Imagine a small city with about 14000 people and having the three police forces… Guardia Civil (Military police), Frontier and fiscal police (G.C.), National Police and Local Police…
… And nowadays also the forestal police…
So… Yes… Plenty of them 
and in a small town almost all known .

We are around 300 people here, but no police 
Next Guardia is about 20min from our pueblo.

Yes, it is small. I am talking of the coast “town” or city. But after that we are all disseminated in many terrain with small villages. In the villages the people count range from 1 to 300… but the mayority are in the range 1-30 people… With a ratio of 3 dogs per person in the villages . But that ratio is changing since the “protection laws” for animals. Now a lot less doggys, chickens and cows.

Ah ken exactly where you are i lean that way the footy as well thats how i met GreenBhoy on here lool. Glesgah is worse for the trainspotting vibe lolllol spoon burners everywhere. am in Paisley we have our share of them too thooo as does every where i even seen them in portugal while on my hols shame for them, dunno why they dont wait till there 70 to get on that stuff, i think i would enjoy it at that age. nothing to looose then . It’s all the same all over the EU, actually.
As the populists of the German cabinet recently found out, making plans to “legalize” is pointless, because it’s against the Schengen Agreement and the CFD 2004/757/JHA. Those need to be changed.
In addition to the drug laws themselves, also their enforcement is (slowly) becoming harmonized in the EU. EMCDDA has received its new mandate this summer, so we actually have our own DEA now - a much better DEA, an European one, which (hopefully) will proceed to humanize the conversation and steer the governments towards a more informed decision-making on these issues.
The U.S. is planning to loosen it’s drug laws. I’m hoping that there will be some movement in the cogs soon enough - before the Commission of Narcotic Drugs (working under the mandate of United Nations) is due for its midterm review next year. It could be possible that the CND then finally adopts the rest of the recommendations made by WHO in 2019, or does something else with similar consequences. The path to changing the EU agreements will then be open.
In Finland, a citizens initiative (again, a new one) will be submitted for review in 20/4/2024. You can follow the campaign’s account here: x.com

Ha ha yes there is a similar vibe everywhere I suppose. Radges like Begbie are easier to find than people doing hard drugs. I think Welsh just sets it in Leith because he’s a Hibs fan and also because it’s the best part of Edinburgh! My trips to Glasgow were mainly to go to the SECC or the wonderful Barrowlands, but I moved away 20 years ago.
Yes Mr Kuti is quite something. I discovered his music first and it’s obvious influence on Talking Heads, but it took a few years before I realised the subject matter. He makes Dylan seem like Dusty Springfield, but mostly singing at the back end of long joyous-sounding funky workouts. Stuff like ‘unknown soldier’ that you can dance and cry to.

The two songs you mention are both Fela originally, Zombie is very special directed at the Nigerian army. And they retaliated to the song by storming his compound and throwing his mum out the 1st floor window. She wasn’t just his mum either. His music from around that period is just something else.
