Greasy's Journal

Well, I feel like I’ve been on an emotional roller coaster since yesterday about the GDP. I was so excited that my pollination took, and then in doing some routine maintenance, recognized that I have a herm in the tent, so will not be able to share any of the tent seeds. I did something pretty stupid about a week ago, when I was selectively pollinating my GDP clone in another part of the house. I turned off the AC Infinity in the tent at peak heat of the day, and then forgot I had turned it off, coming back to find my plants four hours or so later really hot and cranky. I don’t see signs of herm on anyone else, but a few sacks opened. What a shame. I’m hoping I can pick them off and keep the plant going if it was stress induced, but after picking off 12 nanners or so, I feel like this plant could be a lost cause.

The culprit:

Silver lining is that I do have this GDP clone outside that has been pollinated, so I am hoping I will have some clean seed stock. I even got Mel’s blessing to share them pre-emptively…

Happy 4/20! It’s not actually a very big deal, I was just hoping to create and share a strain that has always held a place in my heart. I see it happen to others all the time, this just happens to be my first project that will be sidelined by herms, but I’m sure it won’t be my last. Thanks for the kind words.

Plants have been flowering now for 35 days. The hermie GDP seems to have stopped throwing nanners, but will still keep my eye out. I know I added some additional stress to them with a little mistake in leaving their intake fan off for a number of hours, but the plant that has lived in that bottom left corner has hermed in the past 3 grows. I had thought it was in relation to a dehumidifier I was using in the past, but the trend continues. I’ll have to mess around with some more light proofing after this grow finishes up and see if I can get my grow environment in better shape to start seeing less herms. For this run, like my outdoor, I’m getting some early fade after five weeks flowering, but they are budding nicely. I gave Ken’s GDP, which has the hardest fade a little compost top dress too see her through to the end.

The Bubba is my favorite plant in the tent. Really nice chunky buds coming in, and I’m starting to pick up the coffee smell from them. Never had that aroma before, it’s pretty cool!

I wanted to share some mostly non MJ related plant stuff I have going on, as I love all plants! My little veggie garden is shaping up for the year. My yellow hillbilly heirloom tomatos and green pole beans I grew from seed from last years garden have been planted in their final pots. My collard greens and kale are still going from last year, as well as two basil plants that actually made it through the winter by the skin of their teeth! They were down to a handful of leaves in February so I’m really proud they made it through. Got myself a grape tomato and a parsley at the nursery today too.

My celery is loving springtime! Fun to think both those pots started out as veggie scraps being rooted in water.

My shaded part of the garden is really booming with strawberries and mint battling it out for territory in the barrels. Couple green onions and some thyme pictured here as well.

The seedling table has a new round of yellow hillbilly’s that will be shared as gifts, as well as some habanada sweet peppers. I’m skeptical anything bred with a habanero won’t be hot, but we’ll see. On the right we can also see some Alien OG F3’s by @Oldtimerunderground awaiting their sex test results.

Lastly, @Meesh has made me jealous with all her new succulents so I went ahead and got some new friends myself.

My basil made it through winter then died. lol in all fairness it’s supposed to be harvested in may or June so it is what it is. Love the sempervivum, looks like cobwebs.

I’m planning on starting all my seeds about two weeks from now. I’ve gone back and forth on the line up a few times, but here is what I’m thinking. My plan is to start a bunch outside while my tent finishes up, get the non fems sex tested, and then see how many females I get on the Bodhi related strains, and then maybe move some some back to the tent if I get a good ratio of ladies.

Sun Ra - Bodhi
Goji OG F2 - @syzygy
Mothers Milk F2 - @Olereynard
Sherbert x Wedding Cake - CSI
Chem D x Chem 91 S1 - CSI
Good Ol Day’s (Panama Red x Bubba Kush) - CSI
