The Bling is also loving the heat this was may 7 and today June 27 almost 6 feet and starting to fill out .
Beautiful plants! I very much enjoyed reading this thread start to present. Thanks for sharing
@gramps you definitely have master gardening skills! great thread, thanks for sharing
I suddenly need more space. Might be time to annex more of the yard…
And man, the threads to stumble upon on OG. I don’t know how I had missed this one til now but this is one to aspire to. I’ll try to avoid replying 3 or 4 times as I read through this one (currently still at the top, so that will take effort.)
I like your setup very much. These girls will get enormous. How many hours of direct sun per day?
Thanks this time of the year most of the garden receives 10 plus hours of direct sun and indirect from sunup to sundown the whole garden has a southern exposure with minimal shading mostly early morning until the angle of the sun gets above the tree line . And one corner has shading in the late afternoon I have one plant in that area but still have great results . I could increase direct sun with the chainsaw but it gets so hot a little shade in a welcome relief for me and the girls .Happy growng
My admiration overwhelms my envy.
Cheers.
I agree with some shade. They seems to do better with some during the hottest part of summer. I only put one in the ground this summer. It’s been extremely dry but I’m going to put some in a raised bed I’m rejuvenating any day now. One bad hail storm slowed things a week or so. They took worse of a hit than I first thought.
My big one is an SSDD. Almost the size of that one. My other one begging to go in the ground is a (AK47 x NL) x Super Skunk (Phuuu’s IPA). It’s around 4 feet and I have to move it asap.
Best vibes @gramps! Things are looking great. peace
I fed today 4 tablespoons of sea grow 16-16-16 from kelp per plant every other watering I water everyday when hot seems the plants are responding great good color and vigor . I mix in a five gal pail let the water pond up under each plant then dump in for a good mix .
When do you think there gonna flower? Good work by the way!
Hey Gramps. I have a question for you. What should I do with my plants? The bottoms of them look like this one with healthy branches out the bottom. Should I prune still or what? Thanks
Corey your plants are looking good since your growing directly in the ground maybe clean up / trim the bottoms. It will help keep the crawling insects out . Do you have any support ? my buds always get so heavy the branches will bend and break . I just came in from the garden and the Romulan is just starting to bud by October they will be big and fat . All my girls are in full veg and growing tall 7 feet and a long ways to go . I don’t trim much I just spread the branches it turns every one into a big fat cola .
Thanks Gramps! I’ll do that. I usually use some kind of twine and wrap them kinda like a Christmas tree. Then I saw how you have netting tied to some posts above the plants. I think I’m gonna try that if I can find some at a reasonable price
Check eBay…they have trellis netting, 4 - 5 Meters X 100 Meters for about $50US. FYI only.
A little stoned I found a jar of sour diesel x lemon tangy in the house a nice pipe load . A photo moment up in the garden of legal weed .
stunning view of the garden
Awesome sight @gramps. Do you have friends or family to help or are you doing all of that alone?
I’m not realizing my summer the way I had imagined. It turned out so dry that I’ve waited on putting a few down. I have one good one but it’s not liking this heat and it’s tough to keep it watered. I had a late run on males, too. Oh well.
Do you get enough natural rain at your place? Water is scarce and expensive here.
Thanks for sharing. Your garden looks great this year.
The weed is one of my hobbies If I need help my family helps . My wife takes care of the Veggies and my water is via two wells and two 2500 gal above ground storage tanks I can gravity water in case of power outages little to no rain during the summer . Its been in the high 90s and the plants love it I just keep them well watered so no stress .
Right now that’s my biggest obstacle. I bought one tank and plan on more. I have a great place to set up a gravity feed with tanks on the back of my property which is higher than the rest. I’m just going through terrible financial struggles so I can’t make things happen at the pace I’d like. Everyone here has to have some sort of water system. Lot of people have to haul their water every week. Trucks are all around with giant tanks in the back. They buy it at water stations and haul it to the house to go into a cistern.
I’m still working on the big picture though. maybe by next year I’ll have it together. I’m going back out today to work on another raised bed. I’m getting it straightened out and recharged with more soil and manure and peat.
Yeah man. You got to have water to grow big plants…
