Play this very loud to your plants.

Outdoor Update:
Mothers Milk F2 and Headband x Chem D are about 5 weeks flowering. Unfortunately they are fading a little earlier than I would like. Ran them in pure compost to see how that would go, and I guess lesson learned there isnā€™t enough food in there for them. The GDP clone did end up flowering, and will be pollinated soon. My two tiny autos have started showing pistils, so I donā€™t think they will get to live out their full lifespan. It would be great to be able to start autos outdoors and get some quick between season plants, but I just canā€™t seem to get them to grow vigorously.

Group:

Mothers Milk F2:

Headband x Chem D:
This plant did exhibit quite a bit of intersex traits around week 3 of flowering. I had to pluck off about 15 balls, but they stopped coming in so I let her go.

Damn, looking forward to both of those plants. Too bad about the pollen sacks. I heard the Headband x Chem D has some fire though so I hope you find something nice. Apparently the Headband leaner is better than the Chem D leaner but I havenā€™t tried them myself. Looking fwd to growing that pack out though.

I know @Oldtimerunderground had herm issues with this strain as well, and also seen some reports on RIU that had it herm. Figured the smoke reports on it were so good it was worth growing out though. I donā€™t necessarily mind picking off a few balls if the smoke is good. I know that attitude is pretty frowned upon from a breeding perspective, but as a home grower I can handle a little instability. Do you have any idea how to differentiate a Headband leaner? I figure with a Chem D one you look for variegation?

Thank you! The mothers milk has my eye too. Iā€™m looking forward to running a bigger one this summer. Seems like there is something special in that plant.

No two handfuls of compost are the same.
The question is, what organic matter went into the compost?
Itā€™s not so much the fault of the compost but potentially lack of diversity in organic matter that went into the compost before it was compost.
Donā€™t you dare diss on compost mister!

And the small plants are often the most potent ones.
What they lack in volume they make up for in intensity.
So it evens out. And they might stretch a lot during flower, so who knows!

They all looking splendid there!

Could also be that you let her veg just a little too long.
Quite a big plant for the pot.

Hey @Rogue, I did not mean to insult my compost! It is primarily based off my kitchen veggie scraps and yard waste, and I think it makes a great soil base, but in past grows Iā€™ve added fresh worm castings, and malted barley into the soil mix in addition to just the compost, which I think gives the soil a little additional longevity. I havenā€™t used any store bought soil for about a year now, which Iā€™m proud of, but like you said, no two handfuls of compost are the same, so some grows it is hotter than others.

My intention with trying a pure compost soil grow would be to see if I can read the plants well enough to top dress the extra required nutrients. Like you, Iā€™m striving for simplicity in organic growing, and Iā€™ve actually found better results using compost as a base, rather than recycled, re-amended soil from the prior grow. I would love to keep my soil inputs to materials that I can create myself, and Iā€™m pretty close, but still have a ways to go in figuring that out. Your grow logs definitely show what one can do with minimal inputs and intervention, whereas Iā€™m trying to put a little more emphasis on yield, rather than just simplicity. Seriously though, I learn a lot of what plantā€™s can handle based on your journal. Thanks for your feedback.

I think thatā€™s correct. The plant ran through the nutrients in the compost only soil mix, I just wasnā€™t able to react quickly enough to feed it before it started sucking energy out itā€™s own leaves.

|Kenā€™s GDP|Bubba Kush|
|Melā€™s GDP | Melā€™s GDP|

Everyone got haircuts, and a little bit of pollination 23 days after flip. The Kenā€™s GDP was so densely packed with branches, that I had to cut out a ton of them, but she is finally opened up. After all this vegging and waiting, itā€™s time to really see them shine!

I can smell the gdp from here such a solid cultivar  you getting any coffee notes off the bubba?

Not yet, but itā€™s hard to tell as the GDP is a lot more overpowering in smell. Very, very fruity!

Ya so Iā€™ve heard some guys talk about this on a podcast or maybe it was an IG post but ya, variegation is one sign to look for as a Chem D leaner but also the taller, stretchier ones are headband learners and the shorter squat ones are more Chem D leaning. This is only stuff Iā€™ve read or listened to in podcasts.

Hereā€™s a heater that pakaloloinparadise2.0 from IG found, itā€™s a headband leaner:

I believe this is where I saw him talk about the tall vs short ones. He grew out one 7 pack and found two keepersā€¦ one headband leaner and one Chem D leaner.

Hoping I get a headband leaner. Will have to grow out a few more sometime. I really enjoyed Loompas Headband x Triangle Kush, so I figured I should give the Notsodog Headband cross a try. I have no idea what cut it was, but I remember getting headband years back that really made my head feel like it was wearing a headband. Sure was a pretty unique high, but could get overwhelming with too many bong rips.

Pura Vida F2 S1 Smoke Report Cured 30 days

Smell and Taste:
Sweet and floral smelling, but overall not very overpowering in the smell department. The sweetness carries into the flavor of the smoke, with a very pleasing sour lemon finish

Potency:
5/10. This is pretty mellow stuff. I think partially that can be due to the fact that it was grown outdoors over the winter, but Iā€™m not complaining that itā€™s light in potency. The effects more than make up for the lack of punch. Itā€™s daytime mood brightening, energy giving, clear minded smoke.

Overall:
This Pura Vida F2 S1 is a nice jar to have in my drawer, especially since my drawer is mostly nighttime indica dominant smoke. After work, if Iā€™m feeling kind of blah from the day, I can smoke this and it gets me on my feet and ready for an activity. Definitely sativa dominant, which is very different than I expected given her mother, especially since she grew very similarly in structure, but these buds are much looser than the mother. I was definitely surprised on the first smoke, but I guess now Iā€™m seeing how recessive tendencies work. Itā€™s got great lemony flavor, and has some therapeutic use. Iā€™m learning more and more that there is a whole other world of highs out there, and I should probably keep exploring to see what else I may like.

Been thinking exactly the same way!

Never had a fruity cultivar and I have the feeling my pineapple one thatā€™s almost ready for harvest is going to be similar in effect. :pineapple: :+1:

This Sourblutooth has really been wiping me out all winter, lol.

Looks like Iā€™m going to have some GDP seeds! I was worried my pollen didnā€™t take, but finally seeing some evidence
