which it wouldnā€™t do in a octopot .

Iā€™m enjoying promix on my autopot grow. Though only down side is the autopots as Iā€™m constantly watching the lines.

Great thread @cdnBuddy !! @ifish referred me to this thread.

I just received a bag of grodan rw flakes myself today. Going to get some pu foam and make some mapito. Also flood and drain. Looking forward to the simplicity of it but dont look forward to dialing in pH haha

take care & see you on the forums

Welcome aboard! I did see your 200 clone threadā€¦ its going to be great!

Ya not a huge fan of dialing in that mapito. Iā€™ve got 40days to prep the next batch as Iā€™m going to be running 2 more flood tables after the next grow.

Looking forward see you run mapito!

Those clones are another story

I have used grodan rockwool slabs before. Also big problem with ever-rising pH if not prepared correctly. I soaked them with a light veg feed of 0.4 mS/cm from nutes and aggressively lowered pH to 3.5. Soaked them overnight and I hit the sweetspot - runoff pH was where I wanted it to be at around 5.6 and would sloooooowly creep to 5.8

Dont want to talk you into soaking your mapito in 3.5 pH but thats probably what I will do haha.

Edit: When I first started out using the slabs i soaked them in 5.0 pH. Next time I soaked them in 4.5 pH. Still problems with pH. Then I was fed up and just went for it at 3.5 and it solved my problems

The last prep I went with ph of 4ā€¦but more than willing to give 3.5 a shot. This will be the last time I have to prep any.

Tomorrow should be pretty quick to reset it all. Have 25 gallons waiting.

Coffee cake - day 19

So far pretty happy with my feed. Finally started to lower the lights until I reach 8". Being gentle on these girls.

Tomorrow I introduce a foliar spray at .8ec. Iā€™m still waiting on my wetting agent to arrive, so Iā€™ll be using some dish soap.

Looking good, thumbs up! :+1:

What kind of foliar spray are you going to use? And what wetting agent did you order? Liquid castile soap works good for me.

Another question: You have the grodan flakes 20kg pack? How much is that in liters / gallons when its in pots? Want to soak it today but not sure how much I should use. I need 50L / 13 gallons. Thanks

Calmagā€¦and a tad of N. Have 3 plant that are not as lush as the rest.

My wetting agent I went with Raw yuccaā€¦very cheap and a little goes a long way. My moms will enjoy a splash in their feed once in awhile to condition the medium also.

The grow chunk bag I have fills 2 CU. FT. It claims to fill 23 1 gallon pot. The bag is not 20kgā€¦

Seems we have different ones. I could only get this one https://hydro4u.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/WOOL-GRODAN-GRANULATE-22KG.jpeg Itā€™s 20 kg and they claim 440L but I highly doubt it, hence I ask. They call it Grodan rockwool granulate. Gonna soak now

@ifish Be careful man. Wear some protection when you handle it.

Mapito gods are pleased!

Getting ready for the next grow! Trays and tent is now clean. Working in washing the salt down line and reseting the mapoto to a ph of 5.6 and ec of .8

My trusty water pail. Dumping 2 litres at a time ever 10min or so.

Have fun soaking. Even with mine claiming 23gallonsā€¦it doesnā€™t make that much even with the added foam

I do squish mine when I prep so I need extra.

Done. That was easy. Probably have around 80-100L now. I soaked the stuff in 2.99 pH. After I stirred the granulate around I am at 4.61 pH already. I will let it sit until tomorrow, press it a bit to get rid of excess water, put in pots and then water from the top with 0.8 EC / 5.8 pH until run off is where I want it to be. Then insert plants. Excited

Do you use RO / DI water? If no, what is your base EC of tap water?

Tap water 130ppm 500 scale. .26ec

Iā€™m still pouring water through. Dropped down to .5ph for the flush. Going much fasterā€¦

Let me know how she works out with that starting ph with soak. I usually go at 4.5 but she still creeps. Looking for that sweat spot soak

Great thread, and awesome job @cdnBuddy! Your girls are looking fantastic. Beautiful fade on the last batch. You said you were using Maxi Bloom for weeks three and four. I usually use it for weeks six and seven, because itā€™s the closest ratio I can find for that period of flower. What do you use for weeks 5,6, and 7, if you donā€™t mind me asking?

Thanks! Very happy with the last runā€¦made a few tweaks for the next run.

Weeks 5-7 I add canna pk to maxibloom. My jacks blend should work out well to replace maxibloom. So far the next run is looking pretty good.

Iā€™ll post my schedule shortlyā€¦just another 20gal to go and break time

@SeymourGreen

Here is my current feed scheduleā€¦still making changes on each grow (3rd run in progress).

Last run weeks 5-7 I went with 80ppm total with N, so wanted to bump it up a bit. Removing Ca on weeks 8+ is a keeper for me. Girls have plenty of reserves till the end.

This is a list of fertilizers Iā€™m using moving forward:

Jacks 20/20/20
Jacks 5/12/26
Plant Prod 10/30/20 (switching to Jacks or any other brand with same ratio)
Calimag
Calmag Pro (green leaf nutrients)
Epsom
