Solid ethics right here.
Since Covid Iâve been dealing with a lot of mental fatigue, hell I think everyone is from my interactions in a very populated city. Itâs for this reason that Iâve been double & triple checking anything I do for others, and additionally so for when someone does something for me.
Not because I think they are fuck-ups or trying to mislead me, but because at this point we are all doing our best in a failing human world and now itâs clear as day that the planet is also fucked as we all deal with global fallout of the environment.
In short we are all just meat machines running off off sentient electricity and like all machines there are breakdowns⊠we need to remember this as we move forward.
Additionally all machines and computers and maintained and run by said human-meat-machines; which means that we can influence the 1âs and 0âs that do our bidding to fuck-up as well.
The number of times Iâve gotten a follow-up on an order or something else from a business or person where there was a computer based error resulting in out-of-stock, or unintentional by the human misinformation has greatly increased since we all globally dealt with the big part of Covid shutting us all down.
We are all social based creatures, so we need to continue to help each other help ourselves. This can be as simple as double-checking right-away thus allowing for feedback to the initial party to inform them of the issue presented.
I look after a motion picture film centre and we have a similar policy where âonce it leaves the building we cannot exchange or refund.â This is because film isnât cheap, and itâs alive so if itâs stored in-properly thatâs going to affect the person actually using it so we are very strict considering what was $6 with processing included back in the 90âs is now 60-70$ just for the material + processing and scanning costs.
So no matter how much we do believe you we canât risk any returns and most of the time we behind the counter feel really shitty about this.
There are exceptions though were we feel no sympathy⊠such as the email that I got 1 year later after their purchase. The email info read very immature written by seemingly an entitled man-child so itâs a very different situation than here by far with the one exception: always check your parcels for their correct contents and communicate any issues with your retailer as soon as possible, ideally including images of the packaging + items if possible.
Again: We are all stressed out and doing our best in a continuous state of burnout culture so keep doing your best for yourself and others while making sure you help you help yourself and others.
