Garbage Carbon Filters

Smelling is a for sure thing that would bring down shit and the law on me in the burbs of the Midwest. I replace my Phresh filter every 2 years now and upsized my fan as well. Few years back at end of flower of a really stinky SourD we could smell slightly in the garage if it wasn’t open since I vent to my attic. Since the upsize no issues and I grow in a small tent but run a 6” vortex and 6”x 12” Phresh filter. Even the stinkiest grow that can be smelled all over the house but not outside in a matter of minutes won’t smell indoors or out as soon as I zip up tent and shut closet door. Phresh is cheap insurance for me. $200 every 2 years is chump change.

You dont want that smell on them the school will smell it in the clothes. Be careful a millionth of a particle can be detected by the human non smokers nose. You dont get 2 chances.

My vivosun filters fine(8in 6months), you just gotta use the prefilters or the mesh will clog. If you’re pushing air not pulling you want to cut a piece of air filter(like for central air) to size and filter the intake so the inside mesh of the carbon filter doesn’t clog

Did you ever problem solve what was the cause of not being able to pull air through?

I ask because most, if not all, filters are just metal canisters with activated carbon / charcoal in the annulus. Not much to go wrong, and if it gets clogged, why not just replace the charcoal? I’m just confused and wondering what the actual issue was.

Myself, I have an iPower kit that came with a filter (have had both 4" and 6") and both work just fine over multiple years / usages.
